Not sure if they're going to make an ongoing villain the Mycotyrant, but it can become a way to preserve/share knowledge on Ixalan. A truce can be made if they find a less "invasive" to share the knowledge being symbiotic intead of parasytic (I mean a simic way maybe)

Pirates were always black blue and red but this set gave us a black blue green pirate because it's a fungal pirate.
Don't forget that there was a black and green Planeswalker that made pirate tokens in the original Ixalan. Vraska was a unique captain.

So the surface dwellers sent a few missions that managed to enter the core, a random battle ensues and the Mycotyrant is killed off by a hand full of random adventurers? Just like that? The Mycotyrant has been built up to be such a threat and then this? Magic lore really is... not good anymore, especially compared to what it once was. The world building is still nice, but man, the lore is just sad now.
