Only prob is while a fictional movie the people were real , "the company" was real the colonel etc , my grandad worked for the company in the 60s , the demise was a planned coup an they tried to fly loads of mercs into a small island country in one plane

Not only did it feature amazing acting, a captivating story line, and a healthy dose of action it was also superbly accurate in touching upon a myriad of intertwining regional ethnic and political issues. Overall, the history that the movie described and the origins of that history was superbly well researched.
This is a GREAT film ... definitely A MUST SEE for everyone! VERY VERY touching! It made me cry in various parts. I don't know what you guys are saying, but really, his accent was great. I mean he pulled it off when not so many people could! His performance was outstanding! Leo definitely deserved that Oscar nomination for best actor which is for his role in THIS film! :) :)
I hope one day, when I become a journalist, I can interview Leonardo DiCaprio. To be able interview and listen to that man speak would be one of the highlights of my career. He is so interesting and so articulate and he seems to be so passionate about what he does, and interviewing him would be such an honour. I would probably just sit there and watch him talk. The Departed was his best film of 2006, but his best performance was this one. And you're right, both Leo and Djimon should have got their oscars. Especially Djimon, because he stole the show everytime he was on-screen.
What makes me so obsessed with him in this is that I already adore Leo... But then I absolutely fell in love with his character. I love that dynamic. I just saw it last weekend and I really liked it. I'm thinking of getting the DVD because it has the director's comments which are great. It's one of those films that gets you thinking for a while after you've seen it.
I enjoyed this movie and had a good cry as well *blush* I couldn't help but giggle in the scene where he spoke about G32 as I personally know a few soldiers from the G32 and a friend of mine does research and interviews with the soldiers ... he did that scene very well though and have to congratulate him on that! @@FrancesFotografia I think the other person was talking about lab grown diamonds which are the exact same as natural diamonds except they're cruelty free and I think they're even cheaper for now. They're still real diamonds with the exact same molecular structure, they were just grown in a lab.

I really enjoyed this movie, was given this DVD with a bunch of other stuff and when I watched it I was surprised at how much I liked it. I didn't even know it was made by the same director as Glory and The Last Samurai which are also good movies but after knowing that I figured out why it had such high production values.

This movie is what really made me think, 'OMGLEONARDODICAPRIOISSOMUCHWINOMGG!!' I mean, 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' made my eyebrows disappear into my hair for the entire length of the movie, but honestly, 'Blood Diamond' had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Oh my God, I started literally BAWLING my eyes out at the end (HE'S TOO GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES), and for the next few days I'd get randomly teary because I'D REMEMBER THAT SCENE. Leo SO should've won that Academy Award. xP
