    I heard Schenker for the first time in 1976 when I was 14. I got U.F.O.'s "Phenomenon" and "Force It". The "Force It" album is one of the greatest metal shredding guitar tutorials of the 1970's. W the exception of Judas Priest, listen to any Brit metal band of the 80's and you'll hear Schenker's influence because U.F.O. played all over England in the 70's. But Michael was so self destructive that had he not gotten clean when he did, he would not be with us today.

    Why would Michael even know who you were? He was overwhelmed with UFO being so big, excess touring, the English language, etc. Yeah, he had been touring since he was 17? It's nice that you were sane enough to be persuasive enough to help him not get killed. Michael Schenker is a treasure to all guitarists; yes, he needed a handler. Add to that a wife and kid(s). Oh yeah, and the guys you love, who you're touring with are blowing all the money you're working so hard for up their noses and on astronomical cab fares to get the young babes home. Read the late Pete Way's, Fast Ride Out of Here." I'm 63 and was never a rock star but I can't explain our attitude when we partied. As DLR said on VH 1st LP, "...I lost a lot of friends there baby, ain't got no time to mess around." Michael skipped gigs. He admitted he had stage fright. Can you imagine? The guy practically grew up on a stage. But I saw UFO in 75 and yes, at the end of the show they all fell down. One of the purist, had his own voice, rock guitarists to ever live. In search of the peace of mind. Thanks for the post.

      That was me in the 90's growing up in that decade where grunge, alternative rock, Britpop and nu metal were everywhere. Metal was dead (it wasn't, it just went underground), shred guitar was like an endangered animal existing only on highly protected conservation areas and flamboyant stage shows, hair and costumes were a thing of the past.
      I was that lone kid in high school still listening to Van Halen, Alice Cooper, Skid Row, Guns N' Roses, LA Guns and of course Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Saxon. Sure, I got ridiculed for it and I had nobody but I still enjoyed it all myself and kept it going, even to this day.

LA Guns, Raging Slab, Kix “Cold Blood”, Bulletboys (I still don’t know how Marq Torien hit those notes), Queensryche “Eyes of a Stranger” (I still don’t know how Geoff Tate hit those notes), Guns, Jane’s Addiction, Little Caesar, Dangerous Toys, Living Colour, Love and Rockets, Metallica, Tom Petty, The Mats, and on and on. It was a special time. And several bands who nobody would even acknowledge a few years later had some absolutely amazing songs. Cinderella “Comin’ Home”, Poison “Talk Dirty To Me”, “Love On the Rocks”. Had The Stones or the Sex Pistols written those songs, people would say it was some of the best work they’ve ever done. 🚫 Well, I'm calling total B.S. on Blackie's claims about the joyride Michael took them on, and here's why: Blackie said that "Michael took us for a ride in his 4-door GTO", which is impossible, considering that there were NO 4-door GTO's, and NO OTHER 4-door muscle cars from the 60s and early 70s! GTO's were ALWAYS 2-door coupes. The reality is that 4-door American cars were family sedans, and 2-door coupes were the preferred models of single, young people. Nobody under 50 without a family wanted a 4-door sedan, unless you were a taxi driver!
      There were a tiny handful of special order 4-door cars with high performance drivetrains, which were exceptions to the "no 4-door muscle car rule". But they were usually extremely rare examples special ordered by dealers for themselves, or for dealership employees. Most people were completely unaware that you could special order 4-door family sedans with high performance drivetrain packages anyway. They are extremely rare, and I doubt Michael had one, and even if he did, it was NOT a GTO.

    Interesting how Blackie stated his dislike of re-recording stuff yet he re-recorded The Crimson Idol which is regarded as a rock opera masterpiece and took out all the profanity of it, ultimately losing the vibe first time around and well...the spontaneity of it. To tell you the truth, I only bought the re-recording because of the movie.
    As for Michael Schenker, he is one of the greatest rock/metal guitarists of all time but is also well known for his erratic and tempestuous personality.

    • @SKRooU2
      @SKRooU2 2 года назад +3

      @vinaymulukutla358 2 года назад +2

      @@SKRooU2 Known for what? Please elaborate. I am not really bothered by Blackie's conversion so much but taking out the profanity of that record on the re-recording somewhat atrophied the effect and expression of that story making the re-recording rather unnecessary and the fact that he now doesn't swear on stage sort of makes his performances come off as watered down and contrived.
      W.A.S.P. through Blackie's vision were a band who made their living out of pissing off the moral majority and sticking their middle finger at organisations like the PMRC. You went to a W.A.S.P. show and bought their albums to get shocked, therefore to see them shed that shock element due to Blackie's change in faith has made them become a total antithesis of what they once were, the one thing that they rebelled against.
