Take a guy with you that can keep his mouth shut and is patient. They hate that and will offer you more for your trade and less on your payments. If you two whisper between you and he rattles his keys once after a salesman lies obviously, that sets them back. Introduce him as your neighbor/driver that gave you a ride if you are not trading in a car. He says," I came to see how you treat her before I come here for a car for myself." I had a dealer try and pull this on me after driving 200 miles to test a vehicle that they said was on the lot when I called before leaving.... Turned out that the finance manager was using it as a daily so I had to wait for him to bring it in. When I said I was ready to buy all of a sudden a whirlwind started. Finally the owner came out of the back, thanked me for coming to them because I had the highest credit score they'd seen in months. (they were looking for any excuse to not sell me the car...) Sitting the finance manager's office was a treat. He was FUMING. Swearing the whole. "If I'd have known they'd take that for it I would have bought it myself." The one and only time I felt good after buying a car.
One technique I’ve seen dealers use to cheat the algorithms that calculate “great”, “good”, “fair” and “overpriced” price ratings is to list the vehicle as having a higher trim level than it actually does. One of the worst examples I’ve seen was a dealership listing a used Ford F-250 King Ranch for sale. In their own pics you could see the XLT badge on it. Their price was “fair” for an XLT, but since it was listed as a King Ranch (one of the highest trim levels while the XLT is a more base level) the website said the truck had a “great” price. It artificially bumped the listing up and served to mislead shoppers. I contacted that particular website (rhymes with Schmar Burus) to complain about a fraudulent listing. They said they aren’t responsible for the accuracy of ad content, and that I should take it up with the dealership who placed the ad. I was surprised they willingly allow their system to be manipulated. Thanks for your informative vids.
They got paid, or will get paid, so some websites don't care. Legally they can blame the dealer for the "mistakes" if they get sued, claiming they have no legal responsibility to ensure every ad is correct.
My truck I just bought 4 months ago Was priced at $25,000 on the dealership website and when I went to them and the price on the dealership website was the same price in person.
Great information. People need to be aware of these line items and make sure they're actually discounts they qualify for. Many dealers will do this to also make them be the top in your personal list while you're shopping around local dealers. If they advertise this, then low ball your trade value, well, then they're not really saving you money. Make sure to hold them to their price AND make sure you get what you want out of your trade. I've found the lower end of the KBB value to be a pretty accurate estimate to what you can get for your trade. Keep both of those numbers in mind throughout the whole transaction. Great video once again Mike!

I ran across your videos and find them informative on things I was not aware of. I know you are a GM person as I am traditionaly. However, I ended up buying a 2013 edge with the 3.5. When the brake booster went out I was searching the internet for pricing when I came across an article pointing out that there was an issue with them and ford extended the warramtee. I took it to the local ford dealer and he had me make an appointment for a few days later. He also had looked at and entered the vin number into his hand held device. When I went for the appointment dropped the car off and the courtesy driver take me home. As we approached the gate of my community he called me and had me return. He informed me that it was not covered as it was not in the so called recall range based on the production date. I am suspisious of this as he had previously entered my information. I have searched where to find out the actual vehicles covered ie first generation. I even called a second dealer and left 4 messages and no call backs. Can you help me with this. I feel he lied to me so they did not have to fix it. I ended up borrowing the funds to fix and it was not easy as I am a disabled veteran. Thank you.
In the middle of a wonderful car buying adventure right now. I remember why I hate it so much. And qualifying for the best rates does absolutely nothing to make it less painful. Seems to make it worse tbh.
Saw an online price on a vehicle and when I went to the dealer the price was the same. Make sure you read the fine print like what you mentioned... you have to qualify! Also you have to read the additional charges for paper work.
the funniest ive seen so far this fall is my awd challenger options that are used have increased in price after 9 months on the lot and i keep being told i dont know what im talkin about til i show em the screen shot from my phe from months eariler. here in canada it is illegal to misrepresent a vehicle through advertising. keep up the great work, lookin forward to late feburay delivery of the c8 to see what will be availabe the folowing year off lease or trade.
I talked to you about 2 weeks ago on the phone! I purchased a 2022 Corolla SE from Beamon Toyota in Nashville TN. I paid MSRP. Taxes and fees were about $3000. I like the car but I find the whole process a pain! I have to have good transportation bc I live 64 miles from work. The cost of this car was 1/3 of my yearly income. I hate buying vehicles!
I was done like this once on a Ford Escape, got there and the vehicle was listed as new but had like 7k miles and all these bogus rebates like uber, military, first responder, etc all combined.
"Employee pricing" is such a scam. When I worked at dealerships, employees got cost + $1K, or less. There's NO WAY that would be offered to the public.
I just bought a 2019 Chevy Silverado LT all Star edition four-wheel drive.. got it at employee.. I paid 33,883.. after the employee pricing and all the rebates I got I ended up saving $12,800 off the manufacturer retail... I even got the dealer to throw in a rhino lining for free that was $500 value... I would have never bought a new vehicle if it wasn't for all the savings.. the way used trucks are right now you would be stupid not to buy new with all those rebates they offered.. I love my truck.. I love the remote start, the heated seats and steering wheel, the power driver seat, the touch screen radio and the dual climate.. it's got so much... I walked in there knowing what my credit score was and I knew I would get a good rate.. lol. the funny thing was when I talked to the salesman I told them that I wanted to finance through my credit union that I bank at.. when I was going into the finance guy to sign all the paperwork I said who did you have the loan through and he said u.s. Bank.. lol.. I said why in the world would I want to do business with a bank I'm not affiliated with I told him I wanted my bank. The interest rate they had with US Bank was a 4.19, when I had them switch it to my bank and only took a couple minutes and it dropped down to a 3.69 which I already knew that was the right because I already looked at the website and contacted my bank personally.. I used to work at a dealership many years ago when I was in my early twenties and I know they get a kickback if you accept a higher interest rate than you actually qualify for.. you have to know what your credit is when you go purchase a car or you will be scammed! I do love my truck and I am glad that I made the purchase
@Motor Fire They sent me the employee discount letter in December even though I'm not an employee. I did buy a 16 Silverado Z71 in 16. Thanks to you I know why they sent me that letter in December.
Boy do I wish I was buying a car in Kentucky. I would go looking for you soooo fast. Unfortunately I live in New York. I've been doing a lot of research but it so hard when the dealer is the one that has the knowledge.
I always contact a dealer via e-mail and flat out ask them to confirm the price as the bottom line. I always tell them to contact me via e-mail because I don't have my phone during the day (which is true). If they won't confirm the bottom line price listed online, I move to the next one.
100% agree. The last 2 cars I bought was done entirely over email. Out-the-door price was in writing from the dealer after any and all taxes, fees, and add-ons. And yes...do not give them your phone number. They will hound you repeatedly with phone calls.
Absolutely. I only do email quotes as well for OTD pricing. If one does not want to give pricing or won't clarify details I move on to the next dealer.
I bought my first car in 2016 the new updated Malibu at the time the car was 32 and internet price was 27 I walked in and they had it at 32 I mentioned the internet price and they honored it and on top of that they had extra discounts and I qualified for a few of them bringing it down to 26k to a pretty fully equipped lt Malibu
im happy you made a video on this i worked at a chrysler dodge jeep ram dealer over summer and their internet prices were basically what they got it for then they would add a few grand when people walked in a grand for dealer fees and the whole 9 yards....
I love your videos and I hate that my dealership does this practice. Our wedsite the way we are taught is the price you see is our "we own it" price. On new cars its the Invoice minus the freight($995 on most VW's), then add dealer options ($1,896) so suddenly that new car you think you are getting an excellent price on just went up by $2,891! This makes it very difficult to sell.
I just contacted a dealer about a truck. I asked him a few questions, is the price shown with rebates and if so what are all the rebates so I know which ones I will qualify for. He asked where I lived and sent me a worksheet with the price of the truck , rebates I qualify for, my APR, and lenght of the loan. I looked it over and noticed the price was 1500 dollars higher than the website showed it to be. ( I took a picture and sent him the truck ,price, and stock number at the beginning of our conversation) He said the dealership was closed for the day and we could go over everything on monday. I got back on their website a few hours later to look at the truck again and the price of the truck was 1500 dollars higher than it was when I first looked at it. ( I still have the original pictures and price). I live over 3-1/2 hours away from this dealer so this is a red flag for me. What do you think?
If they don’t honor the original sale price you first saw, and got a copy of I would not buy it Also, it should trigger what other tricks they have waiting for customers
In the beginning of 2004 I bought a 2003 Toyota Tundra with 6 K miles and they told me that it started at $18 K before TT & L and after paying $12 K down payment we got a bill 2 weeks later that totalled over $45 K including the $12 K down payment
Back in 2013, dealer tried to pull back a few promotional discounts from me claiming I didn’t qualify when I was buying a new Chrysler. I said I’d leave and look elsewhere. They relented and gave all to me since they knew I could buy by checking my prequalified status from the bank. Also, it was a Saturday and my guess is they had a hard target to sell a certain number of cars that day and needed mine to get there.
We have one dealership in our area that I will never go to again, nor recommend. They ran an ad years ago saying they would take any trade no matter how much you owed. At the time I had had a Chevette with a lien that was totaled. I bought a 77 Malibu Wagon (kind of leery of driving) and put the lien on it instead. Took it in, they refused to take it in trade. Next day their ad said they would take almost any trade. Then a couple of years back I saw a car on their website, made an appointment to test drive it, got to the dealership, it wasn't there, they said it was in one of their NC dealerships. I walked. Had another dealership put nitrogen in the tires and a treatment on the windshield. Wanted to charge me for the nitrogen ($99) and for the treatment ($399). I told them I would refuse to pay for that and walked.
Had a ford general manager that I worked for would put unattainable pricing on the web and people would drive from all over the place. He told the sales consultants to tell everyone you qualify for that price and that car is still here come on in. Needless to say the customer left furious when the found out they didn’t qualify for military, college grad, and a member of the fraternal order of police all at the same time. A former coworker at a Nissan dealership had a customer that told us a dealership in Maryland had a cheaper price Nissan Pathfinder than ours in Western Pennsylvania. We told her those rebates are based on your zip code and that you won’t qualify for it. Well she didn’t want to listen and drove there to find out she couldn’t buy it for that price. Always read the fine print and ask questions if your not sure. If it’s too good to be true then it probably is.
I got that bait-and-switch "internet price" runaround on a Kia Soul I was looking at - $2000 off a $19k MSRP, believable because they had four identical manual transmission Souls in the same color that had been in stock since November...
Apparently where I live dealerships aren’t allowed to advertise a vehicle without the fees, only thing they’re allowed to not have in the price is the finance interest and gst
The simple way to figure it out is call the dealership and have them send you a buyer's order with that price on it. Most of the time they'll blow you off. Sometimes they'll get everything ready for you and you just go in and sign. Ask how I got my Ram this year...
most Harley dealers don't list pricing on new bikes. They want the mystery to pack in ADP. Manufacturer rebates don't cut into dealer margin, so you're not getting a deal in terms of a dealer rolling back any profit. It's as if you paid MSRP in a sense.
Had a local ram dealer pull this on a power wagon.Advertised at 65000 down to 51000.Im looking at the truck on the lot and they said it was sold this morning. I said, isn't that it over there..nope,that's another one like it. Its equipment is the same but we can't let that one go for that price.
Anytime I have found a car on Cargurus that I am interested in. I always go to the dealer website and check it out. I know 3rd party websites can have outdated info sometimes. Also, I want to see if there is any "different" info. On used cars, always check the vin online. I have seen twice that the vin doesn't match the exact car and it's options. Also had one that the vin had one digit wrong so it came up as invalid. Turned out they didn't have the car in the picture. It was a "typo" on a car that had already sold. Yeah right.
Some dealerships post stock photos of cars because they're in a rush to get a new listing done. Sometimes they are sold before the actual vehicle photos are posted!
Each dealer has dealer cash that they dont tell you.The dealer also has sales quotas to meet so they can actually sell you a car at their cost and the dealer still make thousands off that deal.
cano malo lol no. Dealer cash is maybe $500 per car. Not thousands. Believe it or not, dealerships don’t make a whole lot of money on new cars. And it’s unlikely that they don’t put the dealer cash into the deal as a discount these days because of the internet. It’s too competitive

After you get their price and breakdown you start working that price down and get it in writing every time and if you can once you like the price they offered you in writing ... pay cash, but never tell them that until the very end. The ONLY FEES that are required are Tax, Title and License the rest are made up fake fees to pad the dealerships pocket - don't pay those, let them think you are going to finance through them.
Was looking for a Roush F-150. One dealer had them so low it was too good to be true. Several of them. Then you look at fine print and said this price does not include Roush Kit. Why not just list the price including conversion? Any dealer that does that is shady in my book.
According to their website, there is no further room for negotiation. They give their dealer discount price, the incentives from the manufacturer, etc. So Bachman is the equivalent of CarMax.
Sorry but trade allowance is complete BS unless your car is worth less than what the amount is. All they do is give you whatever the trade allowance is less than what your car is worth then add it back bringing it up to the ACV like your getting something. Your not. Shop your trade and find what its actually worth from a dealer that would buy it outright then use that number and make them give you the trade allowance on top of it. Also, when they use the MSRP and subtract the magic rebate numbers then give you price then add the freight charge in. The freight is already part of the MRSP and they are charging it to you again. Its on the window sticker.
I work at a Chevy dealership up here in Alaska and I mean some of the rebates you do have to qualify for so I don't know if this is misleading in any way am a big fan though
It’s a shame that dealers can also be scammers. I don’t want to deny them a profit, I just want to be treated with integrity. Fine print that you need a microscope to read or an attorney to interpret is not helpful. I appreciate that you want to have repeat customers and have acknowledged that a dealer may cheat someone and get away with it once. However, they will never see that customer or any of their friends and relatives again. Keep putting the customer first Chevy Dude and you will never be hungry.
Mike I was wondering if you could help me out! I am currently in the market for a 2020 Chevy Blazer and I came across your RUclips channel in this process. Very informative by the way. Here is what I could use your help with. I live in Las Vegas and I think I might be dealing with the dealership that you reviewed on this video. This can also be with motorcycles i was buying my. Yamaha and saw prices 2k less or more below msrp on a new bike just to call the dealer to find 2500 in fees on a 5k bike and 99%of these were out of state and i was towing it out so no temp tag or tax. And i work in service at a dealer so i know some real sharks who gave me advice. Long story short i drove 5 hours each way to the middle on nowhere in pa and got a good deal from a rare thing that a dealer could not be any more honest advertising in state out the the door price so i called knowing out of state would be less then that right on the phone they said out the door price for me being from nj and not pa. I had to pay tax title and reg in nj but that is calculated easily.
I’m shopping online for a used car and plan on paying cash for the car.... does this make a difference to the online price? Thank you for your time and help!
MSRP…which o my means the factory says it’s that..that’s not the real price. Use software in your area to see what they were sold for..that’s a better pic of what a car is worth.
why do the posted internet prices "YOYO" up and down from one day to the next on the same vehicle (same stock number)????I noticed this while searching the same dealerships over the course of a few weeks...are they running a scam?
Mike, I went out to dealer.com and created an account. But since I am not a dealership, I could not see the ratings. Would you do a video on using the research tools, and how to navigate them?
Why wouldn’t I work off the wholesale price of the car and then offer 3% profit after applicable rebates? Also, I looked at some of the cars you showed in this piece and KBB shows each of the prices on the Bachman website to be just slightly above or at the high end of the “fair market” price. While your advice may keep someone from getting scammed, it isn’t showing how to get the best price for a vehicle.
Dude, what's your take on buying at year end aka last week of Dec. Are dealerships truly deep discounting to boost sales numbers buy end of year? New Years day included in previous years totals?
Dan, it does vary from dealer to dealer. Some dealers really do need just a handful more sales on their new vehicles in order to hit their objectives. Sometimes, even if the dealer isn't going to hit the objectives, they'll push hard still because they may have committed themselves to that number and the only way to get it is to punch the unit as sold and use it as a service rental. If they can get a couple more sales and only put 3 or 4 into service rental instead of 7 or 8, they'll definitely do what they have to, within reason.
Happens to me everytime I contact a dealer about a top trim truck. It will be marked down to an really nice price and then I wanna talk and they go that truck lost all the discounts and rebates so you will need to pay near msrp unless you want a low trim
Gotta love the fine print at the bottom. While every attempt has been made to make sure the information listed above is accurate... we take no responsibility. I fuckin hate dealerships. If they’re not blatantly false advertising, they’re lying to your face. Fuckin snakes. Life lesson- Trust no one, Unless they’ve earned it, And keep some snake rounds just in case. That being said, I appreciate what you do on this channel. I wish there were more salesman with integrity.
So, your "trade in" offer is compromised when they just offer you less for the trade in.....and "doc fees", c'mon........thanks for taking the time. The many times I have bought cars from a dealer consists of the following; walk in, talk to a sales person then ask for the sales manager. Now, I will make sure the sales person is given credit for the sale but if I can't deal directly with the sales manager, I walk. Has served me well.....and the dealership(s) as well

Thank you.
Thank you for your service. It’s interesting that he hasn’t even answered your question for guidance.
I asked the questions in your other video before making the appt and they ACTUALLY GHOSTED ME!!! Dodged a bullet there!
Wish I would of found you before I bought my impala last week
the funniest ive seen so far this fall is my awd challenger options that are used have increased in price after 9 months on the lot and i keep being told i dont know what im talkin about til i show em the screen shot from my phe from months eariler. here in canada it is illegal to misrepresent a vehicle through advertising. keep up the great work, lookin forward to late feburay delivery of the c8 to see what will be availabe the folowing year off lease or trade.
You are a marketing genius man. Love your honest and information based approach!!
In Michigan the one you have to watch is GM employee pricing, that’s the one they use to bait you in,
"Employee pricing" is such a scam.
I'm curious if you would actually do a video on manufacturer incentives for volume dealerships and hold back below invoice price?
Thanks for all the information you provide and thanks for sharing Mike.
I bought my first car in 2016 the new updated Malibu at the time the car was 32 and internet price was 27 I walked in and they had it at 32 I mentioned the internet price and they honored it and on top of that they had extra discounts and I qualified for a few of them bringing it down to 26k to a pretty fully equipped lt Malibu
im happy you made a video on this i worked at a chrysler dodge jeep ram dealer over summer and their internet prices were basically what they got it for then they would add a few grand when people walked in a grand for dealer fees and the whole 9 yards....

excellent information - thanks but new car (especially truck) are simply insane. Yes, I am old :)
If they don’t honor the original sale price you first saw, and got a copy of I would not buy it
Also, it should trigger what other tricks they have waiting for customers
Great video once again Mike
I can't believe auto dealerships lie and scam you! That's new to me! Lol
Everything you talk about also work in Canada, Andre
I was told by a dealer last week that the customer cash allowance that is for everyone..that you don't get it if you take GM special financing offer.
The simple way to figure it out is call the dealership and have them send you a buyer's order with that price on it. Most of the time they'll blow you off. Sometimes they'll get everything ready for you and you just go in and sign. Ask how I got my Ram this year...
Very informative video. We have rebates everyone qualifies for on my dealer website and separate a list of additional rebates you may qualify for.
As a Las Vegan, this is the only time I've ever heard Pahrump referred to as "beautiful."
crazynova23 Are you different from a Las Vegetarian?
I once told a woman she had a beautiful Pahrump. :)
You make some really good videos........thanks for the helpful details.
Nice video! Gave me good information to add to my presentation project in my economics class!
most Harley dealers don't list pricing on new bikes. They want the mystery to pack in ADP. Manufacturer rebates don't cut into dealer margin, so you're not getting a deal in terms of a dealer rolling back any profit. It's as if you paid MSRP in a sense.
Star means "service loaner" but is listed with 2 miles?
Had a local ram dealer pull this on a power wagon.Advertised at 65000 down to 51000.Im looking at the truck on the lot and they said it was sold this morning. I said, isn't that it over there..nope,that's another one like it. Its equipment is the same but we can't let that one go for that price.
I just dealt with this same crap from Colorado Springs Dodge, their internet price includes rebates not everyone will qualify for.
Same for All Star Dodge Near Baton Rouge. They show you with 25k off. All the requirements to get that price is maybe .5% of the entire population.
Keep helping the public with this info
Buyers need to read the disclosures 🤦🏽♂️ it’s that simple
Thank you for the info Mike!
Is an extended warranty necessary? Do you recommend purchasing from dealer?
Or you can skip buying from a dealer at all buy from a private party pay the price they ask and deal with the sales tax and docs yourself.
Thanks for sharing that info mike and great video
Just around the bend here in Vegas. Love the vids.
@@TheCompyshop You are mistaken dude......watch this guys vides........................ruclips.net/video/hAZiHg0_jM8/видео.html
Got to ask the right question to get the expected answer, maybe ha ha ha . Thanks Mike.
Please make a video addressing depreciation & residual value depending on which make & model you choose.
Example on Silverado which trim level holds its value the best? Looking at 24 months vs 36 months vs 60 months
doc fees are a money grab too, those are a deal breaker for me unless otd is negotiable
like your vids.... always chevy
I know a dealership with lot of Bolts, but they lied to me and say it’s not available for purchase at the listed online price. Why, do they want me to not buy electric cars from them. I don’t have the money for a Tesla, which is why I’m even looking at a Bolt.
@6:12 You can use the desktop version on your smartphone by activating desktop mode in Chrome.
Gary Owen is back✊🏽!!! I’m ready lol!
Dont let youtube popularity get to you man! Please stay cool 👍🏻😎

I need help deciding on wat truck is best for me.. could u make a video on how to figure that out?
Great video brother keep up the awesome work cant wait to see your new vette brother
According to their website, there is no further room for negotiation. They give their dealer discount price, the incentives from the manufacturer, etc. So Bachman is the equivalent of CarMax.
Yes and we have been this way for over 13 years.
Great Vlog I just took your advice word for word and emailed a Jeep dealership here in central Ohio and I’m looking forward to their response.
Well how did it go?
I noticed you didn’t mention there name so I didn’t what to name them in the comments! Is there another way I could contact you so I could show or ask if this is the one.
What’s a good price to pay for a 2021 Chevy Silverado LT 4x4 2500? W/ the diesel and fake Allison transmission?
Ah. Yes, they love to put the price mixed in with all the incentives. I tell them I'll buy it at that price otherwise they can go pound sand.
Loved video
Should I buy service protection plan or packages from the dealer? If so which one?
Hey, you should do a price point review for the C8 ZO6. What is the expected base price, have yet to see one.
Is there a version of this for used?
Mike, I went out to dealer.com and created an account. But since I am not a dealership, I could not see the ratings. Would you do a video on using the research tools, and how to navigate them?
Why wouldn’t I work off the wholesale price of the car and then offer 3% profit after applicable rebates? Also, I looked at some of the cars you showed in this piece and KBB shows each of the prices on the Bachman website to be just slightly above or at the high end of the “fair market” price. While your advice may keep someone from getting scammed, it isn’t showing how to get the best price for a vehicle.
How is a FULLY DISCLOSED bonus cash a “form of a scam?”
What bout used vehicles?
Always ask for out the door price in email or text, if they don’t provide that walk away
Wait a minute… What was the last thing you said Mike?!!!! Did I hear you’re going to be driving a C8? It’s about time🤣👍🏻
Happens to me everytime I contact a dealer about a top trim truck. It will be marked down to an really nice price and then I wanna talk and they go that truck lost all the discounts and rebates so you will need to pay near msrp unless you want a low trim
Chick Fil-A that’s my job❤ sorry saw the cup got excited😂
Go to Mikescarstore.com and read the bottom of the car descriptions. 🥰😊
Gotta love the fine print at the bottom.
While every attempt has been made to make sure the information listed above is accurate... we take no responsibility.
I fuckin hate dealerships. If they’re not blatantly false advertising, they’re lying to your face. Fuckin snakes.
Life lesson-
Trust no one,
Unless they’ve earned it,
And keep some snake rounds just in case.
Has served me well.....and the dealership(s) as well
I’m shopping for a Lariat...... can you help. Dealers are not budging on the price. I have the financial purse set in place.
