I did not read Bump as an enemy of the Huskies in his comments, he just asked relative questions. I don't put too much stock in analysts, but if they are to do their job, they need to ask the difficult and inconvenient questions And as for the Michigan D Line, the Huskies played against the Oregon D line, twice; the Utah D line; the Texas D line; all of which were supposed to tame the Huskies O line, and it didn't happen. I don't expect a absolutely clean game against a great Michigan D Line, but Penix doesn't panic, and they have not met an offense like the Huskies all year, so I still think that the Huskies have at least an even chance in this game.. Additionally, the Huskies seem to feast on being underdogs, so that doesn't matter at all. The game is played on the field, not in gamblers, or analysts mouths. Two great teams are going to meet in a great game, one will walk away a winner, the other will walk away with their heads held high, it has been a great season for both of them. As a Michigan fan, I'm TERRIFIED of Penix and his receivers/ Tight Ends. Washington has the best receivers I've seen in a long time. The Michigan defensive line is the strength of the team and they will have to put constant pressure on Penix to win.
If you are going to host a show like this, you should at least know what you are talking about. Stacy talked about "...all those Michigan 5 stars". Michigan only has 2 five stars on their whole roster. Our team is built with 4 star and 3 star players. But they stay around for 4 or 5 years, making a much better team.
The stars have indeed aligned for Washington in this last 2 years, but UW is not going to be up the in the top tier of the B1G, not with any regularity -- that'll be Michigan, Oregon (20 4-stars incoming), and Ohio State. And the reason is recruiting. The aforementioned teams are top-10 recruiting programs. There's a reason why your Georgias and Alabamas have the sort of consistency they have. UW has a fantastic team this year, though. With an excellent game day coach. I think this is a pickem.
There is no debate, the number one offensive QB in the nation in Penix 4,648 yards 35 tds 10 sacks, verses the number 40 in McCarthy 2,851 yards 22 tds 18 sacks - a huge advantage! Thats with taking into account the Husky 2023 football strength of schedule, 32 versus Michigan 47. Michigan is gong to run the ball on the #97 ranked Washington defense. It will be 3-5 yards and a cloud of dust. Mix in some passes, move the chains and have long drives ending in TDs. This will keep Washington's offense off the field and keep Michigan's defense fresh. Once UW's defense is exhausted, it will open up big plays for the Michigan offense. One of the key aspects of Michigan's defense is the ability to control the ball on offense. This will be HUGE on Monday evening. Lastly, Penix will be "on the deck" alot during the game, this will severly disrupt and limit Washington's passing game.
