Petra started it all for me. That's when I first found out about Christian Rock! Then I found David Meece and Bryan Duncan. I thought that was pretty much going to be it. Not sure if I could make a top 5 Christian metal artists list but I do enjoy the more metalcore and extreme metal side of the scene. I really loved the Holy Name album, it was one of my favorites from 2023 and I love that it's basically the spiritual successor to Sleeping Giant. I will give you a sub

@@christianrockmusiccollective ohhhhh. Their first albums are the best. Didn't like anything after Weapons of our Warfare until I heard Hear What I Say!
I love your included Chaotic Resemblance, their lyrics are the bomb. And my top 5 are: Stryper, Blooodgood, Disciple, Chaotic Resemblance and Theocracy.
I really wanted to include Disciple but I think I am going to include them in the Rock Top 5. The categories are sometimes unclear, but I think Disciple would be rock.
What a great list! I also watched your best Christian Rock bands, as well! Very insightful, very well explained - I will definetly check some of these bands out! My question is: have you considered Demon Hunter? I would say my list of 5 would be: 1) Demon Hunter; 2) Theocracy; 3) Stryper; 4) Skillet; and 5) Red. I look forward to more videos from you! I subbed. God bless you!
I am the same! May I recommend listening to: The Last One Alive; I Am a Stone; Coolapsing; Dead Flowers; and my fave: On My Side! You will find incredible dynamics, magnificent musicianship, MELODY, and minimsl screaming. Enjoy!
I just stumbled across this channel and it touched my old soul. Back in 1980 I was in a phenomenal Christian rock band. I had just turned 18 and got the gig as the drummer with some older friends who had been playing awhile and were so good. The songs they wrote and the musicianship, the vocals and their dedication to Christ was as good as it gets. We played a lot of churches, college campuses etc and even recorded some outstanding tracks. Our guitar player actually had a good relationship with the folks from Resurrection… It was new and at times offensive to staunch church administrators because it was pure rock and it was not always acceptable. But, people don’t realize how hard it is financially to tour as a Christian based rock band. We played in front of a lot of people, and I remember eating happy meals and sleeping in strangers houses on tour. I couldn’t pay my bills and we all had full time jobs, it was very hard. I eventually had to join the military because I was one step away from homelessness. All these fabulous artist are just as good or better than many bands who live in mansions and, but it is a tuff grind. But, our rewards will come on the day of judgment…. Thx for your content!
@@christianrockmusiccollective Thks for your reply, but I just wanted to emphasize that it was also a ministry. We always had a call to accept the Lord at the end of every show and witnessed to many people. Again, I appreciate your response 🙏
Red and Stryper yes! If you have not heard of them yet check out Jacobs Dream. You will have to type in Jacobs Dream Band in the search to bring them up. Take a listen and see what you think.
Great video! New Christian here that has always loved metal, but secular music isn't doing it for me like it used to. Just subscribed! I look forward to more videos
Thanks for the recomendations. My favorite is also Theocracy with Signum Regis a very very close second. In fact, their last album "Undivided" is epic and better than Theocracy's last two albums. The two you promote here are the best of Theocracy though all their stuff is epic.
Bloodgood! My favorite song of theirs is "Crucify", with "Alone in Suicide" as second. Good mention! Curious what your opinion on the band Tourniquet is
HolyName’s watchword is preachcore, and their self-described sound of “holy drone violent worship” makes a lot of sense when you hear their songs. The new album is essentially a love letter to Christ and a tribute to the history of eastern orthodoxy.
I salute EVERY Christian rock/metal band for spreading the message to those who otherwise may not hear the Truth! However, no band has done more in that regard than Stryper. Thank you for sharing you I never heard of theocracy and I’m enjoying their sound!
@@THRASHMETALFUNRIFFS I'm not going to act like an expert, but if you would like to analyze some arguments and evidence for Christianity, I would recommend the channel Wise Disciple. I'm sure that there are many other resources, and I could list some reasons, if you would want me to, but as I said, I'm no expert, and oftentimes neither are many Christian bands, who more often speak to the ethos and moral aspects of Christianity which are often themes of music generally, as opposed to the more logically rigorous side of debating evidence and proofs.
Red and POD are two of my four favorite bands of all time. This is coming from a big Nu Metal fan. While i grew up on Stryper and Bloodgood, et al, and definitely have mad respect, now i would definitely include some POD and Love and Death on the list.
I see you mentioned Roxx, bro you should check out a brand new band on their roster called “Transcendent”. Debut album drops July 26, and they have released their first single called “Free Your Soul” The video is on Roxx’s channel..super great 👍
Phineas is amazing especially their last album Also you would probably love Set for the Fall they are not as well known but really great! God Bless brother
Top 3 I listen to and like for sure. 4 and 5 I’ve never heard of. Red is a favorite as well. You should check out Demon Hunter, 9 lashes, Decyfer down, pillar, Narnia, Thousand foot Krutch, Alter Bridge, Manafest is kind of a cross between rap and hard rock/metal. And I’m sure you’ve heard of one of my all time favorites. Skillet.
First of all my favourite christian metal band is Tourniquet, i dont know if you are knowing them but their drummer sadly passed away during the last couple of years so i dont know if there is anything coming from them soon..(he was the main writer of the music), then its the youtube channel -deus metallicus- where they have very good christian praise music in the style of heavy simphonic metal... ceep on rocking!!
Oh no! I did not hear this! So sad! They were also one of my favorite bands too. Sad to hear about the original lead singer leaving the band, to the opposite of what he WAS doing with Tourniquet. Like he pulled a Vengeance Rising lead singer there. And now this?! Too young. He was the heart and soul of the group. VERY gifted drummer indeed.
@@leeforex8441what guy Ritter left coz he became an atheist? Always wondered why he left he was so good on first 2 albums, luke Easter just wasn't the same

Check out Randy Rose's (not to be confused with RR from The Residents) album, 'Sacrificium' from 1991and the follow-up, 'Healing', under the band name, Rose from 1993.
Saint, Sacred Warrior, Veni Domine,, Believer and Place Of Skulls for me. Not necesarilly my style but Mortification's 'Scroll Of The Megilloth' is one gem of a death metal album. Shame that none of their subsequent releases lived up to it.
100% spot on about Theocracy! I’ve been listening to them ever since their debut and have never been disappointed. Their latest, Mosiac, is no exception.
red sounds a bit like a watered down bullet for my valentine....theocracy is by far my fav band mat's voice is stellar and the band is so progressive and head banging....great stuff....
I can't listen to Red for long. There music is DEPRESSING. There is a spirit about them that plunges me into the depths of despair. No weak Christian should listen for long LOL! It's the music style they play. They're probably great guys. Just gets me into a funk. Their talent is exceptional and I do appreciate the music. It is very, very good. Just one cup of coffee per day....
Good taste, brother, I love all those bands. Chaotic Resemblance is the natural sucessor to Stryper. Check out the world wide phenomenon: Wytch Hazel!!!
"Place of skulls" is my favorite Christian metal band. But that's it. I haven't found any other Christian band that I like. So please help me. I've been looking for so long for bands that sound more like black sabbath, or stoner rock.
There’s a lot out there. But I have a pretty limited knowledge of some of the earlier stuff. I found a bunch by searching Christian Metal Bands on RUclips.
Puzzled as to how a multi-dimensional metal band like Mortification, which went into the areas where a band like Stryper wouldn't venture into, was overlooked. Bands like Rez Band, Barnabas,Saint,Barren Cross paved the road for many.
The band that got me into Christian metal was Mortification. I didnt even know they were a Christian band, i just bought the album because i loved the album cover. Now 30 years later, Christian Metal is 99 percent of what i listen to.
Love this video. You’ve given me a lot of great suggestions that I’m going to check out. My top five metal bands are as follows with an honorable mention. 1. Stryper these guys after all these are cranking out great music and heavier than the stuff they cranked out in the eighties. Love that stuff as well. 2. Skillet I saw these guys live and they are amazing. 3. Bride. They’ve put some great music that is along the lines of their earlier albums before kinetic Faith. 4. Bloodgood. I’ve always loved these guys. 5. Sacred Warrior. I love all their albums. Honorable mentions for me Whitecross, Barren Cross, Shout, Guardian with Jamie Rowe as the lead singer, Rage Of Angels, Deliverance, Tamplin, Ken Tamplin, Holy Soldier with Steven Patrick as the lead singer, Fireflight, and a local group from Tampa Florida that never made it big but rocked called St Warren. Die Happy, and Vengeance Rising before Roger Martinez turned satanist.
1 Stryper 2 Deliverence 3 Barren Cross 4 Bloodgood 5 Whitecross Favorite album extraction from mortality - Believer Just bought Theocracy - mosaic. Very impressive. I might have to put them in my top five.
@@christianrockmusiccollective It makes it MUCH easier on your audience to reference them even AFTER watching the video. I watched the whole video but didn't write them all down (almost no one does)...so to see the Top 5, I had to either skim through the whole video or read through the transcript. Nobody wants, or has time for, all that.
I thought when i became Christian I was going to have to give up generas of music I actually liked. Thank you for this video! I'm going to enjoy getting to add to my library Edit: this comment section is a gold mine I am having a *great* day
This old man loves Disciple I've seen the 3 times live. I met Stryper in the early 1980s when I applied to be a roadie for them. Didn't get the job not enough experience.
Your video was suggested by RUclips - go figure. Probably because of my long time recent series on my Christian rock/metal vinyl collection. New subscriber here. My channel covers a lot of Christian music, but also typical mainstream bands too, just an fyi.
Great choices! When i hear rankings nowadays, almost never hear the OGs called out. I was into Saint, Barren Cross, Bride, Believee, Deliverence, Demon Hunter, Stavesacre. But i also love newer stuff. The thing that bothers me is the lack of any kind of bridge or connection from the true OG Christian metal beginning to now where they are all over the place,on secular labels. No altar calls or pamphlet. No true ministry of any kind. And no acknowledgment of the origins. I could never pick 5......ever. Great video bro. Blessings!

Check out the Christian Metal Band Deep as Bones. They are currently in the studio recording their 2nd release. Great hooks and groove.
I'm surprised that Deliverance wasn't on your list. Deliverance is totally Awesome!! Definitely check these guys out! Great Christian thrash/speed metal band! ✌️
I just can’t get into them. I know a lot of people love them though.
Dude, they are my number 1. Jimmy Brown does it all. Every album is different.
Chipped beef. what a treat...
Theocracy and stryper are definitely a few of my favorites. Matt Smith writes some of the most epic stuff. Love good, biblically sound songs.
missing ur further petra unboxings

@@christianrockmusiccollective "!"
What about deliverance, tourniquet, Holy soldier
I’ve tried to like Deliverance…
Deliverance is the band that got me into Christian metal. And I always liked the vocabulary lessons I got from listening to Tourniquet.
@@christianrockmusiccollective ohhhhh. Their first albums are the best. Didn't like anything after Weapons of our Warfare until I heard Hear What I Say!
How about Eternal Decision? Not sure what happened to them, but man they could jam.
I love your included Chaotic Resemblance, their lyrics are the bomb. And my top 5 are:
Stryper, Blooodgood, Disciple, Chaotic Resemblance and Theocracy.
I just can’t do the screaming,
I am the same!
I can’t imagine how difficult it was for the early pioneers but I thank God for you all!
About time for a Christian rock channel!
Curious what your opinion on the band Tourniquet is
They are OK.
HolyName’s watchword is preachcore, and their self-described sound of “holy drone violent worship” makes a lot of sense when you hear their songs. The new album is essentially a love letter to Christ and a tribute to the history of eastern orthodoxy.
Agree on Chatic Resemblance! But dont forget Disciple and Bride!
Can’t do bride. Disciple is gonna be on a different video.
@@ironmanaxe6140 Disciple got their name from that awesome Slayer song!
Bride is up there too
Can’t into them.
@@christianrockmusiccollective Nope. Don't like Bride. I remember their "garage band" album(s): Monkey See Monkey Do...Terrible LOL!
I salute EVERY Christian rock/metal band for spreading the message to those who otherwise may not hear the Truth!
However, no band has done more in that regard than Stryper. Thank you for sharing you I never heard of theocracy and I’m enjoying their sound!
"Truth" requires some semblance of PROOF, bruh... at least one teeny shred of PROOF anywhere?!
Love heavy metal thank you Jesus for metal bands christian brother you are doing a great job Jesus bless you
Great stuff thanks bro. Be Blessed.
I have that Stryper album cover on vinyl, such a good album
Red and POD are two of my four favorite bands of all time. This is coming from a big Nu Metal fan. While i grew up on Stryper and Bloodgood, et al, and definitely have mad respect, now i would definitely include some POD and Love and Death on the list.
Theocracy is so good! My favorites are (in no particular order) War of Ages, Becoming the Archetype, Convictions, Impending Doom and living sacrifice
I see you mentioned Roxx, bro you should check out a brand new band on their roster called “Transcendent”. Debut album drops July 26, and they have released their first single called “Free Your Soul” The video is on Roxx’s channel..super great 👍
Disciple, Mortification, Living Sacrifice, For Today and Spoken.
Yes, Living Sacrifice! Bruce is a BEAST!!!
Phineas is amazing especially their last album
Also you would probably love Set for the Fall they are not as well known but really great!
God Bless brother
Saint - Too late for Living / Time's End
Shout - It won't be Long / In your Face
Sacred Warrior - First 3 CDs
Impellitteri - Almost everything
Top 3 I listen to and like for sure. 4 and 5 I’ve never heard of. Red is a favorite as well. You should check out Demon Hunter, 9 lashes, Decyfer down, pillar, Narnia, Thousand foot Krutch, Alter Bridge, Manafest is kind of a cross between rap and hard rock/metal. And I’m sure you’ve heard of one of my all time favorites. Skillet.
You’ve gotta check out Chaotic Resemblance.
Yes and he also wrote and recorded most of the guitar stuff as well as drums, dude was so talented
@@leeforex8441what guy Ritter left coz he became an atheist? Always wondered why he left he was so good on first 2 albums, luke Easter just wasn't the same
Ted kirpatrick
@@lincthomas7178 I mean, I should say I was not there myself to witness it so it IS 2nd hand knowledge, so just keep that in mind. So it's just what I heard. I wish I could remember what the source was where I heard it from. Sorry...
Shekinah by Saving Grace gets me so pumped bro, they're an amazing band too. Great for the gym
Thank you. Gonna check out a couple of those. For me it's stryper, deliverance, tourniquet, holy soldier, sacrament
red sounds a bit like a watered down bullet for my valentine....theocracy is by far my fav band mat's voice is stellar and the band is so progressive and head banging....great stuff....
Stryper, Guardian (if they’re categorized as metal and not melodic hard rock) Whitecross, Deliverance, Impellitterri.
Rez is on my Rock video.
The band that got me into Christian metal was Mortification. I didnt even know they were a Christian band, i just bought the album because i loved the album cover. Now 30 years later, Christian Metal is 99 percent of what i listen to.
Have you ever listened to Barnabus? SO good. And true pioneers of heavy Christian music.
Honorable mentions for me
Whitecross, Barren Cross, Shout, Guardian with Jamie Rowe as the lead singer, Rage Of Angels, Deliverance, Tamplin, Ken Tamplin, Holy Soldier with Steven Patrick as the lead singer, Fireflight, and a local group from Tampa Florida that never made it big but rocked called St Warren. Die Happy, and Vengeance Rising before Roger Martinez turned satanist.
What, no Newsboys?😅
On a more serious note, what are your thoughts on Tourniquet? They were quirky before quirky became mainstream.
Never could quite take to them.
@@christianrockmusiccollective Fair enough. They're definitely a bit of an acquired taste.
Saw tourniquet play at a church in the 90s.
1 Stryper
2 Deliverence
3 Barren Cross
4 Bloodgood
5 Whitecross
Favorite album extraction from mortality - Believer
Just bought Theocracy - mosaic. Very impressive. I might have to put them in my top five.
Good run-down thank you! Check out Demon Hunter!
Dude I love red so much.. I think they have an awesome sound, even though they have gotten pretty hard. Be praying for all of you
So glad Stryper got a deserved spot,
but no Vengeance Rising? or Australia's own Mortification?
We all enjoy what we enjoy!
Why didn’t you list them all under the video title expansion? Or did I miss it somehow?
It would be a bit of a spoiler if I did.
@@michaelyolch79 I get it. I’m sorry. I try to do what’s best for the channel overall.
@@christianrockmusiccollective So, just so I understand, you're essentially employing shady tactics to force more watch time?
@@michaelyolch79 ha ha. It isn’t shady to want people to watch the video. I don’t use clickbait. Don’t be a troll man. Let’s just have fun.
I thought when i became Christian I was going to have to give up generas of music I actually liked.
Thank you for this video! I'm going to enjoy getting to add to my library
Edit: this comment section is a gold mine I am having a *great* day
Thank you for this.
This old man loves Disciple I've seen the 3 times live.
I met Stryper in the early 1980s when I applied to be a roadie for them. Didn't get the job not enough experience.
I think Tourniquet is the best Christian Metal band out there, especially after Like Easter tookover on vocals.
Does Neil Morse Band not meet your criteria for some reason?
Just not in my top five. There’s way more than five amazing bands.
Your video was suggested by RUclips - go figure. Probably because of my long time recent series on my Christian rock/metal vinyl collection. New subscriber here. My channel covers a lot of Christian music, but also typical mainstream bands too, just an fyi.
Really appreciate it. I’ve heard of you before!
I think you can't leave out Holy Soldier or the Brave
You should listen and check out Mortification, Deliverance, Demon Hunter, Tourniquet, Living Sacrifice and more
I’ve heard of all of them. Just not my cup of tea. BUT, I am very thankful for them! So many options for believers.
Blessings!
Chaotic Resemblance does altar calls. Their concerts are amazing.
@@christianrockmusiccollective very cool. Pretty much all the bands you mentioned did.
Red sounds really good. Should be higher on the list haha. War of ages! Amazing
Stryper is there I agree. There is also Baren Cross and White Cross, for those of us older folks.
I also forgot One Bad Pig.
Classic: 5. Messiah Prophet 4. Vengeance (Rising) (live at corerstone as flowers of power) 4. White Cross (saw live once) 3. Saint 2. Barren Cross (saw them live 5 times) 1. Leviticus HM: Stryper (I saw them live 7 times)
Semi-modern: 5. Pillar 4. Skillit 3. Sent By Ravens 2. Thousand Foot Krutch 1. RED HM: Demon Hunter
Modern: No clue. I haven't listened to the christianrock stream in a decade to hear the latest.
