I know Isamu is the most obvious hypocrite but this route I can never get behind as it measures strength only in physical ability. I wouldn't exactly call Futomimi's unstoppable resolve to fight for his happiness weak at all.
+spiralpower1620 But you created a beautiful world full of bloodshed and backstabbing, where genocide is OK because you have the ability to do it in the first place. In Yosuga Auschwitz is first class art. But in all seriousness, what sort of demented freak thinks that slaughter is beautiful?
+spiralpower1620 I don`t think who ask for help is hypocrital, his goal is basically give EVERY SINGLE HUMAN BEING, the power to be GODS of their own little, perfects worlds. Ask for help looks fine for me, Isamu is weak and he knows it.
+Kazuya Prota He's a hypocrite because his actions are completely violating his ideology. His ideology centers around isolation and strength from individuality, yet he constantly contradicts it by relying on the demi-fiend for not just external help, but emotional help too. It's true that he's aware of the fact that he's not strong enough to do it all on his own, but if he really believed in his whole isolation ideology then he would live and DIE by it without ever involving Demi-Fiend. Instead, he passes it onto Demi-Fiend by stating that he "doesn't care" about what happens next. Personally I think that's the most telling of his personality, everyone else makes statements about how they thought they'd be creating their worlds and not Demi-Fiend, Nitta just brushes it off as "whatever I don't care," because deep down he was really only interested in his OWN individuality and nothing else.
Please, the Spartans trained for war because it was neccesary. Not because they found slaughter fun. Those kind of reasons are reserved for animu characters.
I assumed Yosuga was kind of a world were they get rid of the "masses" and only the greatest "powerful" people (not necessarily in a sense of physical strength) live thus creating that "beautiful" world, however the game is not very clear about it. So the cruel extermination of the manikins is a strong point against Yosuga, but the fact that the manikins are pretty much helpless without Futomimi proves Chiaki's point.
Granted, Demi-fiend is the Creator in the end so its whatever the players interpretation of Yosuga is, albeit coloured and influenced from what they know of it in game. It began as the Chaos alignment choice with the Mantra, pure power, demon gangs, emphasis on independence but after they're fall it becomes co-opted by the angels, some of the previous mantra demons complaining about discrimination against them after the headquarters becomes the homebase for yosuga. The angels emphasize a lawful interpretation: focusing on how only the chosen few survive, or the "smiting of fools", and one angel theorizes that in a world without the weak prisons will no longer need to exist. which aligns with the millennium kingdom in its utopianism (no prisons), elitism (chosen few) and judgement (smite fools). It also goes along with the fact the angels sometimes have a tendency to be more militant then YHWH even prefers (such as in SMT 2 or devil survivor) in their pursuit of utopia. As Far as Chiaki , its stated in a strategy guide her reason for wanting Yosuga was because she was an upper class person who lost her station in life with the vortex world, she wished to regain that station and never experience the anxiety of losing it again, thus her vision of Yosuga was a world in which the strong rule safely from their position of power and can pass judgement on lessers. Plus she become fused with the mantra leader which likely influences her personality wise as well. The Manikins were prime targets since their existence was fundamentally contrary to Yosuga : wanting a world of equality where manikins live in peace. Mantra saw them as resources and slaves Chiaki saw them as useless and dependent, hoarding energy they by their nature could never use as only a human can bear a reason, trying to manipulate the strong such as demi-fiend with sympathy when he was useful and coldly ignoring him otherwise. Angels knew they were literally soulless incarnations of emotional states some of the sinful people had as the corrupted world ended destined to die with the vortex world, as opposed to full persons, heck Futomimi is just the incarnation of a newly repented serial killers desire to be liked and loved by others. and as you said the shear harshness of the imagery and context of the slaughter acts as grim reminder of social darwinistic thought, thus representing the possible Cons of Yosuga.
i always thought that Yosuga Worls wasn't just "senseless" violence but more like the Meritocratic world from Devil Survivor 2. You win or have a "social position" because you're strong, charismatic and skilled, you have to GAIN what you want basically. Still I can't say if i prefer Musubi or Shijima because i wished they'd give you a f-ing sneak peek at what your new world would look like
No fairy tales here. I'm Aron Brent Gutierrez in the credits. It's a process called localization. They had poorly translated text and a scene guide. I had done Final Fantasy titles before this. The text didn't make a lot of sense, so it was my job to write the entire script. Sometimes I had no idea what was happening in the game. This is always the case, but Square had a crew that double checked things, whereas Atlus let me do whatever I wanted. I also did all the text for Choro Q, but in Excel.
Well, you sure have a point! Of course this game is not perfect. But it's extremely challenging and unique. I think it's a game to be remmebered for a long time.
I knew the bitch was officially my enemy since that scene with the manekins (actually I didn´t even have to chose, I was too no-yosuga at that point and the angels appeared for themselves)
Also in the Labyrinth of Amala, you will find Burial Chambers in special rooms, those are the same boss fights that you have fought before. You need the Black Visor first, and have to win as fast as possible, so that when rereading the gravestone, the number of turns spent will be marked in red. If you'll have this for all twenty four stones, and then on new game plus when you return here, you'll get a special event giving you the 5th extra turn always from now on. GameFAQs for help!
Yes, but I felt like I had to include the other scenes that led up to this since it's the Yosuga route. I didn't feel like coming a whole video to only that ending cutscene.
Totally disagreed. Nocturne is one of my top ten favorite games of all time. Its combat is time-consuming, but it's so involved that it never gets old... and the atmosphere, dungeon designs and story (what little story there is) is absolutely fantastic. It's one of the most thought-provoking, brilliantly-designed masterpieces of gaming I've ever encountered, and while I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, anyone who likes long, deep, involved and cerebral games should definitely give it a go.
My focus in FFXI was the Mithra, Windurst and the Ranger missions. Sorry about the moon faze for anyone who has done it. It was a VERY long project. It was going on since FF9. I was a big fan of C.J. Cherryh's "Chanur" series as a kid, so cat girls were a logical thing to me. It was a transition from console gaming to pc gaming and all the IT stuff kind of made it take far too long to come out. The RPG companies kind of died out. Please keep me posted on the videos!
I'm not sure it'd be something I'd watch/listen to on a weekly basis, but it does sound like something that could be interesting for a lot of people and with enough variety it could be something. I'll note you about my video in a moment PS, my favorite voiceactor was Jay Hickman, I got to learn of him from playing Unlimited Saga, heh
@FarelTheGecko True, but just to save him would have been the best. Thank you for posting these videos, It is my favorite game. I will subscribe to your videos!!!
I would say that it is always AN option. As players we are given the choice. We can argue on what's canon, but in the end it's up to us, the players to make the choice.
i find this ending to be most disturbing because it makes for a world where paranoia rules every decision to make. i wouldn't be caught dead choosing Yosuga. not to mention, the hypocrisy that is the root of this reason. there is something exceptionally satisfying in seeing Chiaki get a taste of her own medicine. it is the system of the world she desired afterall. i hate that the sad music at the end givea me such intense feels.
@MagatsutheCalamity I agree, Chiaki was unique and "survival of the fittest" is a real thing, BUT I still would side with Futomimi any time, cause at that point, Chiaki goes too far after the fusion and the manikins did work very hard to gather all the energy and now it's being "bullied" away from them? I can't agree with that!
I guess every of the reason endings has to have that problem aspect is to show how imperfect this whole idea is. A world where only the strongest ones are allowed to live wouldn't work on its own either
I didn't play DDS, I only played Nocturne, and while I liked it, I do agree that you have a good point, and it's what I try to bring up whenever someone calls this game perfect.
Ok FFXI??? I loved it, it's my favorite MMORPG and I plan to do a video on it someday! And about nocturne, I feel like it touched upon dilemmas and asked the serious questions, like... what would you do if you could recreate the world? I reviewed the game in a separate video before and it's one of my most popular videos ever, perhaps you'd want to watch it? This video is a response to it, although there's still a weird trailer video for that.... don't miss it
@OmegaChosen0 Look, I notice your more of the chaos route here, but what were they suppose to do? Just die ? No... they fought regardless of how hopeless their battle seemed and that I admire.
Extra Turns come from Critical hits and hitting an enemy with its weakness. You can also just Guard. Look, this is really simple, just play the game and you'll get the hang of it eventually. I'm quite confused what you mean here... you wanted a neutral ending, but now you want the True Demon one? As far as I know, TDE overrides everything, so if you unlock it, you'll get it.
@TheSuperbiasqualo You get that feeling with a lot of titles. I'm currently playing Romancing Saga Minstrel Song. I've been playing it for about 500 hours already... saying it doesn't feel the same as the first time is a huge understatement. I'll talk a lot about that in my SaGa series retrospective video which will be released somewhere 2012 hopefully.
I know, you can find it on RUclips, just look for: Unreleased Tracks - Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne - Manikin Bloodbath Extravaganza And you should find it
I wrote the dialogue for this game! Actually, I wrote EVERYTHING in English that you see. Every menu and those long bios. I'm glad people like it. I can't prove I did that, I guess. But, dang it! I did! Haven't done a game since.
PS2, and I use a tv capture card to record it. I'm always one generation behind... maybe once I get a job things will change... But hey, I enjoy that you enjoy it!
@MasakadosMagatama Geee, big thanks for that, I could use the subscribers hehe. And no problem, I wanted to help people cause I know what a pain getting all the endings is.
I think most of the reason endings are left with a bit of irony. The sad part is that you have to kill her to get this far, which I guess goes to show how illogical this reason can be. There's no place for affection, it's all about proving to be stronger than others.
@MagatsutheCalamity Yes, but even so, I kind of pitied them, but of course there were 2 of them that were special. Not a mix of emotions, but rather emotions of a single person. I liked that in the labyrynth you can find both and find out how shockingly different they were in the normal life, however once you bring that "reviving bell" to them, stuff starts to make sense.
@marcosfelipe018 It was not released on any soundtrack, but it's here on RUclips. Just type "Manikin Bloodbath Extravaganza " into the search and you'll find it
If there's something wrong with my head, then I'm not alone, considering the almost universal praise Nocturne received from reviewers and players alike. Remember, just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean NOBODY can like it. Your opinion is not the correct one, nor is mine. We must all learn to respect one another's opinions, even if we disagree with them. But then, considering your username, I suspect I might be wasting my energy explaining this...
Ok I don't think there's any rules as to what ending you should get. I've recorded these videos to not make you need to get them all yourself. BUT to be fair, TDE does unlock a lot of Fiends as you play along, since you might them as bosses as the game goes along, which does unlock them. I wouldn't say the other endings make stuff like this happen, certainly not to the same level.
One thing I notice... Musubi was created because in the world, only the strongest rule, and that's bad. Yosuga was created because in the world, the strongest don't rule and that's bad. Don't know, just something that fascinates me.
@BlazingAbyss I think its not avaible :( Many songs were never released or remixed several times and only 1 version of the song being available. Maybe there would be some community that deals with ripping into games, maybe they could do something about it, but I'm not sure
@SixAgainstAll hey, first time fighting him, he actually did kill me as a boss! I think he powered himself up and directed his attack at the main character, so I'm not disrespecting him at all!
@crapface108 Ah no problem, I was real pissed when I couldn't find the endings in English so I forced myself and recorded all of them. Sure glad to spare thousands of people over the world the need to replay the game again again and again
@kristalnaruto Well as I wrote in the description for the neutral ending in the video for that ending, you have to fullfill these requirements: -NOT use the lift to the bottom of the Labyrinth of Amala before entering the Final Dungeon -Do NOT support any of the Reasons -And most importantly, while in Yoyogi Park (later in the game, when revisiting), when asked by a character if you're AFRAID, answer negatively to BOTH questions!
.... I.... I got screwed over numerous times before with fairy tale stories and yet.... I feel strangely willing to believe you. But you did something like translation or is this a classic matter of someone just translating it, but then someone else has to try and double check if everything fits for an English video game? And did you do all this yourself?
@AkumaUchitoru I prefer this over Shijima, but yeah it's cruel..... and nope, it's CHAOS, Shijima is LAW. It is quite ironic that the angels are the ones to follow this one....... then again... all reason endings are kinda LAW ..
I was thinking 5 episodes and some art work. And if there's enough interest it could be expanded into something else. Theatre for the car! It's something I thought would be interesting aside from games and animation.
@azwraithh Wasn't intentional, but that's how it looks heh. BTW, first time recording this video, Futomimi killed me... killed my main character to be exact, I didn't show that cause I was too embarrassed to!
I got Neutral twice (both times attempting the True Demon ending and failing), then, at last, suceeded at the True Demon ending. I kinda prefer that one.
Would anyone happen to know the name of the bgm that starts at about 0:21 I've been wondering for a long time now since I can never seem to find it on the soundtrack.
It sure would be, but the equipment I use is limited, and so is my money, and so is my time and... the game was borrowed from a friend and no longer in my possession. Maybe one day I'll have a job and hence better equipment to record with, but for now this is all I have. STILL, thanks for commenting!
@TheSuperbiasqualo The ending selection in the game was a painto deal with , truly. And yeah, I am a guy who loves to keep his favorites.... but this game lacked the demons id want ..... but my setup was: Surt, Uriel and Ongyo-ki...
@FarelTheGecko hey i heard that you guys can record like this using a vga recorder attached, but i cant find those anymore i wanna record my killing machine on AC:NB i finished the level 5 overral movement training exercise in gold
Guess it's all just the point of view. I myself am a stupid sucker for happy endings, hence I like the neutral ending, even if that makes certain people look bad at me...
Oh right, almost forgot, heh. I cut videos short very often. Some complain, but I want to save time and.... it creates comedic moments such as this hehe.
Go play Persona 3 or 4 then. Your not necessarily wrong, but they DID made those game EXTREMELY old school...and back in the day, that's what you got. Gameplay was simply much more important than story. And you can't say a game's bad JUST because it doesn't have an academy award winning story.
Necroposting,I know. But I think Nocturne had the best presentation/storytelling in the series. Plot itself was a minimalistic ,but it clearly felt intentional and like you were meant to interpret the events and characters, which made it really immersive for me.Plus it was one of most accurate & interesting analogies to Thus Spoke Zarathrusta and the whole Ubermensch deal out there. Most people seem to miss this about this game's story.
That makes me happy to know. I had no idea anyone liked it. Really. When I finished it and Choro Q I was told my contract was finished at Atlus and to go. Basically, I was jobless. It's the last game I wrote. My last game at Square was FF 11 online. I haven't written a game since. I thought no one liked anything I had done. So this is pretty shocking seeing the videos up. I've started working on a website at aronbrent . com. What is it exactly that made this game good?
I've been showing all your guy's stuff on here to people and I thought about doing some sort of RPG podcast, where voice actors do stories I've written as a kind of show. There's a lot of material I never got around to putting in games and I thought this might be a nice, FREE way of putting out some things you guys never got to see in games. Would this be a good idea? Or is that kind of lame?
@buntado6 I honestly was never a complete NO aside from Shijima cause there you can't give a neutral answer. It's funny how differently the characters act Chiaki, YES -> She's glad you agree Chiaki, NO -> She's sad you don't agree, but she respects your choice Hikawa, YES -> He's VERY surprised you agree with him Hikawa, NO -> He's not surprised Isamu, YES -> He KNEW your a smart guy so you'd agreee! Isamu, NO -> He KNEW your a dumbass so you wouldn't agree Isamu is a slimeball :p
Well guess it makes this game even more impressive then! People really like this game and I confess, while it's not my favorite or anything, I certainly approve that the game had a serious tone while not going into extremely Shakespearian old british speech... no kidding, I've seen games go there and it was quite frustrating.
@filippe999 I use an Ardata television card. I just connext the tv card to a special "alternative for AV" cable and stick that into my ps2. Ehhh what's AC and NB? Level 5, what?
Who knew that Debilitate could be so powerful?
It's one of my favorite spells, heh. Everyone likes this edit I made! I swear, when I originally made it, I wasn't really thinking about it, haha!
It's honestly kind of broken, I love it. (The spell, not the edit. Although the edit too.)
it's finally balanced in SMT4A because it cost 100 MP and end game bosses use dekaja a lot
wtf 100 MP?! NOT EVEN PERSONA 5 COSTS THAT AMOUNT OF MP FOR DEBILITATE
NoFairPlay i mean if they or you (keep learning it) have an affinity with moves like it, the mp cost goes down
I know Isamu is the most obvious hypocrite but this route I can never get behind as it measures strength only in physical ability. I wouldn't exactly call Futomimi's unstoppable resolve to fight for his happiness weak at all.

I can honestly say this ending made me cry so hard.
chiaki can become the prophet of the religion of peace
It's hard to point out a true ending for most games in this series, since it seems like the apocalypse happens in all of them...
Having to sacrifice your own ability to make decisions, the point of living, or absolute order for the sake of peace. Take your pick...

Whaat!? The guy who localized this game and FFXI commented on this video? Wow that is awesome.
Quite, heh, I hope to get more commented from people like that :)
Well, you sure have a point! Of course this game is not perfect. But it's extremely challenging and unique. I think it's a game to be remmebered for a long time.

GameFAQs for help!
I misspelled this as Yosuba Ending while trying to search it and got linked to some green anime girl
Yotsuba.
It is a song that was no published on the soundtrack, it's on youtube too, just search for *Manikin Bloodbath Extravaganza* if you wish to find it!
Uh. Just to clarify. The actual ending doesn't take place until 8:10.
Yes, but I felt like I had to include the other scenes that led up to this since it's the Yosuga route. I didn't feel like coming a whole video to only that ending cutscene.

@FarelTheGecko AC = Armored Core,NB = Nine Breaker Level 5 Overral Training Exercise with a gold rank
They way you cut the video made it seem like Michael just shouted and that's how you defeated Baal Avatar.
Thanks for the video

@MasakadosMagatama Geee, big thanks for that, I could use the subscribers hehe.
And no problem, I wanted to help people cause I know what a pain getting all the endings is.
@FarelTheGecko Well, the way you cut the Baal battle, you start using Debilitate and then she dies.
@TheSuperbiasqualo SMT 3: nocturne slowly becomes a forgotten memory for me, heh
As in killing the mannequins? I can understand that. Chiaki's first speech sounds so peaceful and promising, but then....
Took a while to write that comment :) But yeah, thanks a lot, glad people still till this day are grateful for this ^_^
@kristalnaruto Well as I wrote in the description for the neutral ending in the video for that ending, you have to fullfill these requirements:
-NOT use the lift to the bottom of the Labyrinth of Amala before entering the Final Dungeon
-Do NOT support any of the Reasons
-And most importantly, while in Yoyogi Park (later in the game, when revisiting), when asked by a character if you're AFRAID, answer negatively to BOTH questions!
.... I.... I got screwed over numerous times before with fairy tale stories and yet.... I feel strangely willing to believe you. But you did something like translation or is this a classic matter of someone just translating it, but then someone else has to try and double check if everything fits for an English video game? And did you do all this yourself?
@FarelTheGecko Thank you! ;D
I can understand that, a lot of people do.
Everyone prefers something else, I see that the majority of people either go for the neutral ending or the true demon ending.
Oh well that really too bad, Thank you however for answering my question.
if this vid have more video quality it would be awsome.
It sure would be, but the equipment I use is limited, and so is my money, and so is my time and... the game was borrowed from a friend and no longer in my possession. Maybe one day I'll have a job and hence better equipment to record with, but for now this is all I have. STILL, thanks for commenting!
@OmegaChosen0 Each to their own indeed.
@TheSuperbiasqualo The ending selection in the game was a painto deal with , truly. And yeah, I am a guy who loves to keep his favorites.... but this game lacked the demons id want ..... but my setup was: Surt, Uriel and Ongyo-ki...
i just saved futomimi
nooooo
note : i just finished kabukichi prison dungeon yesterday now im looking for ikebukuro tunnel to get in asakura
Death by debilitate. Epic
Oh and by extra turn I mean you had 5 magatamas rather than the usual four.
@FarelTheGecko hey i heard that you guys can record like this using a vga recorder attached, but i cant find those anymore
i wanna record my killing machine on AC:NB
i finished the level 5 overral movement training exercise in gold
je--jesus...he used debilitate and EXPLODES???O_o ..that some realy awesome power :B
Well where this would go from here?
LOL, poor Futomimi
SomethingRules Yeah, it is sad how he ends. You can technically get him as a recruit-able demon as far as I recall...
You can, but it's a slog and a half. Fairly worth it though, Futomimi's a damned fine bruiser.
Guess it's all just the point of view. I myself am a stupid sucker for happy endings, hence I like the neutral ending, even if that makes certain people look bad at me...
I didn't do this myself, but I guess I could see someone doing so
@TheFrenchGuy Yeah it's good, but the endings and how they're selected are 2 things that annoy me.
Honestly Building a City for Manikins and Only Manikins IS STUPID
They were going to get attacked for Mat-plot element sooner or later
Oh, I see, heh, I keep receiving and checking them all the time, heh.
Oh right, almost forgot, heh. I cut videos short very often. Some complain, but I want to save time and.... it creates comedic moments such as this hehe.
Ah okay, many thanks for the quick reply and help. ^^
Yyyyeah, I had to sacrifice a bunch of my time to give people this.
I hate how you can't save Futomimi, regardless of your choices:(
I've been showing all your guy's stuff on here to people and I thought about doing some sort of RPG podcast, where voice actors do stories I've written as a kind of show. There's a lot of material I never got around to putting in games and I thought this might be a nice, FREE way of putting out some things you guys never got to see in games. Would this be a good idea? Or is that kind of lame?
Thanks ^^
Someone knows the name of the song starts in 0:23?
What is the music called at 0:23?
Emmmm sorry to hear that
@buntado6 I honestly was never a complete NO aside from Shijima cause there you can't give a neutral answer. It's funny how differently the characters act
Chiaki, YES -> She's glad you agree
Chiaki, NO -> She's sad you don't agree, but she respects your choice
Hikawa, YES -> He's VERY surprised you agree with him
Hikawa, NO -> He's not surprised
Isamu, YES -> He KNEW your a smart guy so you'd agreee!
Isamu, NO -> He KNEW your a dumbass so you wouldn't agree
Isamu is a slimeball :p
do anybody now what song plays when Chiaki kill manikin? (we see him from behind)
@TrulySilentLie Oh snap, your right! It's not even a nice fade away... y'ouch!
@heyjeySigma I mix stuff together in a weird way heh
