I have made my bisquits for years just using 2 cups SELF rising flour 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/4 cup Crisco and cup of buttermilk, my kids, grands and greatgrands just LOVE THEM!!! 😉
I love this video. I had never heard of biscuit and gravy before visiting America. I tried it at a church breakfast while travelling in America and thought it was delicious !! Here in New Zealand we call cookies 'biscuits', so I was a bit confused at first when I heard about 'biscuits and gravy'. We would call the sauce a white sauce or bechamel with meat. What we call gravy is something different. Isn't cuisine an interesting thing, from country to country. I love your style of cooking. Blessings ~ Linda
I know Linda, it's so funny, I've had alot of comments from Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, UK, telling me the same thing, I love different cuisines, in fact I would love for my subscribers from different parts of the world to send me their favorite recipe, for me to try and I would video and put it on my Channel, would be so much fun, God Bless, xoxoxo
I just started on The Brown’s channel and Oooooohhhh Im in love 🥰 ❣️. I bing watch too. Lol. (Yes I manage to clean, cook etc as well as binging too. Hahahahaha)
My grandmother made these about every morning when I was growing up in eastern Ky. With “bulldog” gravy. I’m 63 now and when I make biscuits truly feel her presence watching over me.
Biscuit's and gravy , YUM !!! All American down home cookin , stick to your ribs goodness !!! A food group all by themselves . Lovin it ... Knocked it right out of the park Mrs. Lori . Can't wait to try the egg in the biscuit mix . Much love 💕💕💕
Warm milk! I never would have thought of that, but it does make sense that it would incorporate easier. And I think I like thinner biscuits, too. This was a most enjoyable video! Thank you!
When I saw your can biscuit cutter, I was transported back to my mom's kitchen as a child. Except that my mom's can was very dark colored and well worn (maybe even came from her mother) and it had one sole purpose...chopping cabbage for her canned sauerkraut. And then you mentioned making hamburger gravy and serving over toast! I hadn't thought about either one of these things in probably over 40 years. Thanks for sharing your recipes, and for bringing back such great memories for me.
Miss Lori, Another wonderful video and recipes. I love the way you say “It’ll be alright!” if something happens and I believe it’ll be alright. You stay so calm and unruffled. Your biscuits look perfect and are different vs my mommas so can’t wait to make them. The way you make gravy is exactly like my mom and she didn’t use a recipe either. So I watched her and she talked me through it many times then I practiced myself till I got it. I make gravy just like you do too! You always warm my heart, make me smile, and take me back home. 😘❤️
My Momma died before I was interested in homemade southern cooking. I feel blessed to have found your channel and I’m excited to learn from you. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
I absolutely love your channel! You make everyone feel welcomed! Your home is so cozy&warm and I just love you& Mr. Brown🍗🍓🥞🍖🥓🍲🍳🥘🧀🌽🥒🥬 and I love the way you cook!!!!!
Like your video's, I do this sometimes with hot sausage, or I put in one of them packets red pepper flakes, I alway's put a little chili powder in to. But we cheat and usually do the tin of butter flavored biscuits. The wife and I watch one or two of your video's every week.
Do you know anything about angel biscuits? My grandmother got it out of a church recipe book. You could make the batter and put in refrigerator for a few days.i loved them.
Omg !! 1 more coment just took out of oven and drizzled honey all OVER 2 of them and my belly is turning a flip Into Awesomeness !!! Try them who ever comes across this great lady who can cook . Will not be disappointed. Again I thank you thank you thank you
This is one of my favorite thing to eat!! I make the gravy from scratch and I used to make biscuits from scratch!! You’ve inspired me to make them from scratch again!! God Bless!! Love and Hugs to y’all!! I’m from Georgia!! Learned to cook by my granny’s side!!!
Thank byou so much for your recipe Ms. Lori! I live in America but I'm Italian. I asked my American fiance' what he wanted for his birthday breakfast and he said 'biscuit and gravy' and I knew you'd have a good recipe for this - and here I am - he'll be having Ms. Lori's version and I'm sure it'll be wonderful! Thank you!
I love making butter biscuits and gravy...... I cook my biscuits in a iron skillet and they always come out perfect. I’ve never used eggs so I’m definitely going to have to give your recipe a try ♥️. God bless you and your family and thank you for sharing your talent for cooking good old home cooking♥️. You always make me so hungry 😋......💞😊
Thanks once again Laurie for another simple & sustaining recipe. The tip about using Sausage gravy on toast is a good one since everybody has bread in their pantry. Also it's a time saver & it helps those of us who have little confidence in our baking. Again thank you & Mr. Brown for your show! It's a God's send anytime but especially now during these times. God bless you all. RMH/Ohio
Watching you gives me comfort ❤️ I have been binge watching you all night. Love your recepies! Love your home and how you live ❤️ Thank you for sharing 💜❤️💙✌️🌻🏡🌷🌻
Dearest Lori, thank you, thank you thank you! I am so happy for these recipes! I am so homesick for southern cooking and this makes me so happy! I'm a new subscriber. I love your channel. I have made biscuits and gravy for years but I never tried putting an egg in the biscuit dough. The next time I make biscuits I'm going to try it - your biscuits and gravy looked delicious!
I'm so glad I found your channel. We've been out of our house due to a fire for 10 months. I can't wait until I get back home and cook. You're an inspiration.
Miss Lori, I love your videos. Thank you for taking the time to make them. Yes, I agree, please put out a cookbook. Everything I have watched you do makes me think of my mother's and grandma's recipes and they way they cooked. Your regular biscuits make me think of my aunt cuz that is exactly how she makes here biscuit. She like them on the thinner side too. I absolutely love your wood cook stove. I don't know how to cook on one but I would sure love to learn, I just don't know anyone who has one. Wish I did.
I'm so excited to get this biscuit recipe. I have my mamaw's old biscuit cutter, it has a worn green wooden handle. Now I can put it to good use. Like I said before my wife and I both cook. I just want to say I have 2 favorite RUclips channels. Whippoorwill Holler, of course, and Larry Satchwell. Honestly they are both rated the same. Yes the rating is VERY HIGH! I do watch others but these are my favorite. God bless!!!
When you keep your ingredients in a jar, put a piece of tape over the top of the jar. That way when you go to measure, you can flatten off the top of your measuring spoon.
Makes a vegetarian want to cheat! Really like your measuring spoons, were they a recent purchase? Also, that Hamilton Beach mixer on the counter brings back memories of drugstore sofa fountains! Bless U too.
Hi Lorene! The measuring spoons were a gift from miss Vickie, at Vickies country Home, the drug store blender was bought from a friend that goes to alot of auctions, it works great! Xoxoxo
Lori I was yellin’ at ya that you forgot that egg 🥚 LOL 😂! This is one of my absolute favorite breakfasts. Looks so good. I make meat gravy and mashed potatoes regularly... do you make yours with milk? I’ve seen it that way, I’ve always used beef broth. Thanks for sharing another delicious meal. And as always continued blessings to you and yours. 💗🌸💕

Im from Ky and I remember my mom and grandmother cutting cabbage up with a can! They were sharp back then and they would put some heads in a big bowl and chop all day!
1. Never had any problems with cold milk. Never ruined a batch of gravy. Taught by my dad from KY. 2. I could eat sausage gravy on a flip flop and it would taste good. My biscuit making skills are a little rough, I need more practice. Love your channel. Thank you
Beautiful roses! Tomorrow morning I'm making biscuits and gravy. It's something I don't make very often. A substitution my gram did was with her pie crust. As you said shortening is the best for pie crust. But that day gram was out. So she used bacon grease. Wow! We all liked it better. She did not add any salt when using bacon grease. I've used it myself and get the most lovely pie crusts.
You sure can cook! My 10 yr old daughter & i have been binge watching your RUclips videos for an hour now, God bless u & thanks for the joy of watchin your cookin 🍳
I just love your channel. Its down home feel and all your content is very satisfying and real to watch. I look forward to each show Thanks and don’t change a thing!

Mercy! If that doesn't get your motor runnin' of a mornin', I don't know what WOULD! This looks SO very good! I could practically smell it as I watched. And I don't think I've ever seen a biscuit that looked a bit crunchy on the outside. But those looked DELICIOUS! You made me hungry for breakfast at supper time. God bless.

Yummy! Lucky Mr. Brown, ha! Will be making this over the weekend! Brilliant biscuit cutter! I saved this video to my favorites! Thanks for sharing this!
Mrs. Lori , I like thin biscuits too! I've always removed my sausage, then made my gravy. I'll try your method because it's quicker! Thanks for this tip!
We use to make that every Sunday when our kids were little. Now we make it for our grandchildren. But everyone know that if it was Sunday. All our kids friends and our friends would some how make it over. We always made more then enough for everyone. By the way we have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. Your videos always brings me back home to when I was young and to when our children were little. Thank you and God bless.
