Can't wait for your tour. My most successes on leca are: spider plants, pothos, caladiums, cane begonias, monsteras, tradescantia, orchids and syngoniums. I have them in glass containers and nursery pots, what changes is how often I water them, here in Scotland our water is very pure so I haven't had any issues with buildup, my main issue is root rot, so now I am very careful with how much water I use. Thanks for sharing, seeing your jewel orchid gives me hope as I lost one in leca, I must try again!
@@prettyinplants9580 yes I have around 60 plants in leca, but I have killed around 10... and even I have 60 plants in leca every time I am transferring a plant from soil I get super nervous and a bit stressed, but once I see the plant growing roots, bouncing back and being happier than in soil I know it was the right decision. Plus the only time I see fungus gnats is when I bring a new plant, but as they seem unable to lay eggs on perlite and leca then my problems with them are over!! I also haven't noticed any other pests yet in leca... only powdery mildew on begonias but that is spores no insects.
Such good tips; thank you 😊 I have some water propagated Sansevieria cuttings, which I deicded to pot in LECA, since they were already used to being in the water. I got the General Hydroponics fertilizers and hope the cuttings thrive.
I want to share with you my recent favorite planty purchase. I bought two Solartec hanging pendant grow lights. They were spendie, but after reading all the positive reviews I decided to give it a try. I can honestly say I am so happy I did. I hung them in corners that previously had a standing lamp with three grow bulbs. The Solartec light uses less electricity but is brighter than the three bulbs put together. I have only had it a few weeks, but I kid you not, my plants have perked up and all grown a new leaf or two since using the new grow light. I am so happy with them and wanted to share with you.
I cannot wait for the houseplant tour! That is amazing the Triangularis is growing new leaves....so exciting. The plant with your straw trellis is a monstera Standleyana. They are beautiful. Love, love, love your vids!
I am very surprised when I transfer my Scindapsus/satin pothos. Easy breezy transition and it behaved same as when it was in soil. Got really wrinkled leaves when the water reservoir is dried. I hope someone would send me a cutting of scindapsus exotica. I wanted to try it in LECA as well because I know it will do amazing 😉 hoyas are easy as well. They’re all crowded in my heat mat. thanks for your videos. Half of my plant collection is in LECA.more to convert 😊 God bless you always
Do you use the H2O2 straight (3%) or is it diluted? I keep trying to find this info. I used it straight on one plant and it seemed to have killed the plant. The roots didn't rot they just shriveled up and smelled like peroxide. So I am assuming you do not use it straight. Or do you rinse the roots after the peroxide dries? So many questions, and I've watched so many of your videos. Please point me in the right direction for using peroxide.
I have recently transferred my ring of fire to leca and had to put it in water as it wasn't taken on the leca. But to be honest I think it was very weak from the soil... I have had it for 8 months now and all leaves grown on soil turned to mush, that's why leca was my last resort... hopefully will root nicely and I can pass it into semy hydro once more to be happy forever after :)
Thank you so much for educating us on Semi-hydro! I'm new to indoor gardening, but want to begin transitioning a few of my plants soon. Have you had success with transitioning Peace Lily's to semi-hydro? I don't recall any mention of them in any of your videos and I have been searching the you tube world for information about this as well, but all I can find is Hydro water peace lily care. Any advice you can provide would be extremely helpful.
Do you ever worry that plants in leca would not thrive long term? I only started semihydroponics over a year now. And I've read somewhere that it's not good long term.regarding your question.. I was really surprised that my euphorbia trigona did so well in leca since October last year I placed her on a clear jar and she rooted so quickly.
That’s a great question! Most plants , especially houseplants, are tropical in nature and grow on trees and up the forests (not in dirt). I do have a friend who has been growing in LECA or something similar for 30 years, and he found a lady who has had the same hoya in SemiHydro for 35 years (I DESPERATELY want to interview her) also, check out the orchid girl and some of the orchid channels that have been growing in LECA upwards of 10 years now. This was popular in the 80’s and there was a trilevel company that sold the pots for passive hydro...and it never took off...so here we are again...
is your hydrogen P full strength or diluted when you spray roots. and when you say dry is it lightly dry or hours you wait to spray with the thrive. I am waiting for my supplies to come to try this with a plant.
I just transferred my Hoya Kerri into leca about a week ago and yesterday I checked almost all the root have rotten and no new root growing. So I put the plant into water with super thrive. Is that the right treatment? Will it help to place under a growing light? So stressed about it. Just started indoor planting and totally new to leca. Wish me luck
Hi! Yes don’t be stressed about this just put it in the water -peel off the rotten roots get some roots growing - and the light always helps as well as a little humidity
They’re not the type of plant that like much water at all! Esp variegated ones. Maybe spaghnum moss the roots and then pot that way as that prevents root rot..
You had me at “I hate advertisements” and “So that’s my gift to y’all.”
Instant sub.
LOL

Ooh! You have so many! I feel like my jewel was pretty upset at first....and then it calmed down

My spider plant hates me
The only pests I have are ones that rose home-discovered scale and some mealy bugs...but once treated-nothing

Thank you for the feedback!
Pretty In Plants looking forward. I transplanted my plant to leca. You are one of my favourite channels to see. Cheers!

Thank you for your beautiful comment! So happy for your scindapsis
Where does a person purchase Jute? Maybe a yarn store?
Lowe’s, Home Depot, hobby lobby
The plant shown after the monstera Peru is a standelyana.
Thank you!

2 tbsp per gallon of water

It will recover...I think mine had issues as well...happy it is growing roots in water❤️

Apparently Peace Lily's LOVE semi-hydro. I'm considering moving mine to it.
I’ve heard they love it...have not done one myself

@@prettyinplants9580 that would be amazing if you could interview her!!!
I knowwww...I asked Jerry, who had mentioned her (he’s the owner of easygrogydro) if I could contact her...and he never got with me about it
@@prettyinplants9580 I also noticed that epiphytes love semihydroponics. My 2 dischidias are super happy. Just not sure about other plants.
My ficus are all thriving as well

Full strength (3% is what is available from the grocery) some roots dry in 10 minutes-some dry in 10 hours
How long does plant shock usually last? I'm trying to get a feel for how long my plants can look sad before I need to worry they're truly dying 😅😂
Some plants never show, some 3 days, some 3 weeks...around 7-10 days you can check the roots to see how it’s going underneath
