I always assumed the buildings showed up in all the endings because Hitoshura just says fuck it and disregards the reasons and recreates tokyo anyways because he just doesn't give a shit
Nah, surely not, just that the world is being recreated, but we never find out the details. Ehhh I know what they tried to do, but I feel thinking they could bring something more...
Kinda. It's not that rebuilding tokyo is necessarily against any of the reasons. If I remember correctly, this reason was the reason that clinging to power is what dooms people. So instead, it begs a world that could very well be what it used to be. But can no longer progress. Leaving a world where people have to be content with what they have.
I think they ran out of money, nothing to do with laziness. It's sort of left up to the player to interpret what it is. For all we know, it could be TDE Demifiend's demon horde coming to kill them. lol
"That's really lame." Sums this ending quite well, actually. Thanks for uploading all of these; you really saved me some time. I probably would've gotten the Demon ending and felt ripped off (because I don't equate being afraid with lacking conviction) if you hadn't posted these. Thank you! :)
Its interesting that for this ending you can actually choose not to go along with this reason and still get the choice so it does not matter what you say to him at mantra HQ. I have not played the game but I read a great guide on gamefaqs that explained how the endings work in this game and this ending is an exception to the other two. Also thanks for putting these up.
I noticed that for every ending the world started with buldings rising from below...THAT´S A BIG FUCKING CHANGE!Is not like we don´t have buildings on earth.I like the finals in the strange journey a little more, showing the consecuenses of every ending.By the way, good video :D
From what I remember, he was the plain and regular version. If you claim that I'm wrong and the form given to you in this route is actually stronger than the normal one.... then I won't even argue. I didn't play the game for a couple of years now.
@PrincePhoenicis I think Irony is right! Maybe it's also because of the fact that the TRUE DEMON Ending and the DEMON ending are not relate to the reasons. The reason endings are LAW, but each of the reasons has an alignment associated with it. I guess Angels always been arrogant, hence them supporting Yosuga is not THAT strange but know knows.... it IS weird
@buntado6 Yeah that's basically it. Although the Reasons are more LAW, each one stands for one of the alignments. Shijima is pure Law, Musubi is Neutral and Yosuga is chaos.
Nihilism is the act of anarchy and destruction, from what I've gathered on it is that everyone works together...so if everyone works together how is there destruction with no greed or reason to fight since everyone is the same?
Law: The reasons themselves, because the point of conception is to remake the world, no matter which reason prevails. Neutral: Freedom, Kagutsuchi actually gets mad at you for reverting the conception. Chaos: Demon and true demon, no explanation needed
Well, it wasn't me, it was the Nostalgia Critic. I used the clip cause in my opinion it deserved to be there. I had people tell me how SPECIAL this ending is with the Samael you get, but once I saw it, my jaw dropped so low, I figured I had to take the rest and add that clip to this. Some people were of course OFFENDED and angered by this, so I am glad you reacted differently. Thanks
Why thank you! Some people hate this video because of it... I felt like the mood was broken apart anyway, so I had the right to just put that in to give my opinion on this demon that you get... in its perfectly default state.... yyyyyyyyyyyyeah....
It did take some time. I like recording obscure stuff so that other people don't have to deal with replaying the games dozens of times themselves. I even made a video review of the game to encourage people to play it.
Well, thank you man you have saved me. And yes, it is really lame that Samael, but, that means that I have to play all over again to get Samael if I want to have my compendium at 100% :( Damn...
Hmmm that is true. I did get full compendiums in Persona 3 and 4, but already while playing Nocturne I felt like.... noooooooooo, not in this game. NOPE! This was hard enough on its own.
Jajaja!! Yeah dude, now that I know about this Demon I feel disapointed. I mean, in Persona we enjoy playing it all over again, but in SMT it's the same thing every time you play it, unless you ignore the Amala Labrinth. I m playing it right now and I get the neutral ending and I m going for the real demon ending in the same, in fact my first, playtrough (I'm preparing for that last battle). But I guess my compendium, it just going to stuck in the 88%...
@MisterJackBox HEY!!!! Pardon me... You put a counterargument to what I said and your making a REALLY good point here! Thanks for that! :) But none the less I was at least hoping for a bit more... call me childish, naive and foolish for that, I don't mind, I realize I am like that. The neutral ending is much longer, shows a lot of the characters and it makes these endings look a bit pale, but perhaps that's the point, it's meant to look more 2 dimensional when compared to the way life is.
@KevinTheDuke22 Kagatsuchi is an aspect of God, created by him in order to monitor and bring about the destruction and rebirth of the real world. He is still very much the antagonist, just not the big bad. Whereas past games were about law and chaos, Satan and God, this game is about idealism and the shaping of the world at your hands. It's still very much an awesome SMT game. Just because God isn't the villain does not change that fact.
Well to me it is hard to tell what the new world would look like. Technically it is up to your imagination. Since the time that I've recorded this, I respect the direction they took with the endings a lot more, but I still have some doubts whenever or not it could have been done better.
@Kohomaru I LOVE Samael! I always use him in Persona! He's SOOOOO CUTE! Buuuuuuuttttt here he's soo weak, especially considering this is the end of the game and you should have super demons with a whole set of abilities, and not the default ones! So the "That's really lame" is more directed at Hikawa for giving you such a "last minute help". And yeah, we skyped about this and you had a silent giggle... is it because I FORTOLD EXACTLY HOW THIS ENDING WOULD LOOK?
What I meant is that in "creating a world" he didn't need to rebuild cities. Maybe they even didn't need planets? That was kind of lame, since it was a common point in all 3 Reason endings. All of the endings were a bit disappointing for me, like everyone was already tired. I went for TDE on my onyl playthrough, by the way. Thank you for these videos (I even watched 2 of them in your blog)!
One could also see this as an interesting twist, how one religion/faith can view something as objectively and unquestionably good, while another one can picture it as something purely evil. Then again we should not forget that Hikawa is an evil ruthless criminal. Even if what he tries to achieve could be seen as something positive, he does it for selfish reasons and so, the being to support him is the God of Evil.
THANK YOU! Exactly, it's a regular "vannilla ice cream flavored demon", at this point we really had all right to expect something amazing and not THIS!
Doesn't the samael learn god's curse as an added bonus upon leveling up?? I finished the demon compendium but never did the shijima route, and my plain-o samael just learned plain-o phys-repel and void mind, but i reaf somewhere that it did.
I can't even imagine how long it must have taken you to get all of these endings. I couldn't even finish one playthrough let alone this many. Major props to you, man.
@KevinTheDuke22 As far as I know God's merely given a voice during the True Demon Ending and it's the same with the Japanese version. A design choice that I don't mind. I really ain't a guy to consider this game PERFECT (as I stated in my review), but at the same time, I have to defend it in a lot of ways.
Wait, what? You honestly agree? I had a whole bunch of people bash me for that joke, but I felt justified seeing how it was just a regular version of that thing, no cherry on top or anything, so .... LAME!!!!
@DarkXaven :) He was reviewing the 90s sport montage thingies ehhh "90's Sports Montage" that's the one. He had this reaction to the Mighty Ducks movies and I figured it fit in quite well with getting a demon to change the shape of the world and it turning out to be just a bland default version of the demon with nothing special. That's really lame......................!
Samuel is so lame. Thankfully the Shijima ending is not required to get him in your demon compendium if you're going for 100% Not to mention Hikawa doesn't even fight you, what a coward.
88SLLS I'm glad someone else thinks Samuel was a lame thing in this ending. I don't mind Hikawa not fighting. The only one fighting is Chiaki, which sort of makes sense with the idea behind Yosuga. Eh, whatever!
FarelForever At least let him come with Debilitate, c'mon designers, what were you thinking. You'd really have to deliberately go for this ending because the casual player (lol, the casual player would give up after Matador) would hate Hikawa, and even if they didn't hate Hikawa they'd want to protect Yuko. I'm surprised there wasn't more endings for this game. Until I got close to the end I was thinking Yuko would have an ending, Hijiri would have an ending, and Futomimi would have an ending.
Yeah, this game should technically have more endings, while at the same time it incorporates many elements to the ending selection, which are pointless. Many MANY choices affect your favor with the reasons, which is POINTLESS, because this would only factor in if you agreed to a few reasons at once, which doesn't seem that likely. Then again, if it was this complicated, it'd take me a whole while longer to record these endings...
Why would he be a coward? He clearly states from the start where his heart belongs, why would a guy that wants silence and peace FUCKING WANT TO FIGHT YOU!?!? He's the smartest and wisest, he gives away that part of him that makes brainless all-muscles twits what they are: savage idiots. So of course he wouldn't fight since he hates it, doesn't meant someone who acknowledges that fighting is stupid and useless = being a coward.
De Void Why would a guy that wants silence and peace go to war with the Mantra; try to kill you prior to the conception for interrupting his quiet time; kill off members of another cult, and his own members as well who oppose his ideals by controlling demons; treat members of his own cult who do believe in him as nothing more than a tool to collect Magatsuhi and then later to be sacrificed to summon his God (same method as Isamu); try to kill you again for interrupting him while collecting Magatsuhi for the nightmare system to annihilate the Mantra, when all you wanted was to either ask him questions about what happened or to see your teacher again; get you to join his cause as early as the fall of Mantra, yet still make you battle against his minions right up until he fuses with Ahriman, just to see how powerful you actually are; stop climbing the Tower of Kagutsuchi after he gets to the point where he'll have to start fighting against another reason, because he'd rather have you fight the other reasons for him, even though he wants to be the one to create the new world. I think Hikawa got scared and chickened out after being put in a role where he'd have to do something for himself, because all he knows is controlling others to do his bidding. Please... you're making Hikawa sound like he's Ghandi, when there's absolutely nothing peaceful about him or his reason Shijima, silence and oneness with no sense of "self" and no conflict doesn't necessarily mean sunshine, peace, and rainbows. His vision could just be total annihilation of the world with him the only person left in it. < his idea of peace and quiet and IMO based upon his actions and demeanor through out the game much more likely that's what he wants.
Wait, so I get a free Samael for joining Shijima? Question though. Could I get Samael without fusing like that through another Reason. Or does it only come with Shijima?
@Ephabia Look.... I uploaded all endings, this was the only one where I added something like this, you could easily fast forward if it was so deadly to you, but I just expressed my honest opinion on it. This is LAME! I love Samael, but this is Hikawa giving you his gift so you can make it and it's the default version, a version you could fuse or tame yourself. For me, that was that big of a disappointment that I couldn't ignore it. I realize this makes all my effort put into this worthless....
Fuck the haters, no matter what other people say i absolutely loved this ending and its philosophical implications. There are a ton of similarities between the world of Shijima and Nirvana: Shijima's stillness abolishes the vacuity of the self. Also i love Hikawa and how he manages to keep his cool throughout all the shit that's happening.
@crapface108 Awww you really don't resent me for using NC? heheh I just felt bad, Samael is cool and all, but getting him, default, nothing fancy, in the last dungeon............... that's really lame! And yeah, at least Hikawa gets to see his new world....
@chaotixninja5 I loved the design on Ahriman............. hope your mentally scared because of my little bit in the middle of it... some people apparently were.
Saw Isamu's ending first, and thought it was actually pretty good. Now that I'm seeing all the others, and how similar they are in presentation, they actually are kind of balls. lol Why have so many endings just to make them all essentially the same? Ah well, game was fantastic anyway.
It's to show you different interpretations, and perhaps faults, with their reasons. Isamu, for example, committed suicide. How is that different from living in your own world? Creepy, but the interpretation is definitely there, with the huge tombstone. >_>
I think it's actually intersting how they doesn't give you a clear answer if the path you've chosen was right or wrong and leave the result to your imagination, making you think if what you did was good but without saying a straightforward answer.
I do feel bad about making the joke in hinsight, but over the many years, I still didn't get THAT much backlash for it, cause people do feel that it is legit lame :p
@@FarelTheGiraffe By the way, Nocturne is a great game. Finished today and decided to watch the rest of the endings. I wish Atlus games would include Russian...
Haha, I just watched the review. I love how the opening music is from Persona 4 (since I'm currently playing through it again.) Anyway I for one appreciate you recording the endings. Because there's so much in the game and so many weird twists because of the many different endings, that after not being able to play for a week due to work, I always completely forgot what I was doing. And it's not really the kind of game you can put down for a while and just start back up a week later.
Yeah, but I'm sure there's people who would prefer a boring world from one where violence happens. I personally can't see any potential for anything there....
After over 100 hours of game play, obtaining pierce for three party members, and obtaining lvl 99 for five characters, this TDE ending is weak. This is my first SMT game and I had a hard time understanding it. Is Demi-fiend really evil? I feel as if he is more Musabi throughout the entire game, as he is caught in the middle of all ideas and going through the game not knowing what he is truly fighting for. Had he known the man in the wheelchair / young boy was Satan, would be have joined his ranks? Hiwaka was not "evil" in the above ending as portrayed by Satan. Did Satan lie to Demi-fiend in the Kalpas to manipulate him? Were the Kalpas just a way to manipulate Demi-fiend to get him to fight for Satan? I come from the Final Fantasy world; where, if you have a certain completion rating you get a better ending (like FFX-2). I did the Kalpas not really to get the True-demon ending; I wanted to get Metatron, Pierce, etc. and make the final battle a breeze. I don't really understand the movitation of Demi-fiend because he doesn't talk that much, nor does he openly express his views during much of the game. When he does, it's a Yes or No choice by the gamer. Why did this SMT game link the "True-Demon" ending with the Kalpas. I wanted Pierce, Metatron, and Beezlebub, but not the ending in all honesty. This end, Shijima is the best ending in my opinion. Maybe because I am an optimist and not that dark of a person...
Technically everything is up to you in the end. This is not Final Fantasy, the character is mostly a blank slate, you choose answers for him. BUT.... ugh, I'm sorry, I don't have the head for this right now. I spend the last 12 hours doing homework. All I can think of is... isn't FFX-2 also the ONLY Final Fantasy giving you a real ending selection? Bonus stuff in FF9 doesn't count.
A quibble, but Satan and Lucifer are different entities in the SMT series. The Satan they use is an older version from some Jewish and early Christian traditions who is actually one of God's main henchmen (or at least works with God's approval), who travels the earth tempting people away from God's path so as to punish the weak. So in SMT, Satan is actually on YHVH's (which is to say God's) side, as opposed to Lucifer, who leads Chaos. So they're actually enemies. It was later that Satan and Lucifer became the same mythological entity and the series doesn't reflect that.
FarelTheGecko I don't think that it have something to do with Christianity or morality, but simply "borrow" that stylistic. Creator in this game is asshole, as he is ageist freedom (what is not Christianity but Gnostic). All sides here are bad in some way, even if they use "Light" (Yang) stylistic (what is not good as it is tyranny and stagnation of unchanging form, and that why it end with battle). This ending here is close to Taoist "Darkness" (Yin) philosophy as it simply support nihilism, what is commonly associated to Satanism too (BTW: I more referred to fact that Samael and Aryman, are both names of Satan in Christianity and Zoroastrianism).
@TheGiraffeStar Indeed, plus he's real cute ^^ I always use him in the Persona games. I just had to add the LAME comment there because.... getting him so late and in this state? ... not very useful...
I consider myself a glutton for punishment at times. Nocturne is likely one of the times I suffered less, there's things that required more than 200 hours of play time.... I do it hoping that people might appreciate some of the effort, but I moreso would hope for a return to reviewing, really missing that.
why the fuck couldn't samael at least come with good moves like the shady broker demons from amala? I mean, not megidolaon or the kaja moves. much less like super pixie but at least like dekaja, dekunda, me patra or amrita, void mind, allure?
Yeah, it is why I put in that Nostalgia Critic clip in there, heh. I know it's out of place, and why some might dislike the video, but..... man, I felt so disappointment! You'd expect SOMETHING, and not a demon to just throw away immediately !
FarelForever that caught me off guard XD but the nocturne community is filled with people messing around. Like Jim Reaper, Akechi Goro, Hitoshura or mpg in his streams. So it fitted well here on the internet. Much appreciated.
"That's really lame"
Lol
Algebra Falcon I am glad there still are people who are okay with that joke, hehe

I think the developers were just lazy to add more cutscenes and CG -_-, yosuga and shijima endings are so similar that they are the lamest.
+eriol I agree, your'e going to have to take their word for it that the world works the way it's described.
I think they ran out of money, nothing to do with laziness. It's sort of left up to the player to interpret what it is. For all we know, it could be TDE Demifiend's demon horde coming to kill them. lol
"That's really lame."
Sums this ending quite well, actually.
Thanks for uploading all of these; you really saved me some time. I probably would've gotten the Demon ending and felt ripped off (because I don't equate being afraid with lacking conviction) if you hadn't posted these. Thank you! :)
Shijima give anyone else an Evangelion human instrumentality vibe?
Same philosophy. Desire and individuality extinguished, all consciousnesses become one.
Shijima ending: THE VOID THE VOID THE VOID THE VOID THE VOID
Lol nostalgia critic
Gabriel L.765132 Oh dear, the flak I got for that joke! Hehe
FarelForever submit to the void. The void is love, the void is life
Exdeath approves.
Did he really rebuild the city of Tokyo expecting a world of stillness? Wrong move, dude
Its interesting that for this ending you can actually choose not to go along with this reason and still get the choice so it does not matter what you say to him at mantra HQ. Hikawa' widow's peak is the greatest thing I've ever seen.
men i read the whole thing ilove this game and i want it get all the endings before this, thanks
From what I recall, you can get one eitherway, hence my "snarky addition" to this video... cause I really hoped for more.

So of course he wouldn't fight since he hates it, doesn't meant someone who acknowledges that fighting is stupid and useless = being a coward.
De Void
Why would a guy that wants silence and peace go to war with the Mantra; try to kill you prior to the conception for interrupting his quiet time; kill off members of another cult, and his own members as well who oppose his ideals by controlling demons; treat members of his own cult who do believe in him as nothing more than a tool to collect Magatsuhi and then later to be sacrificed to summon his God (same method as Isamu); try to kill you again for interrupting him while collecting Magatsuhi for the nightmare system to annihilate the Mantra, when all you wanted was to either ask him questions about what happened or to see your teacher again; get you to join his cause as early as the fall of Mantra, yet still make you battle against his minions right up until he fuses with Ahriman, just to see how powerful you actually are; stop climbing the Tower of Kagutsuchi after he gets to the point where he'll have to start fighting against another reason, because he'd rather have you fight the other reasons for him, even though he wants to be the one to create the new world.
Also i love Hikawa and how he manages to keep his cool throughout all the shit that's happening.
lol, do you know who Araya is? He is the physical embodiments of "Stillness", it was lame pun.
Jarin Jove he didnt kill himself, he loses against baal
I think it's actually intersting how they doesn't give you a clear answer if the path you've chosen was right or wrong and leave the result to your imagination, making you think if what you did was good but without saying a straightforward answer.
Thanks for upload. Yeah, that's really lame XD
@@nerethano It sure is, and... yeah, I imagine it being tough for Russian players. I am Polish myself
Haha, I just watched the review. I love how the opening music is from Persona 4 (since I'm currently playing through it again.)
Anyway I for one appreciate you recording the endings. Because there's so much in the game and so many weird twists because of the many different endings, that after not being able to play for a week due to work, I always completely forgot what I was doing. And it's not really the kind of game you can put down for a while and just start back up a week later.
lmao-ed when u whispered it
Yeah, but I'm sure there's people who would prefer a boring world from one where violence happens.
Hero of the Beach The way myths and religions evolve are really fascinating..
Aryman and Samael? So put it simply "Satan Ending"? He he he ;D
Maybe, or maybe just a very valid point that "pure good" isn't really that pure...
@TheGiraffeStar Indeed, plus he's real cute ^^
I always use him in the Persona games.
NIHILISM HO!
The "Kingdom of Stillness" sounds lame to begin with... something Souren Araya would like though.
All matter of perspective. I am certain some people would like it. Not me thought... BOOOOOOOOORING!
link to meme
notbad ending i say
lmao
A plain and boring world YAY
worst ending of all
+finaljoses Eh I don't know, I felt much more disapointed by the regular Demon ending, since that came out of nowhere and it was not my intention
Demon ending was the ultimate troll ending of the franchise. The game makers really pulled a fast one there. xD
