Tromsø, Norway - Chasing The Northern Lights

- We spent 3 days exploring Tromsø in Norway.
During this time we were able to explore the city of Tromsø, discover the nearby fjords by land and sea and went on two hunts to find a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
For the whale watching tour we used Arctic Adventure Tours - arcticadventure...
For the Northern Lights and Fjord Excursion tours we used Chasing Lights - chasinglights.co/

Hi Edward, the northern lights are unpredictable due to weather so you're best to stay in Tromso and use that as a base. One night we nearly ended up in Finland and the next by the coast.
Shane Mc Grath yea I’ll be there for 7 days so I’m hoping that I find it no matter how long the distance is lol I’m also going to buy that like tourist package for the whale watching and sledding and lights so I’m hoping I’ll be able to see it with the lady

HOW DO YOU BOOK THESE TOURS I CAN'T GET THE SITE TO TAKE MY BOOKING FROM ENGLAND I CLICK THE START DATE IT TURNS DARK GREEN AND THEN JUST HANGS ANY TIPS?
Hi Eric Beckett are you still having issues booking? I tried to book there and it seemed to work fine. Alternatively, you should email them and ask to book away from the website. I hope this helps

Hi Barbora, I was there at the end of October. It was a great time to go as the Northern Lights were visible, the whale watching had just started and the snow was just starting to fall so it wasn't too cold.
Where is a good place to stay in tromso to go venture and see the northern lights? Or should I just buy like that northern light Aurora’s tour pass
Hi Edward, the northern lights are unpredictable due to weather so you're best to stay in Tromso and use that as a base. We went with a tour company Chasing Lights (chasinglights.com) and as their name suggests they chase the lights. One night we nearly ended up in Finland and the next by the coast.
It was in November ? I wonder if in early March we can see northern lights :S
Paulina Vázquez Quintana yes this video was filmed in October/November. It’s definitely possible to see them in March. However like every other month it all depends on the weather conditions and solar activity.

cowtan228 I used a really high ISO and slowed down the shutter speed to about 3 seconds in order to capture it

cowtan228 I used similar settings, high ISO and longer shutter speeds. The settings will change based on the conditions and colours you want.

Hi titir, thanks for the comment. I used a company called Chasing Lights (chasinglights.co/) for both the Northern Lights and whale watching. I was in Tromso for 3-4 full days. The whale watching is done in the morning and the northern lights trip goes in the evening then.

Hi I am here in March no whales until October the lights are visable all over tromso however you need to be away from lights to see them properly i used tromsosafari minibus auroras tour its 4 hours and they take you to the best viewpoints and best backgrounds for pics and they will take pictures for you. Take a small led torch to enhance the foreground of your pics don't go on the boat to take photos of the lights because you need night settings and the boat is movingly will get blurring The lights came out 3 times and it was spectacular hope this helps
Don't forget extra batteries for cameras
