Spider: Yeah why? Frog: Nothin peace bro
Is it just me, or is that spider not helping the frog to be friendly, but rather because it doesn't want a struggling vat of deadly toxins hanging around its home? Just sayin'
Actually, the spider wanted the web to be freed so that it can use it to catch another useful prey. It was not just about toxins hanging around but efficiency in managing the silk web and space constraints
Justin Ferrell Im not an expert but i think spiders only have a finite amount of venom stored which takes time and energy to replenish and considering the size of the prey it would probably taken a large amount of venom to kill which is why it may be careful about what it uses its venom on. Once it found out it could not eat the frog, it chucked the frog so it could repair its web and make room for things it can actually eat. Just my opinion though
Good call by the spider. If the frog just hanged there, not only would it give away the stealthness of the web, it might attract unnecessary attention from unwanted animals, such as the birds or snakes. Unlike venom, poison on the frog skin takes a while to degenerate, so keeping it there would work against the spider. Furthermore, the spider needed to repair the web to catch the other preys.

Weeeell I've seen spiders do this to non-edible material thrown at it's web too. It's not really a behavior along the lines of "mercy and letting-it-live". I think the behavior is more of "cleaning my web" for the next catch. But that's just my personal observation.
You've seen spiders. I doubt you've seen a full blown araneomorph Nephila in it's habitat having to deal with a poisonous frog! That spider is one hell of a smart arachnid and the sole reason it let the frog go is because it was poisonous. Not to clean it's web.

@@deathserpent9747 I wish you'd know more about the difference between the two. Had you delved more into this subject you'd have found out there is LITTLE difference between VENOM and POISON. I want to say it's not so much about it sparing a life out of goodwill than it is to dislodge something useless and unneeded to the spider from its web. It'd probably didn't need the unnecessary loss of space or struggling obstacle in its web. Can't imagine the spider releasing it based on having "sympathy" rather than necessity to keep the web functioning optimally. That's just my take on the spider.

i used to flick my cigarette ash on a spiders web at my work, the spider would always pounce on it and once it realized it wasn't prey it would remove it every time and drop it on the floor. Although its nice to believe the spider had compassion for the frog, i believe it was really just clearing its web so it wasn't getting any false signals.
Mark M of course it wasnt compassion...

Alex Zheng STFU LMFAOOO
Is it just me, or is that spider not helping the frog to be friendly, but rather because it doesn't want a struggling vat of deadly toxins hanging around its home? Just sayin'
Yep. I do love spiders tho... If you couldn't tell.
no you are right that is exactly what happened
Actually, the spider wanted the web to be freed so that it can use it to catch another useful prey. It was not just about toxins hanging around but efficiency in managing the silk web and space constraints
Justin Ferrell Im not an expert but i think spiders only have a finite amount of venom stored which takes time and energy to replenish and considering the size of the prey it would probably taken a large amount of venom to kill which is why it may be careful about what it uses its venom on. Once it found out it could not eat the frog, it chucked the frog so it could repair its web and make room for things it can actually eat. Just my opinion though
Totally right, videos commentary is crap. Nature doesnt waste, so if a predators kill something and doesnt eat it, nature will taken it anyways.

L E S S O N : “ *If the prey isn’t useful set it free* “ - Nature
imagine being a frog and some giant spider crawls up to you and instead of eating you it lets you go.
Prey is the plural of prey!
Spider: exists
Frog: Why do i hear boss music?
I'm tearing up. This is beautiful.
Wow.
So simple and straight forward.
That's nature. We humans have just complexed everything, here
I mean we can do very complicated equations, and we treat animals like just a mind but with a little bit of intellegence
The frog is experiencing a typical day in Australia, except it doesn’t end with the spider setting you free 😔
people say the spider is nice after it tried to eat the frog first :)
Yeah put it let it go instead of letting the frog starve to death
The spider would have starved too. It needs its web and it cannot kill the frog anyway so it has to let it go.
And here we have another example of a sentient being of lower intelligence than insects.
ZombieToad it released the frog, if it wanted it could’ve killed it or left it hanging to starve.
0:28 - 0:36 “.... exactly in the path of this little frog”. Crew member later throws frog in the web. 🤣🕷 🕸 🐸
ooooohhh this is just amazing... such display of raw intelligence from nature!!!
Spider doesn't care much about the prey. He cares more about a heavy toxic thing wriggling on his web, ruining it and giving away the disguise
It is cool how he lets it live though. He could kill it and then let it go of course

Weeeell I've seen spiders do this to non-edible material thrown at it's web too. It's not really a behavior along the lines of "mercy and letting-it-live". I think the behavior is more of "cleaning my web" for the next catch. But that's just my personal observation.
shogrran No fucking shit.

Yes on the surface venom can only kill if it is injected and poison can only kill if it's ingested. But poison can also kill without being ingested and venom can kill without being injected as well. Both Poison and Venom are TOXINS. The only difference between poisonous or venomous is in the way the TOXIN PAYLOAD is delivered! That's all.
@@RobertFierce oh ? Then i guess you can use antivenom to cure poison. I know theyre both toxins so thanks for stating the obvious but how similar they are doesnt matter because they are still different.
