Always so honored to have you break down my content! This was a special one for many reasons. If you liked this format I have some terrifically fun ones with the insanely talented Brian Hull, but ya Whitney is filthy talented, def check out her other singing work! THANKS FOR SHOWING MY WORK TO YOUR AWESOME COMMUNITY!!! LOVES! ❤️
Peter, thanks for all the awesome work you do, it’s amazing, been one of my fave videos for years, and I hope you do more with Whitney in the future! Just curious, have you heard Geoff Castellucci’s version of “Misty Mountains” and what you thought of it? Hope to see you working with Voiceplay someday! You’re my favorite solo A Cappella singer, and they’re my favorite A Cappella group (though it’s REALLY close with Home Free).
I can't count the number of times I have watched this on both Peter Hollens and Whitney Avalons channels here on RUclips, this is one of my favourite RUclips videos of all time and this reaction with the breakdown of the vocals is so wonderful to watch!
Oh my! I've been hooked on acapella music for many years though Voiceplay, Pentatonix, Home Free and of course you, mr. Peter Hollens. I still don't know how in the world this video could be released in 2017 and I've totally missed it until the technical goddess Elisabeth reacted to it in August 2021. As I said on the original video; this is my favourite Hollens video out there, and I hope to see more of the "filthy talented Whitney Avalon" doing collaborations with you. Thanks for filling my life with music and videos which puts a smile on my face
17:21 That distortion comes from her briefly engaging her ventricular folds. She displays crazy control of her voice in this part of the cover. What a beast 😲
Absolutely :) He's giving me hecking goosebumps everytime I listen to him singing that! Though the whole of his latest album, all the Disney villain covers he did and one of my favourites) the Prince of Egypt covers he did with Caleb Hyles (especially "The Plagues" and "All I ever wanted" and "Playing with the big boys") would be on my list of suggestions as well 🥰
Peter Hollens' fans *_demanded_* a full cover of 'Hellfire' which he did a while later. Its pretty good. Hard to beat the original but his is probably my second favorite version of the song. He had also done a full version of 'Be Prepared' and, if you liked _this one_ you'll LOVE his "Halloween Movie Medley" He covers most of his incredible range in that video. (not all of it, I've heard him sing bass notes...the guys a freak'n high tenor and he can go lower than ME, I'm a low baritone for petes sake. )
A few people in chat were recommending Jonathan Young's incredible villain covers, which are great. But if you were going to do a react to Jonathan Young, I'd want to recommend 'Jonathan Young & Lauren Babic - "You're Gonna Go Far Kid" (Offspring Cover)'. That way you could also react to Lauren Babic and her awesome vocal talent as well!
13:56 When it zooms out from Mother Gothel with the candle, all the other characters are also in the dark with a light source. A brilliant stroke in a series of brilliant strokes.
This is what I love about Peter. You can watch his videos over and over and see new things by paying attention to various other bits. Also, if you watch enough of Peter's videos, it's a who's-who of talent on RUclips. :)
A number of groups have covered Disney villains. This is my absolute favorite one. Peter Hollens is simply fantastic and too few people know about him. And too few people give him credit for his vocal range. As usual, I learned a lot from your analysis. This pairing was great--they had great chemistry and seemed to have fun "playing" with each other. This was not only vocally pleasing to listen to, but also fun to watch.
Check out Peter’s Halloween medley, his covers of “The Hanging Tree” and “The Dawn Will Come” with his singing Patreon patrons, “Lullaby of Woe” and “Vokul Fen Mah” with Malukah, “Greensleeves” with Tim Foust, and the Hobbit Drinking Song Medley with Hank Green, they’re all fantastic!
Wow! That was fun! I agree- these two really brought the songs to life. I was uncertain about the "Brady Bunch" screen set at first. Breaking the walls to join each other was a hoot. Great way to end a day with a smile. Thanks, Elizabeth, you made the day complete. :)
Another great analysis! The way you shine a light on the techniques being used really helps to elevate the listening experience, and it’s really exciting to start to understand and identify those techniques as they are bing used while listening. Thanks Elizabeth!
I don't think any vocal coach has reacted to Paint and his songs After Ever After, they are super fun Acapella Disney songs that take some really fun turns
Whitney is an awesome singer as well as a comic genius! She has that true Broadway charisma and versatility. Recommend her Chicago/Fantastic Beasts mashup to highlight her singing chops! The collab with her and Peter is just magic!
You should listen to more Whitney stuff. You will love her signing. Her songs are amazing and the analysis would be so fun. Her singing is so much fun, beautiful and blows me away. She is so versatile.
I’ve listened to this so many times, yet never gave the background music the attention it deserved. Thank you for expanding my (already high) appreciation of this performance.
Hi Elizabeth, this is my first time watching this video and I loved the performance. Peter and Whitney are two excellent singers, and they were both amazing. I loved that everyone is singing in front of their colorful zoom backgrounds, and then you have Gaston going on a village tour w/ Lefou...Typical. Thank you, Elizabeth!!! 💙
As everyone else has said you have to react to Jonathan Young's Disney covers. Hellfire and Bells of Notre Dame are outstanding. The sense of foreboding they give is spine tingling
Love this medley, love your break down, but most of all, love your passion and excitement. It was really cool to see you reacting to a video that I enjoyed so much and see you enjoying it too and helping me put into words the things I was hearing. Thank you! 💕

I love your channel, the way you react to great songs and amazing vocal performances actually teaches me about music. I am totally tone deaf but the way you go into details makes me feel I can finally understand why I like the music I like! I ran across this version of an old song from Costa Rica, I thought you may like it. ruclips.net/video/-avBmPBJIkg/видео.html
Absolutely wonderful to see you break down the vocals like this and I absolutely adore the voices of Peter Hollens and Whitney Avalon singing together like this!
I would absolutely love to see her react to Jonathan Young's Hellfire cover!! Or even his covers to phantom of the opera with Malinda. Side note: really hoping she does a reaction to Geoff's recent Misty Mountains cover. The low notes are insane and it's the best thing to listen to when you wanna escape to Middle Earth.

Your facial expressions while you listen got me hooked on these videos. I smile along every time and can really feel the enjoyment of interesting vocal work along with you. :D
Many seem to recommend Jonathan Young's cover of '"Hellfire", but I would love to see you react to the original, with Tony Jay. The only version I can listen to over and over again. I can see why he got the role as Frollo. Freaking magic. I feel that he seems to be the only one who really got the character, no mention the song. This medley - all in all - was lovely, though. Well sung and amusing. Mother Knows Best, Poor Unfortunate Souls and Hellfire is absolutely the best villain songs, with the first and the last one being extra powerful because they feel a bit too real.
On its Gaston! 😂 Whitney has a rich voice with nice integration of her low frequencies in her tone. She's one of my favorite female collaborators with Peter. You need to interview Peter Hollens! 🙏
I've seen you be really impressed by how in one of Peter's song he had over three hundred people sing, so I think you might want to check out *The Longest John's "Wellerman community project", there were 6500 people in the video!*
I was so happy to see you react to Peter's work. He is such a talented singer, but perhaps even more talented producer. I love his work. I wrote to Dimash and offered to try to connect them. I thought it might open new dimensions for Dimash's awesome capabilities.
Whitney did a very nice Tribute to Our Favourite Disney Princes - LEIA ( after Disney got LucasFilms she got to be a Disney Princess) based on the Melody of Memories from CATS
Let me say up front I love Voiceplay. I was unfamiliar with Ashley Diane, but she was fantastic here. But I am a huge Fiddler on the Roof Fan and this was a little too "jazzed up" for me. That is not to say the vocals weren't stellar--they absolutely were. Just would have preferred a more traditional arrangement. Would love to see your reaction to it!
No it's not. Never heard "my mother told me or "This is Halloween?" "Mean one mr. Gringe?" They are far way better the "rich girl/man" they have a new one to. "Hoist the colours."
Whitney Avalon has done some amazing stuff. The Good Place Song and a parody of Billie Eilish's Bad Guy are two of my faves. Along with Memory from Cats...but Star Wars style.
Whitney Avalon recently did a medieval cover of "I need a Hero" together with Hildegard von Blingin’ on her channel and its amazing! would love to see you react to that
The Pirates of the Caribbean medley Peter did with the Gardiner Sisters is AMAZING!!! And the Hobbit drinking medley with Hank Green is also fantastic!!
I have watched the original so many times and I always find myself watching Whitney from the beauty and the beast because she is funny to watch while listening to the great music.
Hi Kush Garg, Elizabeth reacted to Peter Hollens & Tim Foust in, "Misty Mountains," : ruclips.net/video/PXOWH4z7ymw/видео.html And Peter feat. Amalee in, "Epic Anime Medley." : ruclips.net/video/lEG_0lNEkFM/видео.html. And here is Elizabeth's other reaction videos: ruclips.net/user/TheCharismaticVoicevideos
You need to check out Whitney Avalon original comedy songs they're hilarious and she is amazing with them. The first one I heard was you're not fooling anyone and once I heard that I just had to listen to everything.
A girl after my own heart, I have always cheered on the billions, and wanted them to win. They put so much thought and effort just to have a lucky hero, stumble onto their plans and ruin a perfectly laid plot.
Jafar is my favorite of this selection by them, and in general I wish people would include that reprise as part of the "Disney Villain" package. It isn't a full song on its own so that's why, but I just love it so much.
I love the video, as I do with every one of yours so far. I’m not an expert on what to look for in a voice but when Peter was singing I heard a little of Puddles’ own voice. Keep up the good work, Elizabeth.
Mother Knows Best is one of my favorite villain songs because it doesn't flat out state the villains plan, its a very manipulative song, and idk it just sounds great
As a Disney fan, you should watch either of Thomas Sanders’ Disney medleys. He’s done a villains medley (friends on the other side) and a princess medley (won’t say I’m in love). All are with his friends and amazing.
Ok, you need to trust me here. I know that's asking a lot since you don't know me, but I promise (I can say this with absolute certainty) you will love this and really want to work through how this young man does what he does.. only one big reactor has watched this and it got over 150k views but at the time her channel was smaller since it was over 2 years ago.. don't do research because it'll give it away. Just embrace his awesome vocal abilities. Nick pitera - a whole new world. Pllllease!!!
As Peter is from Oregon, I believe the "Gaston" video was probably shot at Enchanted Forest near Salem, Oregon. The color scheme is correct for the old European village there. Love all of his videos including this one!
Whitney Avalon does a number of parody songs, my favorite is Dolores Umbridge singing her version of "Poor Unfortunate Souls". Otherwise I would recommend checking out Nick Pitera, he does a lot of Disney and Broadway covers, including "one man" medleys of musicals.
While on the subject of Peter Hollens, my all time favorite of his is Shenandoah. Perhaps I love it so much because my mother and her family hail from southern Virginia, not to far from the Shenandoah valley and I visited there as a child. It's so beautiful. At any rate, Peter certainly does NOT disappoint on this one and I'd love to hear your reaction/analysis.

Totally agree with this. I keep coming back to both of these as well. Always brings a smile!
17:21 That distortion comes from her briefly engaging her ventricular folds. She displays crazy control of her voice in this part of the cover.
What a beast 😲
Oh you should totally react to Hellfire by Jonathan Young if you haven’t yet !
I need this in my life.

@@LunaBianca1805 Don't forget the Bells of Notre Dame! That is probably my favorite.
@@TheSweetieGamer Absolutely!!!
Ooooh definitely! Came here to say the same thing! Hellfire of his duet of the Notre Dame theme song itself!

Disney?! Peter?! Elizabeth rocking her own merch?! Looks like a small slice of musical heaven! I would LOVE to see a collaboration between these two!
I wholly support some of Jonathan Young's villain covers, especially his Hellfire! It's such a good rendition
That and his cover of Bells of Norte Dame with Caleb Hyles
@@dutcherbl Agreed! Good suggestion
And you can't forget his Metal Cover of Be Prepared.
Speaking of hellfire, Please react to Lorna Shore’s, To The Hellfire!
Dont forget Johnathan's Ursula
Whitney’s Broadway musical background really shines through in this video
Whitney Avalon is amazing, I absolutely love her in everything she's done so far. Outstanding voice, super creative mind, fearless 😃
A pity I can only give one thumb's up on this reply!

Definitely second this one. Jonathan is incredible, and boy ohh boy can Lauren sing... I got chills when I first heard their cover
That sounds interesting
I adore Whitney Avalon, and her princess rap battles are so much fun.
13:56 When it zooms out from Mother Gothel with the candle, all the other characters are also in the dark with a light source. A brilliant stroke in a series of brilliant strokes.
Whitney Avalon is a gem. The PRBs are great fun, of course, but her other work is wonderful as well.
Never heard of Whitney before but her voice sounds like she has some Broadway stage training

Whitney Avalon looked like she had so much fun playing LeFou. ha
And "Hellfire" still is the best villain song Disney ever made.
"Ear candy" is the perfect description of Peter Hollens ❤️

My favorite Disney collab. Peter is great and Whitney is awesome! Both deserve more recognition.
One amazing disney metal cover is Jonathan Young's "Hellfire" from Hunchback of Notre Dame. It is great in showing the Frollo's decent into madness.
'Stick with Mama skip the draaaamaaaaa!' makes me giggle every single time!

Whitney also did a Harry Potter version of all that jazz from Chicago called no maj
Mother Knows Best is a great tune, my wife and I quite often sing that one for no real reason.
I've always loved Scar's song.
Also also 9:32 bubbles on the top left lol

The transition between Gaston and Lefou and the tower is one of my favorites. So well thought out and well done.
Peter's Hellfire is my favorite part of this melody. I was so happy when he did the full song. Also, thst ending in the melody I absolutely love.
I think you would LOVE Peter Hollens and Nick Pitera's Wicked Medley (the ending is different on both of their channels!!!)

Surely someone already mentioned it but Peter did a whole Hellfire song separately and that version is absolutely amazing!
I'd like to second the suggestions of Hellfire, either Jonathan's or Violet's version, both amazing.

That ending reminded me of the Disney Princess Melody sang by that group Voctave!
Would love to see you do something from Johnathn Young. His collab with Caleb Hyles on "Its tough to be a God" is amazing
