2023 Update: After 400+ hours, I eventually reached a point where my salt levels would often override any fun I was having and for the sake of my sanity, I uninstalled DBD. I never thought I'd enjoy stabbing people this much, but here we are. What do you think of Dead by Daylight? Favorite killer/survivor to play as? If you'd like to see more of my content, here's the Critical Nobody playlist - bit.ly/2M3r65U
Its rough and gets bad at higher ranks cause all the unfun things tht can happen. Also RCPD sucks. Pig is the laxest killer though since her traps are garbage.
Evil Dead is far from a DbD clone. It's like an asymmetrical Left 4 Dead where one play is basically a dungeon master vs 4 survivors who loot and shoot. It's quite different and fun
Evil Dead could be called a REsis clone. Truth is, DbD was the first game to popularize the 4v1 asymmetrical genre. L4D VS was nothing more than a bonus mode that a small chunk of people played and any other game with a similar style of gameplay never managed to become nearly as popular as DbD.
I wish the there are more varieties of things to do for survivors instead of just doing generators. Even if it is visual varieties like replacing a gen with a shrine that the survivors has to pray at or cleanse, scarecrow to disassemble, or other things. Maybe a coal engine where you have to find coal to feed to activate, find a lighter to burn effigies. Even a different type of door to escape from depending on a map theme. Have caved in entrance that needs to be blown up, a bulldozer to smash open, a magical portal to open up.
I’ve always thought there should be an optional “map event” that happens once per game. The only one I can think of is the ski resort, say you get a warning of an incoming snow storm, and the snow outside gets blinding for a short time for all players.
Finally! I waited so long for this after seeing you multiple comments under DbD videos. As for the game, it definitely have problems with balance and cheaters, but it's still engaging. Worth at least trying out. And 200 hours is really small number for this game. I have about 850h and still consider myself a newbie. DbD have a lot of details and general info to absorb and learn.
@@ShintyShinto Very appreciate your concern, but if you played DbD or any multiplayer game that has more complexity to it than Cookie Clicker you would know that the height of a skill ceiling is immense in it for both sides. And as for the killers, each of them have their own playstyle that can be mastered which requires a lot of practice. So yes, 850 hours is not a lot for DbD.
@@Vasiliy9hells I'd like to think skill is a little more nuanced than just complete mastery of the game or being a noob, and isn't linearly proportional to playtime. The core gameplay loop of both survivors and killers doesn't take that long to learn or even master. What does take long is the ass busting grind of unlocking perks and killers just to have the freedom to experiment.
@@ShintyShinto You could've saved us both a lot of time if you told right away that you did not played DbD, you know. No person that least tried killers like Nurse or Huntress or Oni against at least half-decent group of survivors, would never say that they are take little time to master. The same goes for a survivors. Knowing the "core gameplay loop" alone will not get you far if you do not know map layout, common tiles, how to efficiently loop and chain them, when to throw a pallets, how to mindgame, etc. Just watch some of the DbD content creators with many times more playtime that myself and what can they do with the killers power. And even they are still constantly learning!
@@Vasiliy9hells This is bullshit. I was familiar with the layout of each map (there aren't many) within my first 50 hours. Proper use of tiles and pallets shortly after. Mindgames are up to the individual and to some come naturally. I'm not saying having lots of experience doesn't help or there isn't always room for improvement, but it's not like you need thousands of hours to be good at the game. I've played against players with over 2k hours who sucked ass, and players with less than 500 who swept the floor with my ass. I just can't take "850 hours is still new" seriously. What most of it boils down to is the absolutely insane grind BHVR have set up just for players to achieve basic variety. It'd probably take longer to unlock every killer and teachable in the game than it would to git gud at them.
Thats a really good point I wish more people understood. I feel like FAR too many people act as if getting anything but a 4K or having every survivor escape. Means they lost. When in reality you should be averaging like 2 kills a game long term.
17:27 an idea that seems to have ground but in practice it’s stupid and absolutely fails… cause it’s what they kinda do already. “We decided to do X to focus on Y”. But man’s memory is short. None remember how stupid these devs have been!
The biggest problem with the game is out they handle updates. The release an update a week which sounds good right? No you see after they finished an update they immediately start a new one and will only work on that....... So lets say their newest update breaks something very important like the killer's terror radius or all the Hooks on the map are bugged out so you can't interact with them then that doesn't get fixed for two weeks...... This has happened multiple times where the game is unplayable for one side.
I'm still surprised how big this game has gotten. I remember playing it with friends... a long time ago. Must have been around the time it released 2016-2017 and we found the experience very mid(my friend group actually unanimously refunded the game). It must have gotten a lot better since then
Dbd used to be terribly designed with the insta kill moris and keyboard mashing required. Just fixing those issues has made the game a lot better in my opinion.

It's not a good waste of time i.e. good entertainment like a movie, show, book or other games. DbD has no goal, DbD has no reason for you to keep playing. BHVR will never fix the game, quite the opposite actually, they'll continue to ruin the game over time, more and more, and the cycle of people quitting and new people picking it up will just continue to happen. There's nothing there of value. Just the same old 4v1 where 80% of the time you'll either wait in the lobby, wait for the game to finish loading or sit on a gen repairing it while your teammates will act like they have a combined IQ of 6. The fleeting moments are not worth the hours you have to put into it to experience them. I haven't watched this video, I don't know what CN's opinion on the game is and I don't care quite frankly, but take it from someone who has started playing prior to them switching to self-publishing again (Feb 2018) and who has wasted 1600 hours on that game. I have a friend who has 6000+ hours and he literally has the same stance on the game. Anyone who I knew who has played it for any extended period of time will inevitably come to dislike the game, because there's no point in playing it.

I got into dbd because one of my friends got it and started talking about how fun it was and said me and the rest of our friends should get it. I decided to watch some videos on it and found RUclipsrs like Demi and saw the videos slimecicle and Cr1tical made on them and decided to try it out with my friend that suggested we get it. We played a couple rounds as survivor and it became one of if not my favorite multiplayer games I’ve ever owned. The rest of my friends got it a little later and it has become one of our main games to play on the weekend.
I’m glad you enjoy the game it’s really fun and awesome to get your mind off things I’m sorry about the situation your in and hope it gets better over time.
I got "hooked" on this game.. no pun intended 🤣 there was times when being chased by the killer was so scary I literally had to let the killer catch me and kill me just to make the fear stop haha 😄
3k hours here and I won't scoff at your count. You got past the first 10 and stuck with it and I'm proud. Just keep with a chill mindset and don't hesitate to uninstall if it gets too frustrating. This game can and will break you if you're not careful. If you ever wanna learn any cool tips that you probably didn't know, feel free to look my name on steam. Same as it is here! I'd love to help! :>
I watch all of your vidoes Craig and theyre all good. However, it seems the algorithm is punishing you for not making longer videos about single player games. I genuinely hope you find a way to get consistent numbers. You deserve them more than most gaming channels. Your undeniable passion for games is infectious.
Uploader: I have 200 hours Average DBD fan: you need 20000 hours and a degree to understand the science behind running in circles and loop! Skill checks are hard! Every killer is weak when I play and every killer is OP when I die!
Having to pay for the game, dlc and currency is complete bullshit. they should make unlocking killers or survivors easier like rainbow six siege and make cosmetics say in loot boxes like overwatch
You only pay for the game and dlc. Currency is earned unless its a licensed killer and some cosmetics. Thats your fault for coughing up cash for a game you bought already cause you liked Leon or something. Fuck loot box's lol
I was around when beta was a thing for about a week, i was given a code by a random person who was giving a code to a random person, (whoever you are thank you) and was given it. The beta was by far my most fun experience ever with a couple friends. Running from hillbilly was terrifying. Nurse is still as broken as is now but reworked. Etc etc, i dropped the game after myers came out but never truly left the game, more the toxic community at the time is what drove me off. I recently been watching more and more dbd again and ready to return. And now that wesker the chad himself is joining the roster im rearing and ready to go. Anyone who wants to play this game, go head. Its got some hella nice content
Been playing this game for 5 years and have loved every second of it. I’m hoping the new wiggle mechanic is edited a little bit but other than that it’s a simple yet complex game that is simply great.
I play this game since 2018, started on ps4 then moved to steam, but this year I decided to uninstall it and never play again because as killer, I almost always lost the match and survivors were always toxic ( in EU server games at least ) and every match they would t-bag and flashlight clicking ( I'm not even exaggerating ) - so if its not fun, why bother - it just felt very hard to let it go after thousands of hours and having fun at the beginning as killer, when survivors were much easier to kill
Yeah, thats the thing with Dead by Daylight....once you start playing, its very hard to stop. I had almost 6000 hours on that game (in total combining xbox, pc, friends pc and consoles, playstation, mobile), it was my life for like 2 years lmao
I thinnk DBD stands out because actual gameplay is super simple andnyour goal is eazy to understand. But with how perks and add-ons work and then know what killer you are playing or how to loop as survivors these things make the game super deep . the game is one of only a handful of games that seamlessly swap the competition/casual play very nicely I dont have to sweat all the time (have to more now with sbmm) if you dont wanna
I just picked up the game this year I got the ultimate edition on Series X the only things I really even play online now I'm mostly co-op focus games or call of duty online but this has been an exception so I'm enjoying it quite a bit except for the toxic survivors that like spam the same garbage every now and then
Dead by Daylight is my most played video game of all time. No matter how many times I try to quit it, I always find myself diving back in for that "one last game".
This game is a rough game. If you play long enough this game gets so repetitive if your at the high ranks. Sadly a lot of people left this game because the developers didn’t do much to fix the complaints the community had(MMR being the big one). Hopefully the devs really listen and make a good community. Crazy to think there are 200 perks but only like 10 are good
DbD is the one game that forced me to turn off messages from randos. I received too many death threats playing this game within the first month of playing
I kind of wish you made another video on dbd, lots of problems you spoke about have been fixed, characters are cheaper, camping is no longer an issue, the games meta changed a lot and they're adding new gamemodes. I know you don't play it anymore but I would love to see your opinion on all these changes
If someone as killer feels that they have to avoid tunneling or camping to make the game not so easy for them and giving survivors a chance, then your game is not balanced at all. There is literally no real reason to not tunnel and camp as killer, these are the most effective ways to win a match, maybe not that funny, but still. I dont usually go there calling the killers names or whatever because they tunnel, i just feel that is a shame that the game is not well balanced
I recently got hooked on this game as well. Perfect timing as they just added Sadako from Ringu, who was the source of virtually every nightmare I ever had growing up, besides E.T.
Dead By Daylights biggest issue is it’s community. There’s some absolute toxicity that’s been there since I started playing that makes the game absolutely dreadful sometimes.
I'm getting back into the game now with the new anniversary event, I also have 400h of gameplay and honestly the developer made a lot of mistakes with the game but now it looks like it's really going to change, and even if the game gets bad, now we have evil dead to play
i played when it first came out and had a blast. but coming back to it and everyone has rank 3 of skills i don't stand a chance. I wish there was a mode for turning those off so it's more balanced for new and returning players
I got Dead By Daylight on sale and after a few days on playing, I couldn't enjoy it. I think the killers are a bit too fast, especially when they Attack. They can easily catch up to survivors. And once I get spotted, I definitely know I'm gonna get taken down when I try to get away. Maybe I'm just a noob and others can get away from the killers with no problems.
Maybe you're a noob?? You literally just said got it on sale and after a few days didnt enjoy it. You are 10000% a noob lol cause you haven't enough time to learn the maps and killers. So it makes sense you wont like it when other have hours on ya, maybe Predator Hinting Grounds would be your speed. You can hunt the Predator as its pretty squishy
While I agree about DBD having multiple licenses instead of just having one like the other games, I believe that specialising in one license instead of multiple means that the games can go more into the killer's powers than DBD can
But at what cost? It gets stale and nobody wants to play it for longer than six months if theres no variety. Look at Friday the 13th or that Predator game.
I have ovr a hundred hours as well, and I love the fuck out of this game, so I'm just happily watching, out of gratittude that one of my fav titles is getting the attention it deserves.
Overall I think DbD is a game with an insane amount of potential that's kinda wasted in the hands of BHVR. I feel like if a better dev team picked it up or if BHVR got its shit together, then it would probably be one of the best games in history.
The battle pass in DBD is a good investment if you play the game a lot and don't want to spend money on cosmetics. The battle pass cosmetics are not perfect or the most unique but if you manage to finish the battle pass, you get a full refund which you can use to buy another battle pass.
I played this game since release or shortly after and I was heavily addicted to it (I only played survivor tho) but damn can the community be toxic especially in higher ranks, after 4 years or so I was only playing it bc I had been playing for the past years even if I didn't enjoy it anymore and was only getting angry, being toxic, rage quitting, etc... and that's how I stopped playing lol I got so angry. I un installed the game for the first time and swore that I would never played again,so it's a fun game if you don't play it that much and toxic players don't bother you too much. I recently was thinking about installing again though I'm afraid I'm just gonna ruin it more for me.
Man, I could pretty much just take this video's script, swap out every mention of Dead by Daylight for Hunt Showdown and still be about 80% correct about the latter. Fantastic multiplayer game I've played a ton of despite being a bit disillusioned with multiplayer stuff, simple gameplay and goals complimented by the ever-present dread of being jumped by other players, but the devs just keep making changes that seem to be entirely to encourage buying premium currency or new DLCs while ignoring some very glaring and long-lasting issues. If its core gameplay loop weren't so god damn amazing I would have a very very hard time recommending it to anyone.
I don't get it how a game like this has a following and appreciation so big. dbd is an unpolished game, full of unbalanced killers amd perks, a community that is the bane of humanity, a terrible matchmaking system that takes minute to a find a single match, and yet people waste hours and hours on this game, why??? I always heard tons of criticism on games that are broken like this but everyone still close more than one eye on dbd, this doesn't make any sense
1. People have no standards 2. Addiction 3. People partying up with friends DbD is an awful game no one should play. It is a game with a once interesting premise, lackluster execution and horrible "live service" support since. Anyone telling you that the game is even good is either very new to the game, is only playing in short bursts with and/or with friends or is genuinely addicted to it and cannot see the broad side of a barn. I started in very early 2018, before BHVR bought the rights back and started self-publishing again. The game was "alright" for maybe a few weeks during summer of 2018, that's it. Even then the game was still unbalanced, but at least it wasn't the mess it is now and was before.
Dead by Daylight isn't perfect by any means but it is the only multiplayer game I consistently play these days. And the only content that can only be bought with real money is licensed, because licensing agreements have to be honored. Other than that, I think that DBD is probably the healthiest modern game monetization wise.
Licensed stuff I understand, but there’s plenty of original content such as skins that is also locked behind real money. It all feels so arbitrarily random.
God bless heal and save you. having bought the game when it came out and seeing all the changes its made is so sad. it used to be really great and fun and now its just.....why
I would have no qualms with Sam fisher being a solo survivor inclusion or at least a legend skin PLEASE UBI GIVE US NEW CONTENT FOR TOM CLANCY GAMES BESIDES R6 (I haven’t made up my mind about xdefiant yet, seems kinda dumb but If I can create a clan based on the cleaners from division 1 and goof around it’ll be better then nothing but still want new Division, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon content)

The rest of my friends got it a little later and it has become one of our main games to play on the weekend.
glad you reviewed it i use to play dbd all the time i even got the platinum trophy for it
I’m glad you enjoy the game it’s really fun and awesome to get your mind off things I’m sorry about the situation your in and hope it gets better over time.
Never thought I would see you cover DBD, im so happy. I've been obsessed with DBD for 4 years and im so glad you made this!
For non licensed characters you can buy them with the iridescent Shards
Uploader: I have 200 hours
Average DBD fan: you need 20000 hours and a degree to understand the science behind running in circles and loop! Skill checks are hard! Every killer is weak when I play and every killer is OP when I die!
Ayy you did a video on it - it’s a good time watching you stream this when you do
Having to pay for the game, dlc and currency is complete bullshit. they should make unlocking killers or survivors easier like rainbow six siege and make cosmetics say in loot boxes like overwatch
You only pay for the game and dlc. Currency is earned unless its a licensed killer and some cosmetics. Thats your fault for coughing up cash for a game you bought already cause you liked Leon or something. Fuck loot box's lol
Overmonetization much?
I’m not trying to be mean here Craig, but your house looked so cool being flooded
I have no shame in saying I hate this game cuz I'm bad at it. We all get one
I was only here to see the guy who said he was gonna commit to commenting “Every Metal Gear Game” on your vids.
It caught my attenttion when it crossed over with silent hill but then i checked out the gameplay n was like nah thanks
I started out as a survivor main but I understand killers cuz sometimes you have to camp if everyone is god tier in chase
This video actually brought me to get back into the game and buy some of the dlc
For some reason this video didn't show up in my notification feed. I'm only lucky that I was looking for your channel right after it came out.
You finding matches damn now it’s impossible on ps4 to find matches with the dwindling fan base
Die but then again lol
1:30 Well.. at least you put out towels 🥲
This game would make for a cool short film idea.
This game is a rough game. If you play long enough this game gets so repetitive if your at the high ranks. Sadly a lot of people left this game because the developers didn’t do much to fix the complaints the community had(MMR being the big one). Hopefully the devs really listen and make a good community.
Crazy to think there are 200 perks but only like 10 are good
Great video!
I've had this game in my library for a long time but been to afraid to play because of the community i just dont have the energy for it.
i remember playing this with the boys before my pc broke
Have always wanted to play but seems a bit overwhelming as everyone is prolly an expert by now and I don’t have a group to play with
I don't know man, I am totally against micro transactions, The game is great, but paying for some skins were never great to me.
To scoff that 200 hours is not a lot of time compared to 1000 hours is questionable. I mean God forbid having a life outside of video games
Can’t tell if edited or you have your brightness up
Did bro really not talk about how you can get perks and characters with iridescent shards?
Do you know that Remedy announced remakes of Max Payne 1, and 2?
I don't know what it is but this guys voice always makes everything sound super interesting even if it's something I'm unfamiliar with.
I loved this game for such a long time, but i got super bored after about a year.
i played when it first came out and had a blast. but coming back to it and everyone has rank 3 of skills i don't stand a chance. I wish there was a mode for turning those off so it's more balanced for new and returning players
Still waiting on that Thief review
Welcome back buddy
One little vr game called thief simulator is something that you should try out.
Can you make review on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series?
I think you can unlock the unlicensed characters overtime.
a good review that both showed the good and the not so good aspects of dbd thank you sir and glad you are also weirded out by the dating sim
Evil dead isnt a DbD clone but it's unfortunately a epic store exclusive which made it DOA on PC.
you may have convinced me to try this game again, thanks
I got Dead By Daylight on sale and after a few days on playing, I couldn't enjoy it. I think the killers are a bit too fast, especially when they Attack. They can easily catch up to survivors. And once I get spotted, I definitely know I'm gonna get taken down when I try to get away.
Maybe I'm just a noob and others can get away from the killers with no problems.
It all comes down to experience, since with time You Will learn the things that You can get to and to stealth better.
@critical nobody can you do a review on the evil dead game that just came out I here its like dead by daylight
I have ovr a hundred hours as well, and I love the fuck out of this game, so I'm just happily watching, out of gratittude that one of my fav titles is getting the attention it deserves.
L pfp
Overall I think DbD is a game with an insane amount of potential that's kinda wasted in the hands of BHVR. I feel like if a better dev team picked it up or if BHVR got its shit together, then it would probably be one of the best games in history.
Yes, exactly this.
Asymeterical multiplayer games always have toxic player bases. It comes with the territory.
You should look but VHS the game! It’s my favorite competitor to dbd and seems to have the most potential despite not being out yet
it feels like your telling what happened to me. exact same circumstances lmao.
That ending lol
Sorry about the house
I also havent played compet multip in years but only coop mp seems good to me now
Very nice / good review of DBD.
No booping reeeeee 'random angi sounds'
1. People have no standards
2. Addiction
3. People partying up with friends
DbD is an awful game no one should play.
Because this game is unique, and had it's own distinct feels that it's clone can't replicate
Is it just me or those this guy look like the person from the jontronshow
Sorry your house got flooded but here's hoping it gets drained and repaired soon
I would have no qualms with Sam fisher being a solo survivor inclusion or at least a legend skin
PLEASE UBI GIVE US NEW CONTENT FOR TOM CLANCY GAMES BESIDES R6 (I haven’t made up my mind about xdefiant yet, seems kinda dumb but If I can create a clan based on the cleaners from division 1 and goof around it’ll be better then nothing but still want new Division, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon content)
