I live in LA. The OG location was phenomenal. The ENTIRE UPSTAIRS was blu-rays, DVDs, etc. As amazing as the new store is, it's a fraction of the size.
I have yet to visit the new location. I try to stay out of LA. Amoeba was cool when I used to go. I miss The Warehouse. There is an FYE near me, but I haven't been in a while.
@@luckyduck1985 Closure is what has happened to MOST brick-and-mortar retail - Amazon and Walmart have replaced them. The last three years under Covid-19 lockdown have sped up the process.
I went to Ameoba a decade ago when I was on vacation in LA! They had brand new music on vinyl and cassettes, which was the beginning of their comeback that time! I bought a handful of DVDs and blu rays back in 2013 from that store!
It was cool to see you and Daisuke together as well as the video Daisuke made with you at the store. Really cool to see what all you picked up. Hope you’re doing well and have a great day!
Awesome man! It’s been so fun following you since COVID you were my RUclips buddy during remote work and parallel my own journey into home theatre/movie stuff I have always loved movies but I needed a project during the shutdown so I built a theatre and sharing your enthusiasm via your channel was a life saver. Applaud your success and continuing this stuff with kids that’s not easy 😅
What a great hookup from Todd wow. I loved the old amobea store, i would love to go back to the new one. So many good days spent finding treasures there .
Amoeba is an amazing store. I used to go many times a year when i lived in California. Next time you go, they will ship your order home. I went to their original location in 2019 and they shipped my order to my home in Pennsylvania
Dude this is so crazy. I was at Amoeba last Thursday the same day you were there. I must have missed you but it's crazy to think I almost met one of my fav youtubers.
Thats awesome man! Sounds like a great time! Id be lost in that place for days, 😂 And I'd be totally broke! But extremely happy!😂 Nice purchases and gifts!!! You lucky dog! Lol. 👍 Excellent cast! ✌️❤️🙂
I lived in LA for 6 years, actually went to school across the street from the Original Amoeba Location on Sunset Bl. It's an amazing store, I grew both my bluray and vinyl collections from there, also found some.out of print shows and movies 😁 I've been a movie collector for 15 years now and started really growing my current bluray collection as a Film Student in LA back in 2011.... love your channel, hope you enjoyed your trip 😁
If you’re ever in SF or Berkeley, there are two other Amoeba locations there! Been there and the SF location has a massive movie selection. I’m from L.A., so I love going to Amoeba!
I live two blocks from Amoeba and purposely avoid that place because I know I would spend money at the blue ray section. I wish you could have seen the old location near the cinerama dome it was amazing
Hey Jeff, what's your opinion on the upcoming Disney 100 animated movie pack on Blue Ray(not 4K), where the 100 movies will be on Only 18 disc for $1500?
I think it’s a $500-$600 set that is being driven up in price by crystal mouse ears. There’s a 57 film set already available on Blu-ray with similar packaging and movies from Snow White to Frozen 2, and it’s under $300.
Not sure why you don’t think Amoeba doesn’t carry 4K discs, they have an entire section devoted to 4K in their video section. I primarily go there for 4K discs all the time. Of course I’m talking about the Hollywood store, not sure about the other two in San Francisco. Cheers!
Disappointing as it's one of rhe biggest releases of the year. Your channel was my go to for an informed choice. Looks like I need to find a new channel.
Hey man, I'm a screenwriter and a fan of your channel and would appreciate if you mention the ongoing strike when you make your paramount lot tour video. Thanks!
Is there enough of a real visual difference between standard Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray titles to make waiting/paying more for their 4K versions worth it? It appears that Amoeba doesn't have much use for 4k Blu-ray because they don't bother to sell them; that alone should be reason enough to keep people, me included, from spending extra dollars on 4k - when regular Blu-ray seems to be all we need to get full enjoyment from our videos.
I live in L.A. and I go to Amoeba all the time for 4K discs. They absolutely sell 4K and there’s an entire section of them in their video section. I personally find there is a difference.
@@CR41489 I was reacting to @Brandonmtlhd's post 17-or-so entries below this one, in which he said that he wished Amoeba sold 4k Blu-ray videos and was disappointed that they didn't - and he, Brandon, made me think that if Amoeba, being as focused on selling Blu-ray movies as they are, don't think the 4k versions are worth selling in their stores, then why should I or anyone else give 4k a second look? Since I posted my comment above last night, you have spoken up to correct my (and as it happens, Brandon's) mistaken belief about Amoeba's not selling 4k Blu-rays - and a second person commented on @Brandonmtlhd's post as well. Thank you for correcting me here. I would like to know how much - and what kind - of a difference do YOU see between these two formats?

I think you might’ve had the most efficient trip ever to Los Angeles. Pretty amazing itinerary for two days!!
A recent creature feature, “No One Will Save You,” was actually great!
The best movie you got was THE HOST!

That's a lot in 48 hrs, but I'm glad you enjoyed your short stay in SoCal. You got some great stuff!
Love Daisuke!! Love Amoeba (Original location +++)!!!!
Excellent stuff, Jeff. You deserved that trip, man.

Congratulations. Wow that must have been a great trip. You got some great movies, I really love Jubal and Nutty Professor
After Tower Records closed in San Diego, we used to make a road trip up to LA once in a while just for Amoeba Records.
I often go to Amoeba in San Francisco in the Haight-Ashbury section. It's an awesome place!
One of the most glorious places on earth that place is, I'm in there all the time

Who would want to go to SF with all the human poop on the street and crime and homelessness?
Seems like a great time!
Next time you ever come to LA check out the new Beverly cinema They only show films on 35MM and it’s right down the street from el coyote !
Sounds like a fun trip

i live about 30 minutes from amoeba great store i go all the time
Jeff, did you have time to go to The New Beverly to see "Badlands?"
Hi jeff didn't know if you had seen there are limited official JAWS posters available from vice press.
Thanks
I use to go to Berkeley and hit the used stores, but haven't gone in ten years do to gas prices.
Awesome video man 😎!
Hey Jeff, have you seen the Jaws 4K Film Vault edition? If not, I highly recommend it! Let me know if you need to find one.
Please review the longest yard on 4K blu ray

@@JeffRauseo Even if the price was much lower, I wouldn't buy 6 movies on 1 disc, that's bad for the bitrate of the movie.
World War Z 4K 😮!!! When did that happen!
That is so cool
You’re killing bro! Keep up the awesome work. Great haul and sounds like a fun trip. How did Amoeba compare to Bull Moose?
Amoeba was Bull Moose on steroids
I was at Amoeba recently. I mainly go there for CD's. It's cool that they have movies too but I wish they had 4k's and not just BD's.

How many 4k titles in you collection ? 🎥💿
Dude, where is your Across the Spiderverse review?!
Just got it, I haven’t been home and I have a lot to review…
@FilmsAtHome movie365 says the audio is mediocre, I find it hard to believe with into the spiderverse 4k bluray being so good

No flash photos, but photos and video were fine. I asked.
Any celebrity run ins?
Daisuke counts! But otherwise, no
I'm loving the collection updates, but my wallet does not ;-)
Thankfully, not everything is available where I live.
