- I make a trip to the big city of LA to visit the new Amoeba Record Store in Hollywood. I check out their selection and pick up a few records myself. I check out some of my favorite artist.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I am extremely thankful for all of you and love sharing records with you.
My thanksgiving was filled with Hockey. I went to a Highschool game on Friday, Saturday I went to another my school had 2 home games and I stayed for the alumni game.that's my thanksgiving.

I can fully relate to your feeling of being overwhelmed in a large record store. This happened to me every time I went to Sonic Boom (in Toronto, Canada, where I'm from) and I found my mind utterly BLANKED from the sheer amount they have. It didn't matter whether I had a mental list or an actual list either, they just have so much that I found it impossible to stick to a list. However, surrendering and browsing without any specifics in mind was also a lot of fun and I came away from my trips there with loads of records I wanted in my collection.

Another thing I forgot to mentioned is that I don’t like that they mix used cds with brand new cds or records so pay attention to what ur buying They need to divide everything for everyone can see what there buying

Thanks for taking us with you to Amoeba. I went to their old store back in June 2015 for my US trip.
Hollywood Blvd brought me so many good memories.

Explosions in the Sky! Such a great band! You should check out Mogwai not sure if you heard of them quite similar. And also another similar band from Sydney Australia sleepmakeswaves.

Man I'm from new york but when I went to cali this store like is one of the best record stores ever so nice and they have alot of good cds
Yes it’s a must stop for music lovers! I can spend hours here. Next time I gotta check out the used section
I don’t drive so I don’t worry about parking but everytime I take the bus is a long drive almost 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic on the street 😅

Amoeba is amazing 🤩 They’re decent with the pricing for vinyl records but they’re still too expensive so that’s why I’m collecting CD’s now and they are much more cheaper.
$100 for ten CD albums vs $100 for three vinyl LP’s.
do you have any special places where youre buying cds? Im finding it hard to find them on ebay where i use to be able to find anything.
@@MonieMuse Check out Rockaway Records that’s by Glendale or Fingerprints Records in Long Beach. :)
But other than that, I feel like not a lot of places carry a lot of CD’s and times like this, I wish Tower Records was still around.

The record store reminds me of ours in the 70s trough the early 2000s, called Record Theatre. Huge place and had the first coffee bar you could hang out and play your music you bought or they had as demos. I practically lived there. I don't know any of your purchases but I know they will sound awesome on your system. Take care you two.

I’m actually surprise a lot of other subscribers have never heard of the records I’ve got. I gotta go in to details about them at some point 😁 thank you again for the Christmas album. I’m working on a new Christmas collection update 😉

No problem. I'm trying to spread Elvis cheer. You would dig that store, it was across from Canisius College,so alot of hippies hung out. They knew me as "The Hippie with a job". Which was rare back then. They always asked for loose change which I had, for the girls only😉

As always enjoyed your stroll in the record store. I do a majority of thrift store record shopping. But they seem to be raising their prices too. Who knows how far this goes. Congratulations on you upcoming new arrival. God bless
Thank you tony! I’m kinda glad I’m not the only one having to go on a tighter budget with records. It’s fun when you can find an awesome record for a low price! Now I’m feeling kinda cheated lol taking advantage of! Lol I think I gotta start looking at those unorganized privately owned thrift stores.
Would be really intersting to visit some day there. Or somewhere else in that huge store.

Thank you for making this video! I’ve been curious about what the store looks like but never really saw a proper video tour until now! But yeah I agree that the new vinyl prices for are getting a little steep now. Hopefully they’ll come down a smidge at some point haha

I use to feel like an imposter at amoeba, just intimidated but this time I felt like I was in my environment haha I know my way around a record store now 😆 yeah the record bubble might bust. Next trip I’m gonna focus on cds.

great vid. i cant wait to visit the new shop. i spend most of my time in the clearance section when im in amoeba. usually find some good stuff cheap. and i agree new vinyl is getting out of hand. $40 for album. remember how much we all complained back in day cause new CDs were almost $20. Now people dont think twice about dropping $40 for vinyl.
Thank you! 🥰 lol yes I couldn’t afford cds back then, I would rely on my friends mix cds. Yeah when I started collecting records they were $20! My taste is about to get super picky. Or maybe I’ll go back to only getting old records. I’m starting to only look out for cds. I just love physical formate and owning my music.
@@MonieMuse yeh i've tried to ease up on vinyl purchases too. just too expensive whereas CDs you can find pretty cheap. I'm with you though I love physical media.

My issue with the large stores is that they are overwhelming. I never know where to start. You really need to have a list of specific albums overwise you can wander for days. Some nice pick ups and yes record prices are getting high and it will have people dropping out of buying records

@@MonieMusewell unless u go there and u know what ur buying already makes the trip easier but I go there a lot so I memorize the whole store to know were everything is at

If $37 is pricey to you...dont ever come here. You would HATE the prices at the record stores here. Damn, I MISS the parking inside the place. That sucks.
No snow lol ever. Missy loves big vocals, I’m more of the “I’m too shy to sing” Kinda voice lol I almost moved to Canada! Vancouver. Yeah my heart breaks at high prices because I’m “stay at home mom poor” .

Hi Monie - Nice Mazzy 🌟 pick up ! Flowers In December is my favorite song on that album. You can probably get that Cure at 🎯 for 5-10 dollars less. If you are in the San Fernando Valley stop at Freakbeat Records which my old boss Bob Say owns. It's a cool shop 😎. Congratulations on baby # 3 - What a nice early Christmas 🎄 gift 👍

Congrats on the new baby! It's hard to keep up with all the new records and they are pretty expensive and that's coming from an old single cat dad. I can't imagine trying to keep up with this hobby when your growing your family. I can't say I know any of the bands or artists that you picked up this go round, but they look interesting. I would like to have that new Springsteen and the E Street band, but, even on CD, it's kind of pricey. Hope your having a Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you! Yes life is getting busy with more children lol but means I need my time away with my records to recharge 😄. Most of the records I picked up are from my early 20s. It’s been hard to back track the music I love. I’m actually not too familiar with music released this year, haven’t really heard of anything that caught my attention.
I’m looking to go there this month! I’m hoping I can find a good parking spot lol. Do they have a movie section specifically blu-rays & 4K blu rays?
We parked around the corner and put money in a meter, they do have a parking lot they recommended, it might say on their website which one to use. I wanna say their dvd section was small, I didn’t get a chance to look, we only had an hour.
Of course they do that’s why it’s a music 🎶 store they sell all physical media even VHS 📼 and laser discs
Parking is under Amoeba😳 I prefer the old Amoeba. Too many new records and not enough used LPs. Their CD collection is good👍👍
Oh yes totally agree, the old store was way better. They had a ton of used stuff and very unique records too.

2. I think you’re on to something, did you ever visit the old location? It was massive with lots of sections of the store to visit.
The new store doesn’t seem as big although the store says it is lol. The USED rock section was small, they had a little spot for jazz, I didn’t see all those different genres they use to have. The store is more one big room.. I think the store is mainly new vinyl now.
I can be wrong and missed a part of the store but that’s why I was at the new vinyl cause I think that’s where they want the customers at.

How far is this store from Rodeo drive, from the Wiskey , Paramount studios, Universal , Warner Bros ect how far from Culver city is the record store?
I see Beatles, Chicago ,
Texas Sun , explosion in the sky , Mazy star , how many stars for those albums out of 5? nicer a lot nicer than amazon?
In California we measure distance by how long it takes to get there, so Amoeba Record store on Hollywood blvd is about 30mins away from all those places, on a bad day 45m. In reality it’s probably only like 10 miles haha the Studios are usually in Burbank.
They have awesome book stores full of books about film making, I haven’t checked out if they have any record stores.
So the albums I bought are all my taste in music, so I give them all 5s! But my husband played Texas Sun and he didn’t like them. So you be the judge lol

I really miss their 1 location it was 3 stories high and had wayyyyyy more space and records it was like being inside a mansion Know the store 🏬 shrunk and it’s really small but either wayyy I’m happy there back in business and selling physical media forever 🤟🤟🤟🤟📀📀💽💽💿💿💿💿
Yeah I prefer their old store, it was more organized . New in the front, used cds in the middle, used records on the sides, jazz in the back, dvds on second floor!

I love Aomeba records that’s my store for life Hollywood and sunset in order to enjoy that store I recommend u take at least $100 cause u gonna spend a lot on that store 🏬 💽💽💽💿💿💿📀📀📀 I love cds for life 🫶🫶🤘🤘🤘🤘
