I always liked Mr.Holmes playing. It’s sad that no one was able to say “ hey man, great night!” He was a very underrated guitarist. The man can play !!!!
Yes and really down to earth too lot of respect for Chris Holmes
I fucking love Chris. He's a goddamn doofus, but such a cool dude. He's been a hero of mine since 1985.
Hey Chris, you did do a good job on those W.A.S.P. albums.
I heard a slightly different version of the Motorhead story. Chris said he asked Lemmy if he could join the band, and Lemmy said no. Told Chris he was too crazy for Motorhead. Imagine being too crazy for Motorhead.
For whatever it's worth folks, I played with Chris as his drummer on projects for a major part of the 90's and early 2000's. Chris is the real deal. No BS.
Yeah he's the real fucking deal !! #TheMeanManRulz
You ever get any credit for playing drums with chris you still playing drums
I've got a autograph ticket stub from him from the headless children tour....my buddy Chris got it for me in Wisconsin....
I'm so glad Chris got cleaned up and has his life together. Of all the people from that era that probably should have already been gone most would have thought Chris at the top of the list. Randy Rhoads inspired me Chris Holmes squeezed my fuckin nuts and made me grab an axe and play. I love that dude and you giving him a voice is epic. You are the BEST INTERVIEWER OF THE SCENE HANDS DOWN. Jason Green does a nice 2nd. As a Texas native I salute you Full in Bloom.
I agree Chris is doing well and that’s great cause in a world of so much shit we still have Chris and Full in Bloom keeping us up on information I’d never have known about , Great post bro.. :)
Always believed chris was horribly underrated Guitar Player
Got that right. He was never the most progressive player but you can hear him developing through those first 4 albums (Live... not included) and his fluidity through position changes is amazing. Unique tone too, which is always the hallmark of a great player. I'm sure the set-ups were pretty simple but Chris and Randy had really great, thick, detailed tones that I haven't heard since. Restless Gypsy is the pinnacle for me - still does it for me even though I bought the album when it was first released.
I love his guitar playing but get real he is not at all under rated !! Haha hes not even a good player wierdos
Meh. He's OK. I can't think of solo that he did that stands out. To each their own.
@@MrOctober44 He’s not Randy Rhoads or EVH but Chris is a good player . I Don’t Need No Doctor that’s a good solo and great tone imo .
He Stinks and his Wife thinks he's a Star he's a nobody
"I hope the neighbours think it's me".....hahaha. Great one, Chris !!!! 😂
Ikr! Such a fab ending to this awesome interview!! Rotf! 😁😂😀
Man! you've been able to pull some real nuggets of gold from Chris, this is the most detail I've heard him go into about early W.A.S.P stuff. I personally think Sarah has been able to nail him down on his memories of time lines and stuff...... Possibly for memoires or a biography? Hope so!
Prayers for Chris. Hoping he gets better.
Great interview exactly what we have been waiting for great to hear Chris
Great interview! Gotta love Chris. A true survivor.
Love these stories and love Chris Holmes. Thank you!
Chris is very generous with his time and of sharing information. This is a great Interview series. Hoping there are Parts 4 / 5 / 6 in the pipeline!!
Great Interview , always liked Chris Holmes.
Chris is so awesome. He keeps it real. Thank you for bringing us the interviews!
Incredible interview with a living legend. I've got nothing but the utmost respect for Chris.
Fantastic 👏 these interviews are priceless and will go down in history. Back stories to my favorite bands will never make mainstream stories. You're the best keepnup the good work 👏
Great interview 👍🏻
Chris is a likable guy and a straight shooter! Love your interviews and how you ask about what gear used, recording technics etc. Keep up the great work!
Chris is awesome. Would listen to him talk all day
Love all the interviews but the WASP ones are my faves. I can listen about 80s Wasp all the time. Great work.
One crazy SOB! Love listening to this dude! Great stuff! PS, Love Machine is a bad ass song imo.
Hat tip! - The best interview with Chris I ever heard! I met Chris years ago when he was rehearsing at Store More rehearsal studios ( in Rosemead CA) with his band Buster Savage. Years later I'd see him pictured in a huge WASP poster in Hollywood. Very humble, down to earth guy. - Definitely one of my local guitar influences.
Chris sounds the best I have heard him in decades. I am sure his wife has really helped him. Keep on keeping on.
Was never a huge wasp fan but this is one of the coolest and honest of these interviews I've heard keep bringing it love the stories
Thanks for listening, Harold.
Chris is honest and funny. Thank you
Great interview man! This channel is awesome 🤘
Love these interviews! You get the interviewee to open up like no other and recall memories that without specific targeted questions would surely never hear the light of day! Great to hear Chris's perspective and that he's doing well! 🙌👍💪🤘
Such a cool comment. Thank you, Mark. That means a lot.
Chris is probably the only “rock star” from the 1980s I’d like to meet. WASP and MOTLEY CRUE were my gateway into heavy metal.
I’ll be 51 in a few months, tho my age hasn’t changed my love of metal
Animal and Show No Mercy.
Still have my copies.
Black, White and Green vinyls.
Great audio quality on those pressings.
What a cool honest sounding guy with a heart of gold loved this REAL interview!! Chris Holmes seems to be a true blue in ya face tell it like it was cat. I have grown such a new respect for Chris and in spite of ALL the crap he had to deal with playing in a band with Blackie Braless pun intended Chis is tops in my book!! Great fkin' job brother Chris!!
Great interview of a real rock legend . Big influence on me in the eighties
Glad you enjoyed it. Did you also listen to Parts 1 & 2?
The Headless Children solos sound like Iommi's on steroids to me! Love the 4 layer guitar solos!
Thank you for this upload!
I love his work on that album. I always considered him a fair to middling player before that. He truly stepped up his game on that.
Chris is a true metal legend!!!
It's cool to hear Chris talk about WASP.
Chris Holmes forever!
A true Metal beast
Love Holmes. My 2nd concert: Raven, Slayer, Wasp. I was 12 years old. Life changing.
Blackie sounds just like Paul Stanley & Gene. Tight ass bastards. I don't care what state he is in. Chris Holmes and Tony Richards we're part of the first & best 2 albums.
Chris sounds so good! Healthy!
The image of that 12" sleeve for Fuck Like a Beast brings back memories. I remember buying it from the local record shop in the UK. Good times.
I can’t go on the cruise but I’m going to see him in Toronto in May.
Out of all the rock stars Chris Holmes is who I'd like to meet because he sounds like he's really down to earth dude
Hell yeah. I mean shit, dude still has his classic Jacksons!
Glad to hear Chros got help! Last I saw he was living in a on room hotel and he was in bad shape and didnt hear about him after that... trying to sell a shitty old Camero for booze. Lots of good music back then so many Hits! Animal was a game changer pushing the envelope! 🤘😎🤘
i saw wasp at the lyceum.. holmes was a beast on stage .. like a wild lion!..
i was 5 rows back, middle, holmes side..
What a cool dude Chris is!! You have a killer channel, my friend!!
Thank you for listening!
I have a friend that is very good friends with chris, played drums for him he has some great stories
His voice reminds me of an old man I used to know that was an alcoholic and a heavy cigarette smoker. Great interview, though. It's sad what these guys went through to make it.
Well if Blackie never said it, then I’m gonna say it Chris, you did great out there man.
I love Chris! He was awesome back in the day. And he was a f’ing babe.
We love it on 10!
I didn't know they got the drummer from Iron Maiden, damn, Good job Blackie.
Just heard all 3 interviews...what amazing trivia here. Chris sounds like a way cool dude .. I have no idea he lived in Cannes !
Did anybody like Blackie ??? goodness! 😆
Blackie likes Blackie. Like, a LOT. :D
11:30 Not a bad idea Chris. Ditch the knobs for a single 2 way toggle for us guys who have everything dimed all the time. I can dig it
@11:20 classic. You start on 10, you play on 10 and you finish on 10..goodnight!
I hope someday there is a Rig Rundown of his gear.
W.A.S.P was cooler than they got credit for. They were a kickass band. I feel like they got undeservingly discarded as just a silly 80s "satanic metal" band by the masses but they had really rad songs. I hold their debut album up to high regard. Very cool band. Blackie had cool damn vocals and Hellion will forever be a badass song!
for sure the star of Decline part 2
Amazing.
2:43 - Blackie Lawless stars in “The Room.”
I dont think anybody told chris that the guy that does the arrangements doesnt get paid, usually the dude that writes the lyric and the melody steals all the money
Chris keeps it Real , Love It..: Making Money and making Music.. :)
Won of my favorite
Chris guitar playing brought a lot to WASP.
No Chris, no WASP.... it's just the Blackie Lawless show....
Mean Man !!
I Wanna Bee Somebody!!!
No doubt, drinking and playing don't mix.
Chris holmes is so rock and roll i love this guy he rules fuk what the neighbors think
I love that guy Chris he’s awesome man!
Chris D
I love Chris .. awesome guitarist… sad he and blackie had their issues 😞
Fist time I ever heard a wife in the background during an interview, giving commands on how much longer.
As much as I love Blackie's voice and songwriting this guy seems to have such a big ego to say the least. I'm glad Chris played the way he wanted to play in "The headless children" album this album has a sick guitar tone,it is my all time favorite wasp album.
I agree.but, at the time they came out, it was such a literal meat grinder for those LA bands, it makes sense that Lawless would be a major control freak when it came to the band, and it’s sound. WASP is one of the only LA bands that had nothing in common with the rest of the LA scene. The only other would be Slayer, who were smart enough to head to the Bay Area.
When it comes to making something like a band go from local to international, you have to be an asshole. Look to Mustaine. He is still a major dictator when it comes to Megadeth, and it’ll never change. And this attitude has made him metal royalty.
Also, check out my version of Hold on to my heart!

@@allendean9807 that’s not true. Blackie and mustaine are narcissists. And they never got as big as bands like Metallica and Pantera who had members that weren’t a holes. Being a narcissistic jerk holds you back cause your defective personality holds back your art as the art is never better than the person.
@@smkxodnwbwkdns8369 perhaps, but i look at the result of their drive, over their possible/probable character flaws- if Mustaine hadn’t been as driven to create the best metal band, there’d be not Mensa/Friedman lineup.
And I’ll have to disagree with you about Metallica, respectfully. Jason Newsted is one of the nicest guys in the world. I had the opportunity to hang with him on occasion just before he got the Metallica gig. We took a couple rafting trips in Northern California, as Flotsam were courting Michael Spencer. That band treated Newsted horribly, because they could. But one could argue that abuse led to the creation of greatness…. All musicians with large sales recordings are driven to the point of ego which separates them from those who do not have those sales. I’ve met countless fantastic musicians, heard amazing songs, which went nowhere. That ego, that drive can often mean the difference between an album no one hears to a Rust in Peace.
@@allendean9807 Jason was a big geek who wouldn’t stop behaving like an over-excited fanboy and they hazed him for it. Was it abuse, probably, but I wouldn’t paint that with the same brush as what Dave Mustaine is which is a narcissistic *** with little integrity. Metallica had a great reputation as nice and generous people who were anti-rock star ego-such as the punk scene was at the time-and helped a lot of people. Conversely blackie has hurt a lot of people and only cares about himself. No one says that about Metallica or a number of big bands. My point is the philosophy that you have to be a selfish a hole to be successful is wrong. In fact there’s evidence it holds you back. You can make it in spite of personality defects but it’s better to be nice.
@@allendean9807 being driven and ambitious doesn’t necessarily mean you are selfish and mean-spirited. Way bigger bands than wasp and megadeth are fronted by decent virtuous humans that are kind and generous, but also ambitious.
Blackie and Yngwie would be a cool collaboration.
19:30 blackie if this album is to heavy 😂😂😂i cant honestly say the headless children has got to be my favorite
Was that Chris's wife in the background saying "10 minutes more?"
Yes.
Blackie wishes he was half the man that Chris is!
"The whole song from start to finish" - LOL
Chris playing guitar while on a Harley would have been so badass in the I Wanna Be Someone video.
Chris is an awesome fella, good turn and your basic party guy. He certainly has his own sound though, it's a stretch to say he's brilliant or under-rated cause he's not. An under-rated guitarist is Mars.
Wasp are my favourite band Chris likes to throw mud at blackie which is one sided. Blackie has never said anything bad about Chris.
He starts his amp on 10. He plays on 10. Then he finishes on 10. Apparently, he didn't know there was an amp that went to 11. lol
Francis Ford Coppola did The Outsiders.
Chris was referring to the producer. Francis Ford Coppola was the director.
Chris Homeless!
Chris has the coolest stories, what rock stars use to be.
Did this guys say he never drank before a show??
No way the Love Machine video cost $200K.
Another Blackie scam?
we do a lot of projecting out on stage def leppard - live; Megadeth whatever the peck it was.
WASP 2023 dublin ireland - fuck yeah!!!
I truly believe Blackie Lawless is all of the jerk he is described as being, but we’re talking about the band WASP. They were never a crazy successful band. The money the other guys think they’ve been cheated out of is probably far less in reality. Most artists of this era made next to no money on album sales for the first couple of records because of the deals they signed. Streaming has killed any chances of significant income for artists these days and for the foreseeable future. But...I’d be pissed, too. It’s just human nature
Chris Holmes made WASP as far as Im concerned! He was the saw blade...bitch please.
opiates are fun in the beginning and the key word is beginning after a couple months it's you boss and runs your life so if you read this and haven't tried them then don't it really sucks when the fun is over, the illness the money and relationships suffer and when you are broke your friends go away I was lucky to not lose my job and get help and I made that choice for myself otherwise I'm not making this comment but probably in prison or dead I had a friend that got 2 years in San Quentin for getting fake prescriptions because his wife stole the doctors prescription pad and would write them and he would pick them up until the cops were waiting for him one time.I know doctors prescribed them so don't start abusing them after a surgery because the next step is heroin after the pills are gone and you are addicted to them.
if you get truly addicted , you will get 20 hours of misery for every hour of feeling good . It is NOT worth it
wow, chris holmes was getting paid abt the same in WASP as I was working at McDonalds the same year 84 $120/ wk apprx as I listened to Love Machine on the radio
This is your lowball, this is you Whoooo!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again if you think you’re going to top full in bloom for best RUclips music interview channel rock ‘n’ roll heavy-metal you are sorely mistaken.
Chris Holmes was too trusting a very down to earth he is probably the kind of person who if he made millions would still be down to earth and generous it's a shame he was taken advantage of.
5th dui by 1984
chris holmes sounds like chris farley haahaha so simple n cool. blackie pay the man!!!!!
Chris was a mess! Chris was a mad genius on the guitar!
I have 5 DUI’s
Shitting Bricks is an album which will grow on ya
