- This reaction video is to a live performance in 2016, featuring arrangements of I See the Light from Tangled, You'll Be In My Heart from Tarzan and Go the Distance from Hercules. Solos are performed by Kirstin Maldonado (from Pentatonix) and Jeremy Michael Lewis.
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff as she is barely able to contain her excitement at the prospect of getting to hear Disney music and one of the current best A Cappella groups in the world, Voctave.

I am back here 3 yrs. later, and I have to mention that I think you missed the final note change that Kate made at the end. I say this because you made such a big deal about the penultimate high note and mentioned nothing of last note, which was easy to do if you had 'given up' on there being another higher more fantastic note. You don't hear the onset of that note unless you are leaning in to hear it. What you do hear is the echo, or ghost of the note at the very end when the main voices drop out so to speak. So, listen to it again, and pay special attention to the very end and see if you hear that last high, high note. It is a dissonant chord it starts out being but resolves into a major chord right at the end.
The high Soprano is Kate Lott and she’s amazing.
Every time, on every song.
Yeaahhh kate lott the woman in black clothes.
I think one of the most amazing pieces that displays Kate's talents was when they sang "Mary Did You Know" featuring Mark Lowery. Her voice control there is unparalleled.
@@jfulton-ak John, I completely agree. I don't know if I've ever heard a better example of voice control, especially in a soprano. I was going to suggest the same song. Thanks for beating me to the punch!
Especially since she is able to produce those high notes not only as clear as a crystal bell, but also very quietly, in other songs even more quiet than in this one. And THAT is really impressive considering how extreme those notes are and how frequencies work (basically the higher, the louder)
And, yes, Jamey Ray is an absolute gift to A Cappella music - all his arrangements are gold. Please react to more Voctave!
2 Fun facts:, Kate (the soprano) leads up to the C# the first note, Voctave follows on the second note.. but then Kate jumps again to the high F# on the third note before they resolve! (Bonus fact, even in this video, you can see Jeremy laughing and shaking his head in disbelief every time Kate shines)
Also, Jeremy had to have the breath for longer than the 14 second long phrase at the end, because he didn't breathe when Kirsten got to before the last note! He held for 22 seconds to fill the two breath gaps. Incredible.
Yeah, the first time I heard it, I freaked out that Kirstie held her last note for 5+ bars, but then I realized that he took his last breath even earlier. Amazing!
I should have read the comments! Lol. That's what I just commented. 🤦🏻♀️😳😏
@@manuelodonnell1148 You can actually he hear him continuing to sing right before the last note
You are talking about the woman on the left in the black shirt, correct?
At least it seems that she is the one with the very high notes
I was just about to post this. She is so good. And talking about cute, how about Elizabeth! She is just the best!
The gentleman conducting in the back of the group is Tony DeRosa, who has been in four world championship barbershop quartets (the most recent being Main Street). How about a barbershop quartet reaction ;) ?
I must have watched the Dapper Dans perform in Disneyland hundreds of times... One of the reasons I had an annual pass was just to go watch the live shows. Completely worth the price!
I just love how you so openly express your joy and enjoyment of great music. Not a stoic analysis of technique but rather letting your soul just feast on the raw emotion that great music produces in us. I am glad I found your channel. Please react to more of Voctave.
Your reaction is honest and spot on ..Jamey has incredible 9+ voice note chord arrangements . These people are musicians ,It is testimony to their craft and stands as a superior example for any singer who wishes to excel. thank you !!
If you like this, watch them perform Disney Princess Medley. It's outstanding!
OH YES PLEASE :DDDD
Yes please!
I love how the arranger used "Like a shooting star" line to put the Kate`s octave jump, great way to give a feeling of that beautiful shooting star passing over everyone heads through music!
I really love Kirstin's lower range, even more than her upper range. Her voice would genuinely be perfect for a Disney princess, for more proof just watch Superfruit's Frozen Medley (Superfruit is Mitch and Scott from PTX, and Kirstin joined them since they're friends since high school).
Agree, Kirstin is also amazing in Rather Be. You really get to hear her full range.
@@jennfox7529 Absolutely. Rather Be might be my favorite Kirstin song. She should do more alto.
It sounded like you missed the fact that Kate Lott, at the very end, actually went a fourth up from that high note you were admiring so much. Listen again: she's the sparkle at the very tippy-tip-top of those last two chords. She makes the jump milliseconds before the director cuts away from her.
While on de subject of A Cappella: Please do a video on "OOGIE BOOGIE'S SONG | The Nightmare Before Christmas | VoicePlay A Cappella Cover". Their base singer is amazing!
This is going to happen --- in October! :-D
I just suggested the same, then realized this comment. Looking forward to October!
Their Haunted Mansion take is also excellent. Used to be a lead there (World, not Land) at one time. Were it up to me, I would change the current HM track out for Voiceplay's, the audio anyway.
His name is Jeff Castelluci
Soprano lady is Kate. Their Disney Princess Medley truely shows how wonderfull her voice is.
If you like Jamey Ray's arrangements but you haven't gone down the Voctave rabbit hole yet, you are really missing out. Voctave is the group that he helped form. He writes the arrangements specifically to take advantage of each of their unique voices. The group is filled with outstanding talents which get highlighted in different songs. You really should go to their youtube page and react to more of their videos. They also have more Disney songs that you will love.
Yes please Disney’s princesses medley!
You are delightful! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts about this song!!!
Love your description of vocal and sound through each range and track! Best I've heard described.
Mary did you know- voctave ft mark Lowry, i promise you won't regret it.
Yes please!
Recommended highly
Yes Kate does a note in that song that is ultra high, ultra soft, head voice and lasts forever. She's the best. :)
Would love to hear your reaction to Mary Did You Know with Mark Lowry!
I can’t wait to see your reaction to this! I’ve listened to it almost as much as Dimash. When you get done with this I would suggest you immediately listen to Voctave perform their Disney Princess Medley. It’s astounding! Final note: the short little soprano is going to blow you away!
It is during or very close to the shooting of this video that Jeremy actually came up with Voctave’s name and Jaime agreed. This is where Voctave truly got their start!
There are clips here and there of Kirstin and Jeremy just collapsing laughing mid practice, because of just how good the lovley ladies and gents from Voctave actually are. Purely wholesome moments
Voctave has done several Disney songs and medleys. They’re one of the few groups who have license to because several of their members actually sing in performance groups at Epcot/Disney World. All of them are amazing, you’ll adore them, and I know lots of us would love seeing your reaction to them. For starters: Disney Princess Medley, Disney Showstoppers, How Far I’ll Go. Outside of their Disney material, I’d love to see you react to This Is My Wish/Let There Be Peace On Earth ❤️👍🏻
I just love your personality. You are a true musician. Love it.
Your face when you recognized "Go The Distance" was adorable! Anytime I listen to this, "You'll Be In My Heart" makes me cry every time. We don't hear the less known Disney songs enough.
My dream will come true!!! You will FINALLY react to Voctave!!! Hopefully just the first of many! ❤❤
If you enjoy acapella you should react to Home Free - Man of Constant Sorrow
Can I second this homefree are awesome
I think their version of How Great Thou Art is the best showcase of their talents
@@Strayfegaming its a many amazing songs from Home Free. We all need morde Home Free in our Life :)
Did you see she did? Some of her facial expressions during parts are priceless. Watch when the 'harmonica' comes in, for one.
I like her aura🥰 i like how she reacts.
Plenty more Voctave to check out! Showstoppers Medley, Movie Medley, or Princess Medley, can't go wrong with any.
Great reaction, as always.
Wait until you watch their "Disney Princess Medley". Chills.
And Kate Lott.. Is a star.
Cheers^^.
Please react to "O come all ye faithful" by voctave
Their version of O Come All Ye Faithful is one of the most emotive singing performances I've ever heard. There is so much reverence in the delivery of this song. Tears every time.
You look constantly surprised lol i love it. and that amazing woman is Kate Lott! i dont know anything about a capella but i had to look her up after hearing her in several songs
My favorite moment is when at 7:42 Jeremy looks over at the soprano like he cannot believe it lol
I’ve only just discovered you recently due to the Jinjer “Pisces” video. Ended up watching your reactions to Nightwish and Floor too. There are 2 main reasons I’ve enjoyed your vids. 1. Unlike other reaction videos done by vocal coaches/singers. It feels like they try and do whatever is happening in the video, as a sort of “look at me, I can do it too!” type vibe. Which just annoys me. Whereas you listen to what’s going on, and just explain it and why it’s great. Even though you are an incredible singer and could sing what these people are doing, but you don’t 👍🏻 2. I can tell by watching you, that you just love music and the visible excitement you show in these videos is infectious and endearing.
What a great post. And all of it so accurate..
Thanks for this!!!! Much appreciated. :-D
I’m so stoked for this
:-D
Try out Voctave singing "Mary Did You Know" with Mark Lowry. Amazing.
He is beyond magic...
Voctave are so dang amazing! If you do any more of them, I'd love for you to listen to their "The Great Movie Medley"! I know that one blew my socks off especially because it really showcases the power of acappella
Kate Lott is the high soprano for the group. She's is something absolutely special. Check Voctave with Mark Lowery doing "Mary did you know". She shines once again throughout, especially the end.
I love this one. Those harmonies are heavenly. And the soloists have a great connection, I think they were in a relationship back then. There's a video from the rehearsals and they both lose it when they hear one of the sopranos.
That soprano! She blew me away too. :-)
This should be said video: ruclips.net/video/rjZpz0EvnV8/видео.html
@@wolfymyname9989 I had never seen that before! Thank you for sharing that!
I love how they panned over to Kate before she sang that note... she really is amazing.
Indeed. Kirstin Maldonado and Jeremy Michael Lewis are first rate but the looks on their faces when they find themselves performing with the absolute masters of the Al Capella craft are priceless. Wonderful learning experience for the two of them.
Can i please react voctave disney princess medely please?
The amazing soprano is named Kate Lott. I recommend reacting to more Voctave, they are awesome.
Voctave are vocal excellence, without exception and Kate Lott, the Descant Soprano, is a phenomenon. Both Jeremy and Kirsten are excellent vocalists in their own right, but you can see in both this video and the rehearsal one that they are awestruck by the capabilities of Voctave, both with regards to Jamie's arrangement and the individual and group vocal talent on display, especially when Kate Lott casually hits that F#6 with such ease.
Love this! Please: Voctave "Princess Medley."
More Voctave please - their Princess Medley would be a good one to follow this.
Your reaction is so freaking adorable lol
Everybody knows Kate Lott she is legendary!
Very cute outfit 😊😊
Do the Princess medley Please. Love Voctave!
So.... Voctave does more disney.... Disney princess medley, Disney showstoppers... The rabbit hole is DEEP with Voctave... PLEASE fall down that hole and keep going! Don't make us wait. The way that you really LISTEN to the music us what draws us in!!
Voctave are so good, Oh come, All Ye Faithfull is quite possibly the best i've heard it
I loved your explaination of the "t" and "d" sounds as well as the oohs and aahs! As a linguistics nerd and a bit of a vocal nerd I found it really informative and interesting!
As many people in the comments probably pointed out, the high soprano's name is Kate Lott.and she is indeed phenomenal!
Following this video, a few obligatory suggestions:
- Voctave's "Great Movie Medley". Features some more of Kate's high notes, it was a tribute to Jon Williams when he died and it's incredible. Also, it shows some of what the bass section can do, which I am a fan of.
- Voctave's "Disney Princess Medley". I especially love Chrystal's (the counteralto) part, but generally - it features of all Voctave's female members singing a solo and absolutly killing it.
- "I Have a Dream" by Main Street, a barbershop quartet featuring Voctave's Tony DeRosa. They are awesome, and this is a song based on the song from Tangled. It's great.
- "Razzle Dazzle" by Main Street. Another one from the same competition (the 2018 International Barbeshop competition, which they won).
- "Notre Dame Medley" by The Ringmasters. A Swedish barbershop quartet who are all incredible. Nothing not to like.
Everything on here is accurate, except that John Williams isn't dead... He's 88 and still working, as far as I know...
Soprano. KATE LOTT. To my ear she is the best I’ve ever heard in terms of blending without overpowering.
DEMYSTIFYING SINGING (my intensive 7-week course) is now open for registration! Class sizes are small to guarantee personal attention. Go to thecharismaticvoice.com to reserve your seat.
Please react to voctave movie medley thanx.
They were engaged I think in this but split. His pattern of behavior suggests that he does this with semi famous women to further his own name rather than try and get noticed himself. A clout chaser.

Disturbed has a great "sound of Silence" Interpretation too. I love the song and the Pentatonix as well as the Disturbed Version.

@@TinyArtax and Henk Poort has a great cover of that one...
Where you say that woman is pure gold she is called Kate Lott
This video is the one that launched the popularity of Voctave. They were smart to recruit Kirstin because she brought millions of views and greatly contributed to their launch. They even did a couple of "promo" videos they released to build up interest. If you watch it again, notice the big grins and shaking heads from Kirstin and Jeremy reacting to Kate Lott's high notes.
I am just completely knocked out by that smile. This is the ‘I can’t wait’ and ‘I’m not going to get my emotions strung out’ smile. Belle(PhD) you could be in a Disney movie...the happiest channel on RUclips! 🌈👸🏼 gotta put the sunglasses on because the radiance is blinding me😊 #1Fanboy 💙

There's some great material in here for holiday moments. I didn't realize until now how excited I am to get to October!
Affirmative on all of these songs ladyEmily
You have to react to Voctave's Disney Princess Medley next!
Your love of music is so infectious and joyful! Thank you for sharing it, while teaching a deeper appreciation for others so they can learn new things to love in music and singers.
Love this song.Plesa, please react to Voctave performing Disney Princess Medley. It has 5 female soloists. I want to hear your comments on their tone, range, interpretation, etc... You will love it. I write this in supreme confidence!
You already had a few recommendations for some VoicePlay covers but let me recommend something a little more special: The bass of VoicePlay, Geoff Castellucci, just recently uploaded his own cover of „The Bare Necessities“ from the Jungle Book. You can find that video on his RUclips Channel: Geoff Castellucci. Just wanted to recommend that because you obviously love disney and acappella music : )

Check out the rehearsal video for this recording. Kirstin and Jeremy's reaction to Kate's high notes are so cute. I am OBSESSED with Voctave and Jamey Ray is a musical genius in my opinion.
Without a doubt, you do the best reactions to acapella groups. We are so fortunate to have so many excellent groups available to us on RUclips. Depending on the song, I like PTX, Home Free, Voctave , and Voiceplay equally. Please continue to share your expertise on their respective performances, and introduce any new groups you encounter.
Also please don’t forget about Angelina Jordan.
Kristin Clayton, Soprano
American lyric soprano Kristin Clayton created a sensation when she sang the world premiere of Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally's ...
Please accept my apology at the endless dimension video literally begging you
Is anyone going to see my comment😭
All i can say is - Within Temptation and Metropole Orchestra - Somewhere
YES, Sharon & Anneke!!!
for all the love of the soprano, how bout some love for that bass?
Elizabeth, thank you very much for a wonderful evening, get well soon, take care of yourself, I look forward to your wonderful reactions..
Forgot to say, if you really want to see their amazing vocal arranging, the great movie medley!!!!!!
If you want to hear that Soprano full on, then I recommend more Voctave, e.g. the Disney Princess Medley - every female singer gets her own Disney song. ❤
I swear her lowest range is higher than I'll ever get 😶
Elizabeth I knew you would love voctave as much as we do. Fun fact. In the last section when everyone follows the kate lott the lady in the black shirt. If you listen closely after thr group follows her up she goes up again right at the end i think its a d6. Now you need their Disney princess medley.
Even higher; she starts the last chord on a c#6 and then pops up to an f#6!
Finally one I want to hear. If I hear one more time Dimash demonstrating how high he can sing I will scream. I miss the days when you could exclude keywords from RUclips recommendations.
I think you'll like the rest of this week, Don. ;-)
@@TheCharismaticVoice Thank you so much! In repayment, please enjoy the Staves warming up in a corridor before opening for Florence and the Machine. ruclips.net/video/BhRXBzkpDkI/видео.html
Great reaction. The soprano that nails the top notes is Kate Lott. She's stunning.
high soprano - Kate Lott, I think her name is.
I think you actually missed that Kate (the 1st soprano) goes up 1st, the rest of the group joins her, then she throws another topper on (freaking high f#6!!!). Kate's vocal range is insane and one of the things I love most about it as someone who also sings in a choral group is how she doesn't overwhelm the rest of the group. I've known a few sopranos who can get up there, but very few who can do so without making me want to run away because they are so loud. Beautiful blend by a wonderful group!
You should react to Superfruit Frozen Medley (feat. Kirstie Maldonado). Scott, Mitch and Kirstie are great in it and it's also hilarious!
You *NEED* to react to Voctave's 'Carol of the Bells' ! It is so freaking good and Kate Lott (the first soprano) flexes hard in that xD
Talking about harmonies and Disney... should lead you to Og3ne (pronounced Ogene) "Disney medley (Home isolation version)". It's a trio of sisters that that has a fabulous synergy when they sing together. They're also impressive taken into account they recorded their parts on mobile phone...separately.
Hi Elizabeth! First, I have to let you know that I LOVE your Minnie Mouse Fleece Hoodie...Very Cute (the Sparkle in your Eyes and your Smile just adds to the presentation...I think I found my favorite thumbnail image!!!). It's Great that your outfit complements a, "Disney Love Medley." This performance was Outstanding, the Singers were Amazing and your Reaction alone was filled w/ Joy and Excitement...Just like the, "Happiest Place on Earth." And Thank You, Elizabeth, for all of the Extra, Extra Work that you put in to review and react to all of these performances the past 2 weeks!!! You Are The Best!!!!! :-)
Thanks, Kirby! Your comments always make me feel appreciated. I can't thank you enough for your support.
Dear Minnie Mouse, Thank You for this reaction I've loved it so much :) I always learn something new listening to your comments. Today was the "U"s and focus shift time. Really interesting.
I've been listening Voctave for a couple of years and I really love Jamey's arrangements so complex and tasteful at the same time.
I really like how he use dissonace (often present in Voctave arrangements), the last chord of this song was really something considering also the sequence of the notes.
Some suggestions for the next Voctave reaction video
Disney Princess Medley (the easy one) ruclips.net/video/aBCukAJwKN0/видео.html
Mary, Did You Know - Voctave feat. Mark Lowry (chills and "U"s all the time highly recommended) ruclips.net/video/uaRpeMT1tjQ/видео.html
This Is My Wish/Let There Be Peace On Earth (great solo parts) ruclips.net/video/oXreNYWtjPQ/видео.html
I love how you express an almost childish wonder while listening and reacting to any of the songs you've featured. It just shows a passion for your profession that often gets pushed aside for the sake of professionalism. Never let your inner child go
I had to like this simply because of the Minnie Mouse ears! Love, love love it! :D
Ps also can't wait for the reaction!
Please react to ISYANA SARASVATI - LEXICON - KONSER KEMENANGAN
For those of you who have not seen Elizabeth perform, you must watch her. She is AMAZING! Is Kirstin the singer from Pentatonix? She looks so familiar. EDIT:.. I just went back to Pentatonix doing Hallelujah and it IS Kirstin!
I love this medley so much, probably seen it a hundred times! And this gave me an idea. If you want to combine your love of Disney to Nightwish, there's a solo project by the keyboard player/songwriter-composer Tuomas Holopainen that you might be interested in. He's made a "soundtrack" or music inspired by the comics series by Don Rosa called The Life And Times of Scrooge (McDuck). It's really beautiful, like film music.
I'd recommend "Glasgow 1877", vocals by Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas' wife. She has a beautiful voice. And because you like to comment the compositions and instruments as well, I'd love to know what you think of this side of Tuomas. This is a fan made video in lack of anything official. The album itself is on Spotify and other platforms if you prefer that. There are plenty of good songs but this is my personal favourite. If you don't want to do a reaction you can check it out on your own if it interests you. ruclips.net/video/8ECXa-Q5sZw/видео.html
Voctave’s Disney Princess Medley is phenomenal. They feature each of the women with a different princess solo. Also, you probably knew this, but Jamey Ray is also one of the tenors in the group. Maroon shirt, sharing the music stand with the guy in the purple shirt.
O'G3NE's home isolation songs are a MUST, they also do a Disney medley there, but also a Bohemian Rhapsody cover etc....
I see you playlist)
Definitely need to check out Voctave with Mark Lowry Mary did you Know!! Incredible, and sung remarkably by the author of the song!!
I am patiently and anxiously waiting for your next reaction to Voctave...and I hope it comes soon.

Too cute! Our orchestra teacher always made us play Disney songs and I never liked it.
I love how Voctave isn't over produced and it's all in the arrangement. It's just like butter and ear candy. Soooo good.
I really enjoyed your genuine reaction and insightful analysis. I did find it a tiny bit frustrating that you always happened to talk over Kate’s final note (the super high F#) and thus didn’t hear it or didn’t comment on it
More Voctave please :)
I might be wrong, but didn't she go up another third after that part at the end you pointed out?
You need to react to every single song Voctave does!!!
Finally! Someone breaking it all down. The Sopranos are out of this world. And also, glad someone appreciated Kirsten's crystal clear voice. Thank you for this because I had learned so much and stuffs (a lot of them) you pointed out that I had missed. Bravo to you as well.
OK…this is probably the 50th time I’ve watched this! The combo of Kirsten, Voctave and your excitement…a triple threat as well as a triple treat!
