    Fairy Tail Tales is also a good tech card, as it applies to Spellcasters with 1850 ATK (which is the stats of the Familiar Possessed and the Link Charmers). You can then add some of the Fairy Tail monsters, like Luna, as they also work with the Awakening of the Possessed card.

    • @IamJerf
      @IamJerf Год назад

      If Fairy Tail could get more supports, especially a searcher for the spell card, then they could really make Charmers alot more viable.

      Right?
      At the moment, Fairy Tail Tales is the only card I think works unconditionally in a Familiar Possessed focused deck, but Luna, Sleeper (rarely, but has come in clutch for me in one of my decks), and Snow (if it wasn't banned, but in Master Duel go ham) can be useful occasionally.
      If we get a pack that gives extra support to the Charmers AND Fairy Tails, then I genuinely think that we have the potential for a fun rogue deck.

      @philosophicaljay3449 I'd love to see a special themed set like that, like the Legendary box sets. It's been 3 years since the structure deck that they got real supports and I just really want them and Fairy Tail to get something more useful to them

    Charmers were the first cards I ever loved ever since I was a kid. I always had made a deck with them before archetypes were a thing, and them getting a structure deck blew my mind, even though there sadly wasnt much supports shown but i was happy either way. The fact that they even now have scale figures just shows how massively popular they are.
    I hate the fact that we still do not have Happy Lover and Metabat getting their Awakened forms, as well as Dharc getting his alternate art for his Familiar-Possessed form. Happy Lover and Metabat would actually be heavily used in the deck and could make the field spell more viable
    What i hope to see in the future is more supports to give the deck more viability and consistency. An actual boss monster could make the deck more aggressive, id love it if it was a non-link monster like a lv 8 fusion or rank 4 Xyz. A rank 4 Xyz could actually be more useful as this deck can potentially make enough Rank 4s with the familiars and could eventually turbo into Utopic Draco Future.
    More spells/traps can give off more search options from the cards we already have that searches and these cards could have effects that either grants extra normal summons, prevents other Possessed spells/traps from being destroyed by card effects, grants a Familiar-Possessed their effects ignoring the condition when summoned, and/or quickly change attributes of the opponent's monster from the field or GY.

I was given Wynn the Wind Charmer by my younger brother when we were growing up through foster care, and in my desire to collect them all, I ended up making a whole character inspired by her and created an entire IP centered around elemental manipulation.
    Now I'm making games based on elements thanks to Wynn when she FIRST CAME OUT.
    My nostalgia is melting my brain. I can't even go into all the things these girls helped me discover about myself. My love of spellcasters and wizardry, the idea of familiars, etc.

    I love Charmers a lot, but I would like to see some actual boss monsters for the archetype. Either the Charmers themselves or the Familiars getting to amp up. I know the deck has a power of friendship vibe, but it would be cool to have a plan B if your backrow gets torn apart. Your field stability relies heavily on Unpossesed and Awkening of the possessed, and without them, beating over anything above a level 4 monster is challenging.

      I believe a great boss monster would be a Fusion boss that takes 2+ monsters (one of them being a Charmer).

    • @IamJerf

      @akiraishin7141 I had that thought too like it can be treated as a Familiar-Possessed or Charmer monster, can gain different attributes based on the materials used and have multiple effects based on those attributes.
      I also had thought a rank 4 Xyz could really benefit with the deck too as you potentially make alot of rank 4 plays with the familiars and could turbo into Utopic Draco Future who can also steal monsters.

    Charmers are one of those themes that they have a habit of slow rolling support for. That's why the latest Hiita was just released recently(alongside a bunch of misellaneous Fire support), and the next Eria will probably be out on the following year(though the last big "wave" of Water theme support was just last year I believe).

    As a pure Charmer duelist, might I say at 19:35 that while Ichirin may LOOK like it won't do much in the long run, do note that, in my experience on master duel, other duelists don't tend to read their opponents cards. I've had many situations where Ichirin consistently got rid of important combo-starters, because the opponent usually starts with them. Furthermore, even after they realize the effect negation that's on the board, they either try to brute force their way through or end up with lowered moral due to losing their first effect each turn.

    The best way to play charmers is to hard focus on the 1500 def spellcaster line up and use Charmers as an engine with their earth stuff (Aussa, Nefariouser, etc) and Spell and trap line up. Decks like Magistus, Dogmatika and Branded have some really good 1500 def spellcasters like Zoroa, the Ecclesia's, Quem and Cartesia to name a few and they all pair really well in a big 1500 def spellcaster pile deck that can pump out some surprisingly strong end boards.
    You can go as far of splashing in other archetypes like Gravekeeper's, Windwitches, Incas and Fairy tails to vary up you're lists. Ascator dawnwalker is a 1.5 card combo for ATOP nefariouser archfiend and a level 8 synchro which is really nice as well as cards like Gravekeeper's shaman is a soul drain in monster form you can send to the gy off of Magicians souls (Great if you hate Tearlamanet in MD).
    Overall Charmer is an insanely versatile deck with a ton of potential builds such as a Charmer Volcanic FTK, a flip penguin version using Eda the sun magician and Penguin squire that can summon Tzolkin with a searched s/t for Crystal wing and the aforementioned Dogmatika Magistus Charmer pile (DMC) to name a few.

      @@IamJerf You can actually use Lyna and Dharc with their Familiar possessed forms as a search engine with Branded. Namely with the Bystial to search out cards like Cartesia and Quem. I've found the most powerful version is to focus them around lockdown cards like Skill Drain, Secret Village, Summon Limit, and so forth. A single lv4 charmer + village + skill drain or summon limit + Awakening. locks your opponent down hard.

    • @IamJerf
      @IamJerf Год назад

      @@shadowspider9 yeah basically without all the techs and engines, a Charmer deck with floodgates is always viable as all you'll do is beat them up with a 3000+ Atk Familiar-Possessed

    • @notimportant493
      @notimportant493 Год назад

      @@shadowspider9 you can actually use ecole de zone with charmers and floodgates like rivalry and summon limit. The charmer backrow either makes you plus, set up the gy or you are stright up immune to the destruction effect of de zone ahilst your opponent is not.
      Whats even funnier is that De zone spawns a spellcaster type token which when used with rivalry will prevent them from summoning anything none spellcaster thanks to the token you gave them. Charmers being spellcaster means you can summon as many as you want. Finally with summon limit, the summon lf the monster and token meets the full requirment of summon limit and will lock them out, charmers being immune thanks to awakening means you can summon even more afterwards whilst your opponent will be stuck just summoning low atk tokens.
      "Familiar De Zone" is honestly a really funny stun/floodgate deck you can run.

Not to mention, Miracle Stone provides its ATK boost to ALL Spellcaster monsters, not just Fortune Fairies. And to top it all off, when you link summon a Link Charmer, Awakening lets you draw a card- and if you draw a Fortune Fairy, it summons immediately, and if you draw a Familiar, it can summon for free. Combine that with whatever you steal from your opponent's GY, and you have Link-4 material.

      There is one godsend for this deck to fulfill the ability to search a Familiar, and that is Witch of the Black Forest. Summon her, link her off for Artemis, and you can search any of the pets. This is ideal because they can dodge the restriction of Witch of the Black Forest and be summoned to the field. Ideally, you search Nefariouser Archfiend to get the Awakening of the Possessed Archfiend from the deck and use it's reborn effect to bring her back. If you happen to have another Familiar in hand, you can do the same combo, minus the search from Witch. Link off the stronger familiars and you can search not 1, but 2 of the Possessed cards.

    Black Metal Dragon and Metal Zoa, but considering both are incredibly bad I understand not seeing them worth mentioning, there's probably a few more but I know these
    As a side note it would be cool to see "Metal Morph" support, it was an interesting idea in card design held back by the fact that the payoff was 99/100 times a vanilla that was worse than what you cashed in to get it, Maybe they could retrain the whole weird mechanic, like tributing an opponent's equiped monster to cash them in for appropriate monsters based on the type of card tributed, like a techno organic virus, and maybe make the cards 0 attack extenders so they aren't bricks, but copy original stats if they are summoned via the deck equip/tribute method.

    You didn’t include the best tech, it’s a continuous trap called “Rainbowlution Lab” basically, target a monster, it’s now all attributes and a machine. All attributes, which means all the charmers work on it, oh and did I mention that the continuous spell doesn’t require different monsters to checks it’s attack gain effect?

    Charmers are my personal favourite. I've always liked using cards from my opponent as resources, and they did exactly that. But until the Structure Deck, they were insanely brittle and difficult to use, to the point of feeling like a deliberate joke of an archetype. But now, they actually have combos and setups that can lead to massive payoffs. Unfortunately, juggling 4-6 attribute targeting lines is kinda hard, so most Charmer Decks are highly brick-vulnerable.
    By the way, Charmers work exceptionally well with Kaijus. Through them, 90% of the setup is under you control, instead of having to hope for the right girl against the right color. You just off the enemy boss monster as Kaiju fodder, then flip your Charmer to immediately take the Kaiju for yourself - even better if you had two in hand, which would then both be on your own field. Then you Link them into the same Link Charmer to prevent your charmer from getting shot and you losing the Kaiju, instead reviving it from GY for permanent access.
    Another variant that works really well Is Charmer-Invoked, since Aleister is searchable, and his fusion monsters cover all attributes, plus Invoked Elysium functioning as an omni-attribute boss monsters to instantly max the boosts from backrow supports, including Dark Doriado in the Pendulum Zone.

      Yeah that's the biggest missed opportunity for them. They're connected to so many other lores but they themselves don't have their own story, not even the card arts give us a clear answer except for "cute girls doing cute things". Konami should make a manga series for them, if they could make Sky Strikers then no doubt Charmers deserve it more.

    I don't think that the Gagagigo with Erina is actually meant to be the same character as the one from the Marauding Captain story line. They're only ever shown together on Charmers/Familiar-Possessed cards, while none of the Gagagigo/Maruading Captain stuff directly and clearly references Erina.

    • @emonychan
      @emonychan Год назад

      No, he definitely is the same character. Master Guide 1 establishes that as canon beyond the cards.

    • @magicianofd8434
      @magicianofd8434 Год назад +1

      @@emonychan I just read the Gagagigo section, there is no direct reference to Eria there. It mentions Gagagigo having feelings for "a girl," but it doesn't give anything more than that. The Charmers section of Master Guide 2 does have this, "By her side is "Gigobyte", who has just begun his journey into manhood." Which does admittedly allude to his story outlined in Master Guide 1, but it doesn't still directly state him to be the same character.
      To be fair, Marauding Captain, Inpachi, and Gagagigo's sections make no direct mention of each other either despite being pretty integral to each other's lore. However, I think that is more a reason to not treat these as definitive sources for the lore.

    • @emonychan
      @emonychan Год назад +1

      @@magicianofd8434 It's literally all we have though, and it makes far more sense for a character with a unique name and look like Gigobyte to be the same monster than it does for it to be different. One should not have to be hand-held through the lore to connect the dots, after all. Further, we have to assume that if a card shares aesthetics and name, it IS the same character or at least a descendant/cousin/relation because that's kind of just how YuGiOh works. There's literally no reason to believe there are two Gigobytes.

    • @emonychan
      @emonychan Год назад

      @@magicianofd8434 Also worth noting: You can link Charmers to Marauding Captain using Petit Dragon two ways:
      1. Mokey Mokey appears with Petit Dragon on the "Normal" cards and will eventually be seen with Goblin of Greed on Dark Factory, as well as with the Traptrix ogres on several Trap Hole cards.
      2. The foot of Manticore of Darkness is on Return to the Normal. Manticore is then seen with D.D. Warrior Lady on Return from the Different Dimension, who is seen fighting Dai on several cards, who in turn is seen in The A. Forces with several figures from the Marauding Captain storyline.

    • @magicianofd8434
      @magicianofd8434 Год назад

      @@emonychan Considering the cards themselves give us more information than those entries, it's not all we have. In fact, it seems like it'd more useful to reference the actual cards over the Master Guide articles in just about every scenario. Moreover, you said that Master Guide 1 made clear they were the same character when it actually doesn't, that's not asking to be handheld. Until there is a clear and direct reference to them being the same character, I am free to believe otherwise.
      Also, the majority of Yugioh archetypes don't have any actual story associated with them, thus we can assume (especially earlier on) this isn't a high priority of the game. So, it makes more sense to just assume that Gigobyte was used simply because it was a weak water monster, that aesthetically looked good with Eria without regard to any associated lore. Because again, if Eria is meant to be cannon to that story line, why does she not appear or be clearly referenced in any non-Charmers/Familiar-Possessed cards?
