Read the TED caption and the context of him sharing his history made a heap more sense, then the name clicked. I had no idea what a powerhouse he is behind Beyonce’s success. This is a person with true passion

I've discovered that, during this whole thing, that smoking a joint going for a nice long walk listening to Ted talks is incredibly satisfying. And nearly free.

I really resonated when he said that some people just won’t see your vision. If an idea is too far outside of people’s comfort zone, it will be pushed to the side or disregarded. Sometimes the world needs to catch up to you rather than you always appeasing the world.

I get that, I think because people aren't really hearing each other!

Well this is quite the journey, humble beginnings, first in so many schools, created Destiny's Child, father of Beyonce and dealt with his own Cancer. Each destination keeps this man pretty calm, collected and connected to a higher power and passion. Yes yes, its all about the journey

I like that he's open enough to talk about his mistakes as well as his successes! That part kind of gets glossed over in a lot of TED talks but realistically you don't normally get one without the other

It is the journey. So very true. All we have is this moment here and now. We might have goals and hopes, dreams and aspirations, but we are only living here in this moment now. So much can be lost if you are only focusing on the goal.

Great opening with being present and acknowledging the people in the room. Not scripted and polished. A man with a story, where he came from and how he got here. His family has grown and continues to grow legacy.

A truly impressive demeanor, I can tell he operates by feeling things out and that makes him very relatable and admirable that he's had such success.

Pretty amazing story, he's never been to an African American school, being one of the first in grade school and university. I guess being one of the first in the educational process taught him even more about how this world works and how you have to work it. There's something about showing up in life, that gives you life.

I'm sorry but I do not vibe with him being like 'I only decided what I'm going to talk about five seconds ago' Either you're lying, or you're disrespecting the people who have come to see you by putting in zero preparation.
