  • In this series I am going to go over the contents of the yugioh rule book. Additionally I'll be addressing things not in the rule book on the pages they relate to although they may be a bit complicated for a completely new duelist, they weren't there for a reason. This episode will be covering from the page 12 and 15 from the rule book on link summoning. I'll be discussing what the different properties of link monsters are as well as addressing rulings related to some of these things as well. If you want to buy cards to get started there is a link to my tcgplayer affiliate link in the description below. If you have more questions ask them in the comments or speak to me in my discord.

    link monsters really opened the possibility to combo like crazy by letting you make room for extra bodies. i guess thats why in MR4 they hobbled extra deck summoning FORCING you to use link monsters.. Thank god they got rid of the Synchro, XYZ and Fusion restrictions for MR5.

    With being able to summon fusion, synchro, xyz without links, is there a need for links anymore besides using the link effects?

      No. They're still good tho. Easier to use then other cards.

    When you link summon two link monsters, does it have to link summon to a zone your link monster points to or can I summon it to the extra monster zone my material is in?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  7 месяцев назад +1

      Assuming im interpreting what you wrote accurately, you can do that. You can link summon up an open emz, a pointed zone, or to an emz or a pointer zone occupied by a card you intend to use as material that you can legally use because it's yours or a card allows you to use your opponents monster in the emz and you don't control the other emz simultaneously unless it would complete the extra link

    you got the spell/trap card zone and the normal monster card zone and then there monster cards that are also traps,can you use them (monster/trap card) to link summon (a link monster in the normal monster card zone) if they are in the right spot if the link arrows are pointing to those spots? or does that not work?

    Is link monsters considered to be Speed 2 or Speed 3 cards? & could they still be destroyed by Speed 3 (Counter)trap cards, regardless of 1 of 2 Link Monsters stating it can't be targeted by monster &/or spell/trap card effects?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  8 месяцев назад +1

      No, a link 3 counts as a 1 or 3, it cannot count as a 2.
      3+1 is 4, which is not 3.
      Alternatively,
      1+1 is 2, which is also not 3.

    Is it also a co-link if you link with the opponents link monster? And can you extra link with a triangle instead of a U shape?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  7 месяцев назад

      You can co link with their monster, you can make a v shaped extra link.

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  7 месяцев назад

      Co link just means they both point at each other, if you meant something else, I'm not sure what you meant. But use you can summon a link monster to zone an opponents monster points to on your field that happens to also point back at that zone.

  • @DuelaDent52
    @DuelaDent52 Месяц назад

    If the Link Monster in the Extra Monster Zone is destroyed, do you also have to destroy the Link Monsters in the main field? If not, do you have to occupy an Extra Monster zone again before you can summon another Link Monster to the main field?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  Месяц назад

      One monster doesn't have anything to do with another. If you have link pointers you can use them or the emz if it's free.

    How come sims like master duel or edo wont let a player link off say a link 4 and an effect monster to make a link 3, wich would usualy have its summoning conditions met (2+ eff monsters)?
    Master duel sometimes lets you use a link 4 as 4 material, but other times it wont when summoning a monster of equal or lower link rating :/

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  2 года назад +5

      Because a link 4 counts as either 1 rating or a 4 rating so a link 4 plus another monster can only be used to summon a link 5 or link 2.

    • @goldenphoenix5945
      @goldenphoenix5945 10 месяцев назад

      @@LegacyCrusaders 2 Questions:
      1) Could you summon a link 4 using a link 2 + link 3? In other words, once you exceed the link rating of the monter you want to summon, do all link materials become link 1 or can you say the link 2 counts as 1 rating while the link 3 retains his link 3 rating? --> Happen to have just tested it and you can.
      2) Also, do co-linked effects such as phoenix and cerberus apply only to the monsters they are directly touching and co-linked to or do they apply to the whole chain of co-linked monsters if the chain is unbroken such as in your example at 4m34: Link Spider, Phoenix, Unicorn, Cerberus, Link Spider? In other words, is the whole chain immune to being destroyed by battle and card effects thanks to Phoenix and Cerberus.
      (I'd put the time stamp properly but yt sometimes takes down videos with time stamps for some reason.)

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  10 месяцев назад +1

      @goldenphoenix5945 Cerberus colinked effect has a continuous effect that applies the second it's on field that colinked monsters you control cannot be destroyed by card effect, it doesn't say cards it's colinked to, it doesn't even need to be colinked to your monster.

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  10 месяцев назад +1

      @goldenphoenix5945 any link can count as a 1 or itself so 3 + 2 is 4 because we can treat 2 as 1.

    Can someone enlighten me please. I am reading everywhere that a few years ago the rules were changed as to being able to summon cards from extra deck to the ''normal'' card zone without having to have link monsters linking to them. But every video even the new ones still say that you have to have a link monster up with their arrows pointing to zones to be able to summon into them. What am I missing ?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  5 месяцев назад +1

      Link and pendulum summons from the extra deck still must be summoned to the emz or zones link monsters point to, xyz synchro and fusions can now be summoned from the extra deck to the emz or a mmz as of april 1st 2020 or 2021 i forget which.
