Would love to bring my kids to show them how the fine people of Ripon Wisconsin ended slavery of their ancestors but I don't want to get a speeding ticket so I won't be going there.

Slavery was not ended, it was no longer a private practice. And slavery in the south was abolished in the south not the north. Lincoln himself stayed that if he could save the union without ending slavery he would and he also stated that the Superior positions in society should always be assigned to the white man.
