Not suprised Slayer had a problem. I heard that Blackie would often get zooted on qualudes backstage and start saying he was a Wasp King looking for his Wasp Queen. He would start making buzzing sounds, with his arms out and threaten to sting anyone that got in his way. The 80s were crazy! 😮

Having Slayer open for WASP was a stupid idea. WASP back then were going for a more traditional Heavy Metal sound that was coming out in the 80s, Glam with a bit of a cutting edge to it, while Slayer was an extreme thrash band that drew in a different crowd, some of whom couldn't accept genres outside of extreme metal.
Rock on dude to me slayer kinda sounds more like bit of cross over cause the drums have more that punk feel and rest is metal but it's still thrash metal. Couldn't they all just be under one label metal.
Agreed. I love Slayer even though I lost interest after Seasons cuz Divine Intervention wasn't very good. W.A.S.P. is my favorite band of all time.

I saw Testament open for Slayer and they blew the roof off the place. Slayer came out to a frenzied crowed, and it was awesome.

I like both bands (actually I like WASP more than Slayer) but those were two bands that just shouldn’t have toured together. I don’t understand why bands tour with a headliner that doesn’t share their audience. Notable examples would be Hole opening for Marilyn Manson, Bulletboys opening for Ozzy Osbourne, and Thrice opening for HIM.

@@Chris-fg7sn all my friends laugh whenever something stupid like that comes through, they all know I have always been way above grade level since 3rd grade which is first IOWA test(pick up your #2 pencils and fill in the oval you think is the best answer). By the last one which is 11th grade my friends joked I didn't need anymore English though I was considering journalism as my major, since I surely read & wrote beyond a Master's level (in the results they say students reading comprehension is at a 6-7 grade level), in 3rd grade. Writing's usually on par with reading. I actually used to get upset when autocorrect may've caused me to appear in the lower echelons but I've gotten over it since Ricky Toad🤣. Thanks for pointing that out though, sometimes I wonder if autocorrect has become sentient & out of boredom just messes with people 😱🤣

I love W.A.S.P., they're a great Metal band (honestlyI preferthem to Slayer), and I love Blackie Lawless, but Blackie, especially in the 80s and 90s was a total prick, there are SOOOO many former bandmates, producers, and roadies who will attest to this.
He seems to have chilled a bit now, especially after he became a born again Christian, but there's no denying, he was a pain in the ass to work with, especially back then.

I was there at the Aragon ballroom in Chicago for this tour and everyone was there just to see Slayer. I stayed with my friends for the remainder of the show but I’m guessing there were maybe 100-150 people in the place to see wasp & half of them including myself spent the entire time they were up there flipping them off & chanting “wasp sucks” & calling them “posers”. Their guitarist Chris Holmes at one point during the show in the middle of a song flipped us the finger back lol.
