Video came just in time! I just found mold growing outside my terracotta pots. And now i'm more conscious of what i put inside the soil. Glad to meet another plant lover!
So helpful! I had the mold issue with one of my leca converted plants and I was thinking it was to do with the pot being too large/ too much water. Thanks so much for confirming - super helpful and what a beautiful plant!
What do you mean by humidifiers passing spores? They just add water into the air, just like when you shower or when you leave a tray with water near plants. Spores travel by air when it circulates, but if there's a constant air flow it's harder for them to germinate.
I wonder if she means when bacteria accumulate in the humidifier. I have read about humidifier care, which includes drying after use, periodically cleaning with vinegar, etc. to maintain a clean humidifier
Same problem but with lechuza pon amd this makes total sense! The one plant I’m having a problem with I did pull it up gently while potting it and I think the roots stretched out like you said.
I put 80 %leca in the pot. Took most of the dirt out of my string of pearl and place it on top of the leca. Fill any gap with pumice. I did the same with any fine roots plants and they work fine
This is nutrients that the plant did not eat/absorb...next watering, fill to the top of the pot reverse osmosis or distilled water-let sit 20 minutes, drain off...white will be gone
Does that mean you don't bother with soaking the leca for new plants if you aren't leaving water in it at first? So sanitize leca, dry it out then pot the plant with it, run water through and add a tiny bit of water in about a week?
I kill anthuriums and spider plants every time with root rot so I quit buying them. Yet Hoyas, Chinese evergreens, and snake plants thrive in my care. I’ve concluded not every plant loves me and that’s ok.
