Yes, my Grandma is 95 and still says we have to turn off everything and sit quietly during a thunderstorm. I'm going to share this recipe with her she claims that they've changed the flour and have added saw dust (Gold Medal and King Arthur). She used to use Hecker's but we don't see that on the shelves anymore. I don't bake as much as she does, so idk but I will order that flour you have suggested. Thank you for sharing. This video came right on time.
This will be a new version for us. So many of the recipes I've seen have too many ingredients. We only had 3 and 1 was lard 😮! I'm anxious to try these next week and make them in my cast iron pan. When I was a child we were told that during a thunderstorm it was the angels bowling! 😂
Perfect timing! Thank you! Im making biscuits and gravy . Every recipe of yours I've ever made has been amazing! Your banana pudding to name one. Now, have you got a recipe for gravy? Thank you for sharing your recipes. God bless you and yours. ❤️🙏
Thanks for this recipe. I have been wanting a simple biscuit recipe because that is the only thing that i have not been able to get right in my adult cooking life, and I have been cooking for years. I am going to try this soon. And oh 😢, my maternal grandmother was just like yours when it came to cooking biscuits and bad weather. Be blessed.
At my Muhdear's house all radios.. TV's etc unplugged.. mirrors covered.. a certain HUSH fell over the house.. everyone was in the living room .. if bed time came one by one of us kids were put to bed.. then she herself would retire for the night. If we woke up to the storm everyone laid quietly one by one to the bathroom and back.. she'd cover and unplug accordingly.. once it passed over then life carried on as usual. I miss her still after almost 60 years.❤❤❤
Butter and cane syrup for those biscuits please. Oh Boy syrup was a really good brand back in the day. Went perfect with biscuits, thick cut bacon, and scrambled eggs. Great job!
Hello Camirra, im going to try making these biscuits, i have the same biscuit mix & i will pick up some heavy cream! Your biscuits looks delicious. 😊❤🙏 Ms. Ruby
Looks absolutely Scrumptious 😋👩🏽🍳 Chef Camirra well done 👏🏽. Enjoy a happy and blessed stress free peaceful weekend with your family God bless you all. Amen 🙏🏽🇬🇭🇺🇸 ♥️💛💚😎✨👑✨
Good Lord! I think even I could make these biscuits!!! Thank you for the simple recipe!!! Nope…my Grandmas never told us to do that. Then again, we are from the West/Southwest part of the country!! ❤
My grandmother is 94 and still like that. Lmbo. That's my bestie. She is one of the strongest women I know. Still farming, and doing all the things chile. Lol.
I have tried to make these but now I'll fluff an sift my flour an top them with butter . Can't wait to see how good there going to be . Thank you so much . 🌺
Your biscuits look delicious. I've been making two-ingredient biscuits for a while, but from now on, I'm going to follow your recipe because I've learned several things from you that I didn't know. Regarding the storm: Yes, in my home growing up, we had to be quiet when it was thundering and lightening. TV's were turned off as well.
YUMMMMMMMM!! FLAT OUT YUMMMMMMMM!!! THIS IS MY UTTER WEAKNESS!! MY HORRIBLE HORRIBLE WEAKNESS!! AND YOUR BISCUITS LOOK COMPLETELY PERFECT AND AMAZING!!! 😋😍🥰😍😋❣️

The package instructions say 'buttermilk' and I'm not saying we can't make 'our own' by using heavy cream; I'm just curious about the differences?
Hey Camirra 🤗 I’m gonna be a biscuit making fool 😂 Honestly I thought it was more to it. Granny 🙏🏾 made all sorts of bread when I was growing up. All of it was delicious 😋 especially with those homemade preserves or jelly. My Granny left the butter on the kitchen table in a covered butter dish. The t-storm thing was actual & factual. I either sat and flipped through GOOD HOUSEKEEPING or BETTER HOMES & GARDENS magazines or WORLD BOOK ENCYCLOPEDIA 😂 Good ol days at my Grandparents house.
@@CamirrasKitchen cool . I love watching cooking videos/shows cook's country/ATK are other favorites. I think I remember a segment with Jack who compares brands (quality, price, unit per price, general availability, etc) that suggested MW (or was it white lily 🤔 or both ) as top competitors

Yes ma'am!! I joke to my son about how we had to be mute & shut off all the tv's when the Lord was doing his work 😂 she still calls us and tells us storm is coming so make sure yall not doing nothing until the Lord is done😁
Ok hun, those biscuits look so good!! I do not care for the store bought rolls at all. My daddy used to make biscuits but just regular ol Jiffy. I did like my grammas biscuits but never thought about making them. Shoot, this is prob gonna sound stupid of me, but I've always just bought all-purpose flour, never thinking there was anything else 😅. Anyways, my whole reason for commenting is for another kind of flour to use? I'm in Las Vegas, and it's quite expensive to have it shipped here even from Walmart. There is Bob's Mill, Great value self rising also, but I'm just stuck, but I really really want to make them like yours, pleaseee help me 🙏🙏🙏 P.S. I will also have to invest in a biscuit cutter 🤦♀️😂👌
I would try Bob's Mill or King Arthur self rising flour. Go with which ever one you can find in the store. I'm for sure not a flour snob, but I do think for biscuits if you have a better quality ( esp white wheat flour) it makes a differnce in the lightness and crumb of it. though I would go so far as to have some flour shipped lol. Mine is like this amzn.to/3zSFFaF. But if you dont make them all that often, just use a knife and make square biscuts.
@CamirrasKitchen oh wow, thanks so much!! They are cheap too. I am an Amazon snob, tho. I buy everything at Amazon. If I buy something else that takes a week, I get soooo annoyed 😆. I saw that it's self rising and doesn't need to be unbleached, so I found some white Lilly to be shipped, but with my Walmart sub, I get it sent for free. Thanks so much for the info. I will let ya know how they turn out 👌😊
Yes Lawd folks, my family the same, get off the phone during the thunderstorm and don't talk during a thunderstorm. Superstitious foolishness true enough, but still good memories.
I ain’t gonna lie, a powerful thunderbolt struck and I just had to turn my computer off be quiet and lay down haha 😂 this bolt was so strong I knew Jesus was coming back. Immediately reverted to my childhood 😂
No folding 11:02 at my house... just pat out and cut but thicker. My grandma would have agreed with everything you said about a using light hand and and not overworking the dough and using soft winter wheat flour but you still handled dough too much and added too much flour with all that folding. Try skipping that you will get a higher lighter biscuits with no layers.
