Thank you Mr Kent I'm a 16 year old boy who lives with just mom, so she's always over worked and can't teach me to cook. And schools no longer provide a home economic class that would teach me to cook. So thank you Kent for teaching me to cook
Keep cooking dude, its therapeutic and for-filling, i been cooking over 15 years, just recently found Kent’s channel, love the way he cooks and how simple he makes it.
Good for you dude, keep at it.
What an inspiring message, "MY GLOCK IS A CROTCH ROCKET FOR HER HOT POCKET"!
my dude, keep that work ethic. I grew up in a similar situation. you cannot possibly know right now just how much your mom appreciates what you are doing. now that my mom is in her late 70's and our roles are switched, the gratitude cannot be expressed in words when you come home from a crappy day of hard work to a warm meal and good company. much respect for taking care of what you can. I know it's not always easy or fun, but trust me, down the road, you will look back at this time with her as some of your favorite memories.
Get into the habit of making dinner for both of you on a regular basis. You'll really be helping her out.
If any of your friends tell you that biscuits and gravy isn't a dinner meal, dump them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

True that, Evil Otto !!
The pup and the biscuits both get a thumbs up! ❤❤

Cowboy Kent's ability to entertain without the use of coarse language is something I really appreciate.
I swear man. I love ya to death. You're what America used to be. Thanks for all of the recipes and the great production. I'll be makin some of your bisquits and gravy in just a bit. Keep doing it Kent.

Never in my life have I put an egg in a batch of biscuits, or cooked them in a cast iron skillet. Never again will I do it any differently than this recipe. Beautiful, tender, crispy on the outside, and buttery are how mine turned out. I did not have cream of Tartar, so I added some vinegar to the mix, and they rose nicely. I love watching Kent cook, much like my grandparents did. Good stuff!
Thank you for sharing your experience and substitutions. I don’t have any cream of tartar either. I, too, have never put eggs in my biscuit dough. I’ll try it this way. My biscuits usually turn out pretty good.

I can tell you this I love a lot of Mexican food so I would say that yes we have our delicious food in America but you have your delicious food down South of the border that's for sure so you have nothing to be shameful about when it comes to cuisine because Mexican cuisine is one of the top three in my opinion!

Mr. Kent, I’m a grown man who is just trying to stand on his own two feet, and when you’re living on your own, I learned you need to know how to cook! I’m new to your channel, but I have a strong feeling that you are a truly kind man, and if those biscuits and gravy taste half as good as they look, then this Okie will be grateful to learn from you!

I remember my mom making gravy. She would use Pet milk and she would make a roux my adding the flour to whatever fat she was using and would brown it. It gave the gravy a lovely brown color, depending on how long she cooked the flour. Absolutely delicious.

Howdy, Kent! I'm loving your content. These videos rekindle my faith that life can be simple and beautiful. Thank you.
You are very welcome
Thanks for another great cooking video. I cook biscuits like my mother taught me. I'm the middle of five sons and she could always use a hand in kitchen. My wife never minded me helping out either and I remain the official biscuit baker for the family. I do not recall seeing a recipe with egg or cream of tartar but I'm not to old to try something new that looks like a delicious alternative. BTW, it is a pleasure to hear Shannon in the background and see her on screen occasionally. It's clear you married up and it is obvious that you treasure her as a Christian husband should.

Just found this channel. Biscuits and Gravy has to be one of my favorites. My grandpa used to make it a lot when I was younger. I'd always go in for seconds and if there was any left after that I'd clean the rest up. He passed a few years ago, my grandma still makes it here and there, or if I ask nicely. It's one of my many ways of remembering him. I know one day I'll see him again, somewhere. And when I do, I'll make us some Biscuits and Gravy with coffee.

I think if I came across a video of Kent reading a old sears catalog or a dictionary I'd still sit and watch just to hear him put his own little spin on things.. please keep the videos coming we love them...
As someone from the UK the thought of Biscuits and Gravy to me sounds insane - however after seeing those beautiful things you pulled out of that pan I'm going to have to come get me some.

Yeah these aren't sweet biscuits they're more like savory scone. Great with just some butter as side or split in half for a crispy chicken sandwich or eggs and cheese and bacon. Now I want some thanks ya muppet.

As a guy that works at a lumber yard I also enjoyed this episode.
This is my comfort food. But in Upstate NY there are few places that do a good job at it. In despiration I started making my own (with the buttermilk substitute of vinegar & lemon juice). We have a bunch of neighbor guys (10) who get together to process pork into sausage in the early spring. Last year we did 650 lbs of pork shoulder into several sausage variations. And once the clean-up is done we have a heck of a bourbon "tasting" party and solve the world's problems.
The breakfast sausage, in white gravy, on fluffy biscuits. Heaven. I will be using your spatula declumping idea. Never thought of that.
I'll always remember the first time I had my parents try some American biscuits... they had tears of joy haha and that's coming from a French family, bread is everything to us!!!

My mom was born and raised in Oklahoma on a hog farm. I may have been born and raised in California, but I was blessed to grow up with Okie cooking! Biscuits and gravy (with sausage or pork steaks or bacon), fried eggs and fried taters every weekend. If you got biscuits and gravy in California, they probably werent propper biscuits and gravy lol.
@@hossman8499highly doubt that lol
@Thomas-cx6cb I believe that you did have biscuits and gravy in California. Like my grandmother's newly-wed sister and her husband, who left Texas during the Dust Bowl of the Great Depression to answer the call for farm workers in the Central Valley of California, hundreds of others from farming and ranching families with roots in the South brought their recipes and methods of cooking with them on this trek. Their stories were what inspired Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. Even before that, those who went West during the Gold Rush, and after the Civil War, must have partaken of a version of this meal. My own great grandfather, from Arkansas, spoke of having sausage gravy and biscuits as a boy before the turn of the 20th century, on his family's journey to settle in Texas. He worked in the logging camps of East Texas as a mule skinner and a camp cook, and was known for his buttery, sourdough biscuits cooked in cast iron the way Cowboy Kent is showing us.
Nothing better than Bs&Gs!
For sure
You can tell if a restaurant is decent by the biscuits and gravy.

Appalachian Gravy
Recipe for 4 people
2 tbsp bacon drippins
1 big tomato chopped
1/2 cup finely chopped onion (half a normal sized white onion)
2 Tbsp flour
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp dried thyme
Bacon grease into pan, cook onions first until brown and softened, then add diced tomatoes, and thyme. Bring to simmer stir often.
In mixing bowl combine milk, flour, salt, and pepper.
When tomatoes soften pour in milk mixture
Gravy done. (Add more milk to get it to consistency you want) usually add extra half cup during summer phase
I always tell people from other countries to try this if they visit the US. I've only met a handful who didn't love it. Make sure you always add enough sausage!

I can’t wait to try making these myself. It’s been too long since I’ve had good biscuits and sausage gravy.
Hey Kent. I made these Saturday *and* Sunday. The first attempt, I used 1 teaspoon of baking powder, instead of 1 Tablespoon. The gravy was awesome both days! Biscuits & Gravy is one of my favorite Comfort Foods especially my Mom’s Recipe…
R.I.P. Ma
God Bless…
I have made the gravy like this for years. My mom and grandma taught me and I’ve never forgotten it. I showed my wife how to do it and she comes close, but manages to mess it up. I don’t know how she does it. I think she doesn’t want to make it and screws it up to make her point. Lol anyway bless you and your family brother. Have both cook books, awaiting the third.
Same here, my wife messes gravy up everytime. The most common mistake is rushing the roux. You need to cook the flour long enough to get a good taste without burning it. And if you want to spice it up a bit use 1/2 sausage and 1/2 chorizo, my family insists on it now adays.
