  • In this series I am going to go over the contents of the yugioh rule book. Additionally I'll be addressing things not in the rule book on the pages they relate to although they may be a bit complicated for a completely new duelist, they weren't there for a reason. This episode will be covering from the pages 28 and 29 from the rule book on spell cards. I'll be discussing what the different properties of Spell cards are as well as addressing rulings related to some of these things as well. If you want to buy cards to get started there is a link to my tcgplayer affiliate link in the description below. If you have more questions ask them in the comments or speak to me in my discord.

    Question.
    Lets say its my turn, and I have a quick play spell in my hand. My opponent has a continuous spell/trap face down that they set last turn, and they proceed to activate it during my turn. Am I able to react to that activation with the quick play spell in my hand, or would it have had to be on the board to counter it?

      In your hand is fine if they flip it on your turn, if you set a quick play, then they chain their card, you'll be unable to chain your quick play as it needs to be set for a turn once you set it.

    If I set monster reborn my turn
    Then my opponents turn begins can I activate monster reborn during my opponent's turn?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  Год назад +1

      No, normal spells can only be activated during the open game state of one of your main phases during your turn from your hand to an open spell or trap zone, or flipped face up to the spell and trap card zone the card is set in. The only spells you can activate from a set position during your opponents turn are quick play spells.

    excellent video! how does it have 8k likes and 3k views though?

      It has 81 likes, 1 dislike and 3100 views. Idk if I made the series beginner friendly enough to do better, and I am not the most exciting explainer, but I try to go a bit beyond the little tiny bit covered in the actual rule book.

      @@LegacyCrusaders I am starting from zero and If I can give you one critique it is a bit fast for me, but I can just play it at 0.75 speed. Weird to me it shows with 8320 likes haha (it would deserve them )

      @@LegacyCrusaders for me a topic that’s difficult to understand is when I can activate an effect. In masterduel it just makes the card pop up yellow but irl it‘s still not easy for me to understand.

      @@smolbodybuilder1602 I have a bad habit of cutting all dead time from videos. Makes the flow a lil unnatural without normal conversational pauses, also when I recorded this series, I wrote scripts and I kept messing up reading them in any manner but so fast that I wasn't even thinking about what I was saying, so they came out fast. Sorry its a bit fast.

      @@smolbodybuilder1602 In general if a card is a quick effect it can be used almost all the time. If it's spell speed 1 it can only be used in the open game state of your main phase. I'd watch the video on chains and spell speed for more information. Other things such as a cards activation condition or associated costs that can also be relevant but thats on a card by card basis as to what matters.
