This is a great video guys. I'm honestly having a hard time how much to feed my first big tank (210) while making sure all of the fish (especially the bottom feeders) get some. This was definitely some good help in the right direction for me while I try and figure it out haha.

Have an mbuna/hap/peacock tank, 150 gallon. And one tropheus to boot. What I do and seems to work for me is feed a quality pellet twice a day, three times a week. The other three days algae based foods. (Spirulina flakes and algae based pellets in the morning, followed by the same quality pellets in the evening. Seems to be working for me.

Great info! Varied diet is key. I keep a big mix of northfin, xtreme and hikari. But my absolute favorite is Ron's cichlid food. Mix all those together for happy fish.

Hi, at the 5 minute mark what is the name of the blue fish that are with the yellow labs?
I have a tank I want to start as a mbuna only tank. It's a 75 that's been running for 5 weeks and had 4 goldfish in it to help the cycle start for the first 4 weeks. I have some hornwort in the tank because I heard they won't eat it. I also have small pothos growing out the top and hob filter. I also will be building a 5 gallon bucket DIY filter for extra filtration. This will be first time having cichlids. I wanted to put in a max of 12 juvenile in at once to try and avoid any aggressive behavior. Is that a good or bad idea? I always hear you should add like 3 then wait a week then add 3 more and so on. So my thinking was to add all at once so there would be no dominant fish.
    Would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hey guys, THANK YOU for all your videos and great work! Question- I have mbuna of assorted sizes. They just keep breeding! I feed them Xtreme Spirulina flakes and cichlid pellets. What do you recommend for frozen food? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for watching! I’d recommend spirulina brine shrimp, but only doing it sparingly for mbuna

I didn’t know this and had a baby Jack Dempsey with two baby yellow labs and a blue johnni adult I was feeding them all protein pellets and my adult BJ got Blout I did some research and found out that was wrong food for them. His blout lasted a good week and once I started the plant base his belly went back to normal

Hi , I have 9 mbunas in my tank. Whenever I go near the tank they get scared and hide. Even when I feed them floating pellets they don't see them as they stay near the bottom of the tank most of the time. Don't know what's the problem, an suggestions sir?

Frozen is going to be more fresh without as much additives. Frozen is best but should be used sparingly so that they’ll still eat dry foods

Don’t feed sera food because it’s very low quality and it will make your fish ill. I’ve been keeping fish for the past 30 years and sera is the worst food I’ve ever come across.

Interesting. Are you sure it was the food? We’ve just started mixing it in at maybe 10% of their diet and they seem to enjoy it. Not as good of ingredients as Xtreme. But fish seem to enjoy more than Northfin/API/NLS
