COMMANDER MASTERS story for Magic: the Gathering
The Eldrazi have been some of the biggest threats in the Magic: The Gathering Miltiverse while also being one of its biggest mysteries. In Commander Masters we have a new LEGENDARY Eldrazi card that adds more to the lore of the Eldrazi. For the first time in MTG, we get a legendary Eldrazi creature that's not a titan. What is Zhulodok, Void Gorger? What is its story? What new lore does it bring for the Eldrazi?

Thus the name of the legendary creature Rayami, first of the fallen came to be. He turned into a vampire due to the eldrazi corrupting madness
So this is really in truth, THE FIRST Eldrazi to come to Zendikar

You know, with Drana desperate to make new Blood Chiefs and Anowon looking for redemption for his inaction against the Eldrazi, it would be pretty cool to feature a story with them both on the trail of the secret to making Bloodchiefs. Maybe they'll learn that the only way to make more bloodchiefs would be to call another Eldrazi to the plane or find a way to replicate their colourless mana effects, leading one or the other to push to far and need to be stopped. Maybe Drana in her desperation will believe that she can control or contain a new Eldrazi if she is present before it feeds too much, and Anowon can redeem himself by using his knowledge of the Eldrazi to stop her. Maybe Anowon is cursed to repeat his mistakes, and delves too deeply for knowledge and is stonewalled out of a ruin or site under Drana's control to keep him from calling another Apocalypse.
Regardless, fun to learn about where the vampires originated, thanks for the fun vid.
Them finding a cave, with the "equipment" used by the planeswalkers to lure the eldrazi to Zendikar, and then turning it on, would be cool
It would be really interesting if drana in her quest of creating new bloodchiefs free'd emrakul or re made one of the titans somehow it would be the coolest way for them to come back
Except she'd need to find an omenpath to Innistrad to free Emrakul, in which case she could probably just bring Innistradi vampirism back instead.
Bringing back old foes has to stop at some point. I'd rather move on, but I'm not the one to decide.

@@Seven-il8of she's not a separate species, she's a Kor who's been converted. Not to mention, I'm not certain she'd want to risk further mind controlling influence from the eldrazi (especially as she fought against them) AND she'd have to both know that Emrakul is trapped on Innistrad, and find a way to get there.
@@anthonydelfino6171 she would probably know trough some random plot point also they are different species it's not the same type of vampires at all also my idea was she would free her on accident while trying to somehow take her energy or something to create new vampires

Super dope commander. Built a list for Z right as it was spoiled, and already ordered and received my proxy order for the whole deck. I had preordered the precon, but the price is not changing so I am canceling it since I already have the deck and I don’t want to spend a silly amount on a precon… Of the new carda, I only want 3-4 of them so I’ll just get them as singles :)
This is honestly what I think Crimson Vow should've been! I don't know how it would tie into Midnight hunt but I think it would be cool to see Dranna in a desperate attempt to spawn that she convinces or tricks Tamyo into releasing Ulamog thus creating a rivalry between them Teferi, Chandra and the inhibitors of Innistrad. Dranna could then spark due to the power she unleashed and it would've become a War of the Spark type war. Dranna being the Liliana to Ulamog's Nicol Bolas.
Great video! I love that we've gotten lore on why there aren't more blood chiefs. I can't help but be disappointed that Zholodok isn't a titan in his on right on a different plain that could have opened up a path for a new eldrazi story.
Loved the video! Would it be possible to get a video on Anikthea, Hand of Erebos? Theros is my favorite plane, so new lore on it is always awesome!

By any chance could you do a video on anikthea hand of erebos, she was my other favorite new commander, and I was between getting her precon or this one, but due to prices and the lack of eldrazi fully I think I may get her precon instead

Wait... the titans are defeated/dead (can't remember if they were fully destroyed or not), but is Zhulodok still around?
If so, I'm guessing he'll be the "big bad" of Zendikar, other than Nahiri.

with the pathways between the planes open. i think drana will take her clan to innistrad to appeal to Emrakul to make a new vampire clan. this clan might be blue or black blue.

Im just gonna put this out there, (as a big fan of leylines themselves) I vote for there to be a 4 cmc colorless leyline. I have no idea what it could possibly do. Any ideas?
Off the cuff, just leyline if anticipation, but only for colorless. We already have 2 of those ob bodies though

Sucks that it's not an eldrazi deck, it's a tron deck that doubled down on the weakness of full colorless eldrazi decks

@@paultrujillo8539 the full colorless eldrazi decks(titans) suffer from high mana costs that rely on you balancing ramp and reduction with few answers available

May I simply correct you in the functionality of the titans? Emrakul twists material to morph them into something more akin to eldrazi. Ulamog devours totally, leaving behind only a chalky dust in his wake. Whereas Kozilek warps reality, leaving behind horrid landscapes of bismuth that house no life.
I would've enjoyed seeing Slivdrazi vs Phyrexians as the conclusion to MTG before the new additions of Universes Beyond.
eldrazi would steamroll both phyrexia and slivers with no difficulty

My first introduction into your channel was your cover of the gatewatch lore so anything Eldrazi by you is exciting!
I was looking forward to playing the Eldrazi precon but unless the price drops when released I can't justify it especially as all the other key Eldrazi cards inexplicably left out of it have massively spiked. So I'm going to a reggae festival instead.

Well, Drana and several others resisted him when he was around the first time. So probably it would only be the 'weak-willed' vampires that would fall to him.

Just plugging my theory Ashiok is Dyfed returned after dark ritual tied yawgmoth to phyrexia's original world soul.
Zhulodok is really close to Zheludok, which is Stomach in russian

So the Vampires of Zendikar are cursed beings not undead so they are basicly the same as Sorin which means that it could be possible for them to have Planeswalker

this makes me wonder if all vampires effectively originate from the eldrazi similar to how all dragons and be traced back to the ur-dragon. perhaps ur is a moniker for multi-galaxy/dimensional beings that spread or destroy life.
If I remember right Edgar Markov became the first vampire on Inistrad after making a deal with a demon and drinking angel blood

Edit: though it could be explained away as them using what was basically essence of eldrazi.

That's not a mystery. We knew vampires came from Ulamog a long time ago. Naming a "piece" of him doesn't change being the source. Would've been cooler if Zhulodok was a minor titan or something more than just this

The only devastating effect Zhulodok has on anything is on your wallet if you want to play it in this 'for everyone-format' called commander. With the new commander masters set WotC has shown that it goes to any length to make sure players get milked.
Nothing against them branching out and releasing more stuff. However... They cannot possibly expect their average active adult players to spend more on their game than the occasional hundred bucks every couple months, right? Right? ... ... ... Right? O.o They can do their math, for sure.
It seems like it's the stores that they're actually milking. It's ravaging the secondary market and making a sizeable portion of players switch to Arena, which brings way less value per player and has a much lower retention potential (way easier to pick up another card game in the digital space than it is to start a whole new physical collection from scratch). Well... They've been know for shooting themselves in the foot for decades at this point, so... unless they know something we don't...
I had assumed it was something as simple as a very specific noteworthy spawn of ulamog (because of the arms), but I was still kind of holding out hope that WoTC was going to do something wierd, like reincarnations of the two dead titans. Oh, well.
I'm not going to get the precon is over price. I already own every eldrazi. I just need to order the new cards

That precon is awful, it only compounds on the problem they only fixed in BFZ block. There's only 10 eldrazi in the precon btw and about 8 good cards for eldrazi
I love the Eldrazi, unfortunately the $80 price tag is more than I can swing. I guess I can just buy singles!
I would buy the pre-con if it wasn't $120+, can't find it for retail price even if I could it would still be too expensive. I'm pretty much done buying products like that and will just stick to singles for now on

I really hope wizards fixes the lore on eldrazi. The bodies they used on zendikar were avatars, like you said, which was described as if you were a fish seeing a hand in the water. The avatar is just the eldrazis “hand”. Yet at one point, Maro says that the avatar death in gatewatch was the death of the actual titans. This is such a lame end for such a great story beat

The eldrazi are not from space. They are preternatural beings from outside the plain of existence. They have no need for mana. The best way to describe them might be transcendental.

The irony is that the eldrazi deck is awful for eldrazi tribal. All the titans are terrible commanders for tribal
So what would you recommend? I’m thinking of using Jhoira or something for a Eldrazi deck

@@paultrujillo8539 for 1, they give you access to the devoid eldrazi one of whom can give you infinite eldrazi in selesnya or naya. Also, with the devoid eldrazi, you lower your mana curve so you don't rely on tron

Sorin is a very punchable and self interested vampire, and he made things worse after she got locked in the helvault
We never really destroyed planes How many worlds have they destroyed? And nobody has ever accidentally traveled 21 of those worlds and saw all the destruction in the chass agitate cheap way of adding more Coolest creatures and spells that aren't artifacts

Why would the only remaining blood chief want to dilute her power by creating more? That goes against the color pie for black mana which is supposed to be ambitious and sacrificing others for personal gain.
