Use a food injector syringe and add gelatin to your food mix. Pack it into a food injector syringe and push out worms the size of your choosing right onto your table, and drop them into your tank. Instead of pouring the mushy granulated food of tiny bits into tank. Make home made fish food worms.
I don't think people realize how important it is to spread the good out so everyone gets some. A lot of people think there fish is sick like it has parasites but really what happened is they weren't an aggressive eater. Over time they lost eight and strength and stop eating all together. They throw every medication they can find to save the fish in the tank but nothing helps. They aren't sick. They've been slowly starved by the other fish.
Yes! I have a huge furcicauda who is slow and he barely gets any food. I have to hand feed him, which is pretty fun. But I make sure everyone gets a shot at the main course. I’ve had a few with sunken belly that were just poor eaters too.
This is my 2nd video I watched and I subscribed. Since I'm new to cichlids I need all the help I can get. I just bought mbuna from a breeder in Florida and bought a bag of food they use. When it's gone I will try the north fin. Thanks for making the videos.
Thanks for the info and recipe of what you use, never thought to make my own food and stick it in the freezer and frig. hum good idea, now I feel badly for my poor slobs just getting old dry kibble from the pet store!
I leave my top wave maker on and bottom Wave maker off and also shut my fx6 off so it doesn't get sucked up in the intake. I'm overstocked in my 75 gallon so I gotta do it like that lol. But I just ordered my 125 and it'll be here Monday.
Hey, just came across your video and love the content. I wanted to know information about your tank size, and dominions. Also, where could I purchase my own.
new sub.. I’m just so so confused about how to create a Cichlid tank because I have kind of a girly 55 gallon; but cichlids are kind of out of my element
Thank you! Can you upsize to a 75? That’s a decent size for mbuna or they have dwarf cichlids too. Some would even say a 55 for mbuna, but I think it would be a bit small. A 125 is the ideal starting point imo for peacocks and haps.
Really love your fish! Have you done an indepth video on the stocking choices and species for this tank? Looking to start a 220g soon and Mbuna are winning at the moment... but your tank is so impressive I'd love to know exactly what you have in there as I don't know all the species yet.
Based on my own experience, fasting fish sometimes help boost their activity and color, because they do get hungary for days from time to time in the wild. It can even be a whole season when food is scarse.
@@CichlidCharmer in general. I started African lake Cichlid not long ago but had American Cichlid and African river Cichlid for over 20 ;). Love the style of your video btw 😍
@@dakiwifuit7587 I think fasting my angelfish and geos for a day would be fine. My Africans I think would be cranky 😬. Thanks again for the info and the positive feedback!
I don’t have any experience with auto feeders, so I would have to try one out before I needed it to make sure it will work. I would prefer to have someone I trust feed them while I am away. I keep food portioned out in baggies for each day, so they don’t have to try to remember how much they get. Most fish can go several days without food, but my Africans get really cranky. And they are already cranky all the time 😂
Not bio gold, but someone gave me some Hikari cichlid gold. The first Ingredient is fish meal, followed by at least four fillers. Not going to feed it to my guys.
So I was wondering about the duplicate thing with aggression does this happen between females? I'm curious cause I have a female blue dolphin and one currently on the way from a friend... will the females be okay together?
I don’t keep female peacocks and haps, so not sure if you don’t have a male and only two females if that would work. If you have a male in the tank, then you’ll want probably around three or four females to keep them from getting sexually harassed to the point of exhaustion and they can get beat up a bit. If it’s just two females in the tank, I’d probably give it a shot and just watch closely. As long as the tank is large enough.
@@CichlidCharmer okay I think I will give it a shot and see what happens I've got the day off so I'll be messing with em most the day doing water changes and what not and i currently have 2 125g one not set up but I got 15 fish in it currently mix of peacock and hap I appreciate your time and advice as always and I love your videos! Good content, as usual. I knocked the fast day on the head with Africans too - they turn psycho otherwise. Was OK with a traditional freshwater setup but not Africans. Brine shrimp are my guys favourite. They get that twice a week for dinner. Rest of the time is as you do, the best quality flakes and pellets I can get - mainly Origin foods here in the UK
Yeah crazy + starving = 👹😡. I’ve done brine a few times with my guys too. When I run out of krill I think I am going to buy some frozen shrimp and try bits of that. Maybe use a cheese grater. Thanks for coming back, Paul. I didn’t realize you were in the UK! Awesome

I think I’ve experienced this…
I use a mixture of Spirulina 20 (flakes), Bug Bites (cichlid), and TDO Chroma boost.
I use Ron's Mbuna mix, North fin veggie and Xtreme Nice...
That sounds like a great mix!

Hey thank you, Andrew! I have not. I do have some species profiles both in short form and long form though. I will add that idea to my list!
Great video! Have you noticed an improvement to the colors of your cichlids since using the TDO Chroma Boost?
It does boost the reds
What about the other colors?
Did you notice if the TDO Boost helped on coloring or not? I jus recently started including that.
I noticed when I was using only tdo that the fish with reds became much more red. It doesn’t do much for the other colors. It is good food.
I bought NorthFin premium fish food pack for African cichlids but I’m concern on the tile
“ Alimentary de choice pour poisons “
Poissons means fish
