I've had my 14 Diavel for 2 years and still absolutely love it. The suspension can be hard but I have mine wound right off and it's good now. I ride very twisty roads just north of Brisbane, Australia and it really is fantastic and very capable through the twisties. I have Michelin RS tyres on the bike and they really make the handling and confidence great. Sticky as hell. One thing with this bike is you must have good tyre pressures otherwise it knocks the handling right off, you need to have about 42R & 40F, The main thing is: Every time I take the bike for a ride I come back with a HUGE grin on my mug, even after 2 years.

good on you mate. Still stuck with the old monster myself/ I always beenn scared by the notion that the Diavel has like 8 different ECU... any way enjoy it. I bought mine at Brisbane Motorcicle on Lutwitche .

Is it a reliable bike? I really want one but if its not so reliable i would stick to a yamaha😔
@@Snotroggel453 I haven't had any issues with the bike other than replacing a rear hub bearing at around 36,000 kms. The bike has been very reliable and a pleasure to own.

Hi Aussie Sam I am keen on a 2019 Ducati Diavel 1260S and was interested in your feedback on reliability issues and potential heat issues over summer riding on Brisbane Northside and out over Mt Nebo & Mt Glorious? Also are the Pirellis it comes with a good tye choice ?
Just bought the same bike (21 reg) with full Termi exhaust. Struggling now waiting another 2 days to pickup!

Just returned from a test ride of this. Yes, there is a slight bit of jerkiness at slow speeds but you can work around it. What's interesting is that the dealer told me the jerkiness is totally eradicated if you go for the Termignon pipes option.
I think if you are spending that kind of money on the bike you must fit a termi to it and standard pipe is too quiet 😜
When I first got back into road bikes in 2015 I nearly bought this but settled with an mv dragster rr. There is still something I like about these and they are pretty quick through the twisties of you're confident
It defies logic as handles really well even with the huge back tyre and when you are pushing the bike hard it doesn’t even feel that big, credit to the Ducati engineers 👍

Great vid as usual, thanks. Re the suspension, I'm sure you can get the suspension perfect for most roads if you experiment, which isn't easy when you've only got the bike a few hours. A few weeks back I went down a 25 mile route which saw me out the seat more than in it...it was terrible. After lots of tinkering with the settings the whole bike feels 100% better in all conditions...plusher and yet with more feedback and feel when pushing it. I'm amazed how noticeable even one click is on the Ohlins.
Yes mate, I’ve never been let down by a set of ohlins so I was guessing with a bit of personalising it would improve it no end, thanks for the comment as makes total sense 👍
I agree the black with that bit of red and perhaps add some other red things to it would look very nice

Go for it as life’s too short I say!! That 1260S was superb, looks amazing and is super fast! Just make sure you get the suspension setup to your weight and riding style as I found it not that great in standard factory setup!

Great review Mark. Having had a 796 Hyper, 848 Streetfighter and 1199 Pannigale (currently own a S1000XR), this bike appeals to me, however - you’re correct when you say it doesn’t feel planted . I rode 14 Diavel and it did feel light on the front end. Great bikie great review.

It's a great bike considering the fact that this is the first cruiser released by Ducati.
The rear suspension is crap on these bikes. The linkage creates too much piston speed, and the shock fails fairly regularly because it gets tortured to death. I'm having mine rebuilt tomorrow by a specialist suspension shop. The result should be interesting..
Had a Carbon Red a few years back but the slower handling in the turns and the harsh suspension which Just isn’t adjustable enough to suit UK roads meant It had to go. Love it’s looks and like you say the engine is superb but for me it’s not really the bike for long rides.
Agree with you mate, definitely not a bike if you could only ever have one bike but would still love one for the odd blast out 👍
The new Diavel with Olins suspension is a pleasure to ride and it's just as easy to turn as my last bike (MT-10). The beauty of the Diavel is that it's multiple bikes in one, it's a naked, a sports bike and a cruiser so you only need one bike in your garage. I can also confirm that the new Diavel is very comfy on long rides, the seat is plush and the upright riding position easy on the back.

Old clutch brake fluid reservoirs from the 1st gen Diavel look old hat and paint will bubble eventually like every gen 1 and 2 I've seen.
19:45 the narrator mentions the handling completely misses it has ohlins and could be adjusted says it could be chassis or tyre?
Was just my first impressions mate, and yes the onlins could be adjusted and that’s exactly what I did on another ride but it made no difference to ride quality or handling 😬

I much prefer the eternal look of the VMax, (when you've reached perfection why change) but,the V MAX is a really heavy sob and not recomended for shrimps like me - I.m only 5.6 - 17o lbs - I know people my size that ride them wirh confidence, but I suck even if I've been ride for 40 years.
Yes , I LOVE THE Vmax, BUT I still believe never buy a bike you can't possibly lift if it fell down.

@@lorenzomagazzeni5425 Lifting a bike is down to technique, I've seen tiny women lift huge Harleys before.

It's smooth at low speeds if you have it in URBAN mode (not TOURING as in this video).

Plush suspension on diavel? S- means sport! Will be set up as a sport bike that's why... This is serious sport bike monster is naked softy...
The new chassis looks virtually identical to the XDiavel..I guess they shit canned the old Diavel chassis in favor of this.
It's just a shame this new e10 petrol fucks up the Ducati's petrol tanks. Well every plastic petrol tank when it comes to that matter.

fantastic bike, almost in the top 5 in sport cruise/tour segment top of the class is zx 14r, nothing comes close to it in the class except h2sx and busa. after those 3 is the sdr and sdr gt, and after those then you come to the diavels
Do you think there is any similarity between the Ducati and the Yamaha VMAX? I have doubts on which one to buy. Is there anything different about Ducati that does not compare to VMAX?
Sorry mate but I’ve never ridden a VMAX, gets it comes down to which feels better, all I know is that when I rode the Diavel I couldn’t stop smiling and it looks amazing too, not sure I’d feel the same on a Yamaha 😬
when you ride those 2 long enough, they are one and almost the same, ducati is faster, yamaha more reliable, maintenance and parts cost, there it is, huge difference at least in the us. it all depends on your riding style and access to those beautiful engines with seats and handlebars on em' ... i own a 1st and 2nd gen vmax, my brother a 14 diavel.... love'em all!!
I’ve ridden both and found the diavel much more entertaining to ride. I’ve ridden over 40 different bikes and the vmax is one of the most disappointing...

My neighbour has one and loves his. But what is it for other than pissing HD riders off? can't throw it around, not fast enough to annoy sports bike riders and would you do any distance on it?
It handles better than you think and in a straight line would keep up with some seriously fast bikes no problem, does the bike make any sense? Probably not but I still loved it 😜

The 2 Ducati’s I had were pretty much flawless, also a few of my mates have various Ducati models with not one issue 😬
12 years monster: zero issue
Audi bought Ducati in 2012 and after that, the reliability went up.
