Can do will do and just did. Most of my friends here in the states are Irish. I've been to cork county and it was great. I told the taxi driver I wanted to fish the lock and he said you can't fish the lock. I said why all I want to do is catch one take it's picture and throw it back. And he said well if you do that's what they will do to you thell catch you take your picture and throw you in the back. Every body in Ireland seems to be a comedian. I'm guessing it's the good whiskey. God bless.

@@TheHillbillyKitchen have you done any videos on how to make homemade chicken and dumplings? My mamaw used to make the best dumplings that took half the day to make. She used to boil a whole chicken then remove the chicken and drop the dumplings into the broth. I cannot remember how she made her dumplings but she would role out the dough on the kitchen table and cut a diamond pattern. They were thin 1/4 inch, dense dumplings.

My grandma taught me how to make homemade biscuits when I was very young, around 8 years old. She always cut the Crisco in the flour until the Crisco had very small pieces of it. Then we would use buttermilk for the liquid. I think I will try your 2 ingredient recipe tomorrow morning. Grandma always made her biscuits and she served them with chipped beef milk gravy, cantaloupe if in season, Home grown tomatoes, and scrambled eggs. Talk about GOOD!! I sure do miss that woman!

You brought back memories of my childhood.🌈 You know, some of my mom's last advice to me was not to worry about the outcome of any situation because God always gives us 'what he wants us to have'. We're all here playing our own role in the story of life and the sun will shine on the evildoers just as likely as the rain will ruin even the best hairdo day.🤔There's a lesson in there somewhere so don't fret, God knows what he's doing.💞

Great recipe. A few things I've learned over the years:
If I use self-rising flour, I use all-purpose floor to roll them out on and dust them. Loose self-rising flour dusting the surfaces will give the biscuit a bitter taste after baking.
After cutting and placing your biscuits, let them sit for five minutes or so before baking. This will make them less tough.
I didn't see you do it, but I want to warn other people. Don't twist your cutter while cutting. This seals the edge and keeps the biscuit from rising.
After cutting the biscuit, place it in the pan (or on the sheet) upside-down from the way they were cut. Turn them over. This helps them rise higher.

Thanks for the additional tips! Biscuits, bread, pasta, pie crust, etc ate my FAVORITE foods- and also the ones I have the most trouble with. My great grandpa was a professional baker- my grandma says I definitely didn’t get those genes 😂

Every good biscuit has a few individual perks. I agree about not twisting while cutting. I've picked up a few things that helped me this year. I fold my dough in the same bowl. I just flour my hands and sprinkle a little on the dough while folding. Usually about 8 times or till it feels right. I used heavy cream once, but the biscuits just weren't any good. This is what I do. I sift 2 cups, White Lily self-rising flour. Add 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 3/4 stick of lightly salted grated butter, 1/2 cup whole buttermilk (NOT LOWFAT), 1/2 cup Vitamin D milk. (the mixture of milk makes the biscuit a bit more fluffy and less dense). I mix it all with a fork. Once the dough is ready, I remove from the bowl and roll it out to about 3/4" high, then cut them using a metal biscuit cutter. I put them in an Iron skillet that's very lightly greased with the edges touching. Then coat the tops with buttermilk. I just dip my finger in the cup and put a bit on the biscuits. In the oven for 15-20 min at 475. This is the absolute best recipe I've found so far. Everyone in my family loves these. Even the 3-year-old granddaughter prefers these over a cookie. I must be doing something right. Oh. I always fry extra sausage patties we can have sausage biscuits the next day. I always make sausage gravy to go with the biscuits too. Biscuits and gravy coming this morning. Can't wait...

@@jacquelynwilliams9988 Those are the ingredients my Mamma used, also. My Grandma (on my Daddy's side) had a BIG wooden bowl she and my Aunt Lois (Whose first name is my middle name.) used to make biscuits in - that bowl *always* had at least some flour in it and was never washed !!! One reason for that being is how they always had to use it every Sunday for our family "Sunday Dinners " where at least 15 to 20 family members always showed up, every weekend. The long DR table was just "packed" with homemade dishes, and casseroles; cooked freshly snapped greenbeans;(my sister and I did some of) freshly shelled, cooked, butter beans and black eyed peas - some of which my sister and I shelled); freshly schucked corn on the cob (we did that, too); fresh and homemade mashed potatoes (we peeled some of those); with chicken gravy that was made from the pan drippings after frying up three or four freshly cleaned (plucked) chickens;, and, homemade (never boxed) macaroni and cheese; AND, BUTTERMILK BISCUITS. Sometimes, we'd have homemade pickles and/or pickled watermelon rind. Ahhh, the memories of the "Good - Ol' - Days!!!" That was when food was really prepared with lots o' love, and, families STILL got together and enjoyed being with eachother! I miss those days, too, and, will always have fond memories of them !!!

I always spoon the flour into the measure cup. That is the way I was taught. Then I sift and measure again. Then I sift together the dry ingredients. I'm a very slow cook. But nobody leaves until they eat their fill. Praise God for the gift of cooking.
