    Update: As of 8/10/2023, four years after the original upload, a section of this video (2:56-3:28) has been muted due to a copyright claim. It absolutely ruins the intended joke and makes the overall video worse, but it's the only way to prevent multiple companies from stealing revenue that absolutely does not belong to them.

      Ever since I saw you'r Splinter Cell video I hoped you would do one for Hitman and it was worth the wait. And to answer you'r question about Tenchu, I didn't play every game in the series and it was a long time ago but from what I remember the first two are kind of like Codename 47, Good ideas but haven't aged all that well. Wrath of Heaven (the third one) is really good and it improved everything from the first two games, It's one of if not the best ninja games out there. The 4th one is more of the same from what I remember and I didn't play the rest of the series but I hear a lot of good thing about the last one(shadow assassins), could make for an interesting video.

      Firstly, throwing a coin while they're looking at you is pointless, it just makes them a little suspicious about you and it wastes a lot of time
      Throw when they're turned around or something, and they instantly go check what's wrong

    If I remember correctly, IOi stated that the original idea behind Blood Money’s newspaper was that if you killed the target with an accident and only killed the target, their death would be a minor side section in the papers. If you only killed the target but there were witnesses, they’d get a much larger section, and if you killed too many non-targets, your exploit would get front page. This seems like a neat system, especially for those who like to role play as 47.

    I’ve always thought how 47 isn’t being recognized by federal agencies around the globe. He may commit murders while being hidden and using different disguises. But he always enters a location with the same suit. So he is always being seen as agent 47. At this point, there HAS to be a pattern established because a bald dude wearing a suit and a red tie is always present in places where someone has a weird accident, or mysteriously drowned, chocked, shot in the head.

      I don't remember which game it was, but Agent 47 is called a conspiracy theory akin to the men in black that always appear in UFO conspiracy theories irl. That's the real reason why Agent 47 can fit in, he dresses like he works for any 3 letter agency.
      Think about the whistleblowers who have all mysteriously offed themselves recently irl, imagine how people would react if you tried to mention that a bald man in a black suit was seen in the area every time, you'd be called a conspiracy theorist immediately.

    Hitman: Contracts came out when I was 13 years old and it was my first introduction to the Hitman series on a Playstation demo disc. Hitman: Blood Money was then released and I bought it day one on release, at this point I was a very heavy pot head but the immersion I got from that game was absolutely incredible. From playing Hitman I moved to Kane and Lynch and holy shit.. I loved the story move even though so many people hated it but the online multiplayer... I loved the concept of what they made from it so much. The difficulty of working together and then that split moment of the anxiety of working against either other was so unique..

    The suspicion meter in Hitman 2 (the original) seems random because it differs per map. It's based upon a reasonable expectation of how likely it would be for someone to recognise that you're in disguise. For example, on the first map, the mafia all know each other, so they very quickly recognise you aren't one of them.
    It is a bit of a frustrating mechanic sometimes, but it is not random.

    • @MusssabM
      @MusssabM Год назад +36

      The randomness aspect of it is how sometimes guards can blow your cover and sometimes not. Which the video clearly shows and that's what I remember from the level. It's the same for the first map. Not to hate on the game but, random it definitely was.

    • @spyegle
      @spyegle Год назад +9

      I think the big issue with the randomness is how Critical played it. I've read everywhere that playing the game at more than 60 fps (or just 60?) breaks the IA completely. I've just finished it yesterday for the first time on ps2 and the IA was mostly consistant, at least WAY more than on that video. Well... dare I say it's my favorite disguise IA in the entire series !

Also I generally love the idea of trying to evade and chip away at the individual “foot soldiers” if you will, of the group that turned on you and wants you dead. You aren’t killing some big shot gang leader or oil baron, they’re assassins just like you, yet inferior, and instead of running away you have to face them head on in a display of all of 47’s skills. I love the premise of this mission and it’s executed fantastically, also a really fun mission for showdowns in freelancer.

      My favourite mission is actually similar to the one you are referring to, but it's " St Petersburg revisited" where we need to kill a fellow assassin as in Amendment XXV.
      What I like about St Petersburg more is how the agency betrays you and tricks you with fake sniper ammo (amazing plot twist) and agent 17 actually would just shoot you like a real assassin out of nowhere if you make noise rather than running away like Parchezzi. It feels more thrilling than Amendment XXV.

    When you said Contracts was your favorite in the series, I patted my chest with respect. It's the most underrated of the original 4 and was kinda like the Goldilocks of those 4. The first two seemed very strict and straightforward while Blood Money seemed very garish and "too open and free", yet flat when it came to the gameplay. Contracts was a PERFECT medium when it came to the stealthy gameplay, and the visuals and atmosphere were top notch for 2004. Sure it looks not as good as other titles for its time but the overall feel and look compared to the others made it shine, and yet I rarely hear people talk about it. And the music was an amazing piece to accompany the overall aesthetic. I respect you bro

    • @PeanutButterAndJellyBros
      @PeanutButterAndJellyBros 3 года назад +17

      it pretty much is the most underrated I agree. I think the disguise system is at its best in Contracts. It punishes you when deserved and it gives you room to breathe all at the same time. All of the missions were fun including the remade missions. The gameplay was very good still for a hitman game. A part of me is glad that they remade the hong kong missions to prove that the hong kong missions can be played by adopting the stealth technique to complete them. The Colombia missions however would have been very interesting had they been remade because I believe the developer would have remade those Colombia missions to be played in stealth mode in order to avoid the disastrous shooting that the 1st game did.

One of my favorite moments was helping the SWAT storm the Rotterdam ship in disguise. Blood Money and Absolution lacked the exotic feeling of Contracts and SA. I'm glad we get to jet around the world again in the new trilogy, but do wish they had included native languages of the locals. Then sniper crow dude: there’s apartment buildings that are secluded for you to snipe him. If you picked up the walky talkie, check the map, see where he is. Go to the apartment you need to go to snipe him. Knock out anyone in apartment if needed. Shoot him in the face.
      Then leave)

    I am from Bangladesh. It is 4 am. I have just watched a one hour long hitman commentary. You did such a nice job brother. I am hitman fan since childhood and you did a great justice to the character.

    Hitman Absolution was the first Hitman game I ever played. I remember having a blast the entire playthrough(and every playthrough after that). of course, I also remember having the most Fun on the more Sandboxy levels where your only main objective is to eliminate a target(s) and leave the scene.
    setting up the perfect Accidental kill, lining up a sniper shot, or just going guns blazing. always had fun.
    while the game certainly isnt perfect, I always have fun doing my Shenanigans and causing general *Chaos* (and being properly sneaky occasionally) regardless of if it's a sandbox level or linear level.
    it introduced and hooked me onto the series lol

    I'm playing Hitman (2016) and it's my first Hitman experience. Absolutely in love with it. I was curious about the rest of the series and this video is just what I needed, thank you :) can't wait to review it

    I have never played Hitman but your review of the games has helped me decide to try a couple. I used to like Splinter Cell and this seems to take all that a bit further. Thanks.

    Awesome video! I appreciate all the hard work you've put into this.
    My first Hitman game was Contracts and since it was the first experience of its kind, I absolutely loved it. I've been following the series ever since. And I do agree that it has the best atmosphere (and soundrack). That mission in a night club with blood splattered all over the place, hanging meat hooks, dancing ladies in latex, the butcher room and Jabba the Hutt boss, oh man...
    Though, Hitman (2016) introduced the best balance of everything we love about the series and improved it in every way possible. It just turned out to be so GOOD. I really am glad that iOi decided to go back to the game's roots and delivered super smooth and polished Hitman experience.

    Relative new-comer to the Hitman series. After watching a lot of different Hitman review-videos, to decide which ones I should get, I found your in-depth, detailed review to be the best (also appreciated the timestamps). Excellent video! Liked & Suscribed.

    Excellent video! I am an absolute hardcore Hitman fan so I loved and related to everything in the video! The one and only disagreement I have is with Blood Money, which is my personal favorite game in the series. I do think you kind of under appreciated its impact on the series. The open ended sandbox like assassination simulator was first fully realized in this game. Past entries (specifically Contracts) definitely had this feel, but Blood Money polished and refined the feel of having open ended levels with multiple targets and a massive variety of creative kills to choose from. The sandbox like nature of Blood Money is where the appeal of the series came from for many people, and was the key inspiration for how the newer games are now. Without Blood Money, The new games wouldn’t be as excellent as they are! Yes the game is derivative of the original 3, but it also perfects and improves upon many of the aspects that made Hitman great and unique to begin with! I also agree it’s notoriety system isn’t fully realized, but it can still be an obstacle for those who play poorly. For me personally, I’ve never replayed any Hitman game more than Blood Money before the newer ones! It was so fun to not only explore the levels and figure out something new, but it is BEYOND fun to figure out Easter eggs, exploits, glitches etc. so overall, despite how I felt you kinda shrugged off Blood Money a bit too much, I agree with all your other points and you made an excellent video! I’m considering creating a RUclips channel for Stealth gaming and Hitman will be the first games I do since it is my favorite game series ever! I’ll also be doing Splinter Cell and Thief amongst other games. By the way, I’d love to see a Thief retrospective!

      If you are interested I'm making videos on Hitman too for two years now .I created a series called "Ways To Kill" where I show multiple ways to kill each target of hitman and it's really fun to do .Do you usually watch videos on hitman btw ? or maybe even speedruns ?

    This is the best and longest video that I've ever watched. I usually watch videos that are between 5 to 10 minutes. But since I'm a huge Hitman fan I watched the entire video and it didn't disappoint me. Keep up the good work. Thanks :)
