Whitesnake Still of the Night....
You'll really hear another side of them
The song everyone should react to first to really hear their depth.
I agree
That's my FAVORITE of all their songs 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I think I listened to every whitesnake album they were one of my top 10 bands for a long time
the guitar part 3 mins in. my fav part. I was a sophmore in hs when this song came out. I was OBSESSED with David Coverdale. I don't know if anyone realizes that Tawnie is gone now. She was married to Coverdale.
I had this on cassette tape, and when I went into the army forgot the tape in my mom's car, I was deployed and couldn't call or write her for a while, she later told me that she would listen to this song loud AF and cry because she missed me so bad, she died in 1998 and now I hear it and think about her and cry too.
❤❤❤
Yup was my Moms favorite song, then her mom heard it, and it became her favorite. They would take road trips and jam this and The Beastie Boys "In Sound From The Way Out", their acoustic junt.
Well, now I'm crying, too. ❤
Beautiful memory. Thank you. I lost my Mom and frequently connect to her through music we shared.
that's an awesome mem bro.. apart from your mum having gone...all the best to you
Dave actually married her, Tawny Kitaen in '89. She sadly struggled with substance abuse and passed away at 59 in 2021.
Yes but she died of cancer not drugs. Ann d she had been clean a while. RIP Twany. What a lady ❤
Yes, knew Tawny, she has a beautiful heart.
Have no idea if it's true or not, but I heard, or read, that she was extremely abusive to her men
I didn't know she was gone RIP DARLIN
Sad
Backlit permed hair was the gold standard for 80s videos! 😂
I just did a spit take with my coffee. 🤣
😂😂😂
What upsets me.. some Hair bands didn't get the respect they deserve.. actually many didn't.. great music. and Whitesnake was of the best. And Hair Bands wrote their own music.. I ain't gonna lie.. I was raised on Elvis and Frankie by my parents.. absolutely Iconic voices in our history.. and I love them both.. but they didn't write their own songs.. Hair Bands did... and as a child of the 80's.. this is golden to me.
Same here. We had so many actually good bands, lead singers, guitarists, etc. And, none of them get the props they deserve, simply because they're kinda written off or joked about for being labeled a "hair band." It was like people didn't take their music seriously or give it a chance, all because of the "hair" or "glam" lables.
Next up for Whitesnake: "IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT"... nuff said!!👊😁 Awesome reaction as always!! Peace and light...✌💞
Still of the night is excellent ! My brother was convinced this was going to be an epic band ! He was convinced ! In love with this music
YES..DO IT, DO IT NOW lol..no seriously
its a must
Big FACTS! 💯
Total classics. Bon Jovi is from 83, Whitesnake are from 78, but their vocal David Coverdale sings from Deep Purple from 73 to 76 And with local bands from 66... Almost 60 years career.
Thanks 'Professor of Rock' ❤
Deep purple mk 1. Burn
Everyone had that hair style in Ca.
She was his wife!! ❤ just naturally gorgeous!! RIP!
Tawny Kitaen is her name.
Whitesnake - Still of the Night. David's voice is just insane, and Still of the Night really showcases his talent!
Back then, even today you can't separate the song from the video. This song was massive!! Tawny was every Gen X guys fantasy in this video.
Amen 😊
This is EVERYTHING hair metal is supposed to be! ❤🤘
Imagine banging this in your 77 Trans Am as the first song after you take the car out garage in the spring! Every year, same song, same happy feeling
This video is so iconic that it is referenced in the song "1985" by Bowling For Soup. "she was gonna be an actress, she was gonna be a star. She was gonna shack her ass, on the hood of whitesnakes car"
She also made it into another song with "Still Of The Night" ;-)
Whitesnake making us bang our heads
In the still of the frickin' night
Coverdale banging Tawny Kitaen
And the world all felt just right
Steel Panther - 1987
Shake?
Tawney and Dave were married. She was incredibly beautiful. And Rudy Sarzo (bassist) has been on more top selling albums than pretty much any bass player ever (he was also in Quiet Riot and played with Ozzy for years). Dave has one of the greatest rock voices (check him out with Deep Purple too)! So much talent here.
RIP Tawny Kitaen (the girl who did the splits on the car). She appeared in several 1980s music videos for Whitesnake and others, and she also acted in several mainstram and TV movies, including "Bachelor Party" (1984), as the bride-to-be of Tom Hanks' character. A multitalented actor gone too soon.
Married a Cleveland Indians pitcher. Had 2 beautiful kids then they divorced but were working on repairing their relationship when she passed
LOL, in 2002 she was charged with domestic violence, in 2006 charged either possessing 15 grams of cocaine, in 2009 arrested for driving under the influence, in 2019 arrested again for DUI. I'm sure the list would be longer if she hadn't died before the last case went to trial. Yeah,. Multitalented would cover it.
She was also the cause of O.J Simpson getting a divorce as she was the "other woman" for over a year.
Don't forget as Hercules' wife in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.
White Snake is uniquely and unapologetically White Snake.
Forgot how amazing this song is.
This Black Chick loves me some Whitesnake, and this is MY JAM! 💯💯💯🎸🎸🎸
The lead singer, name is David Coverdale, this guy is a bona fide ROCKSTAR, he was also lead singer for Deep Purple from 1973 -1976. The gal in the video is Tawny Kitaen, she married David in 1989-1991. Tawny died in 2021.
David Coverdale is DA MAN!!! And he’s old enough to be my Daddy 😉
I can do that! If you're a gymnast or cheerleader or both, this is what you do! It's fun if it's your passion!! 💯 Oh, Lita Ford & Ozzy... Close My Eyes.... Absolute Banger!!
A Great Banger of White Snake is ... Still of the Night (Official Video)
“Still of the Night” is an even bigger banger and the same model is in that video as well,Tawny Kitaen! Every woman wanted to be her every guy wanted her back then in the 80s! She was married to the lead singer of Whitesnake and she was in I think three of their videos! There is parts in “Still of the Night” that will make you think you’re listening to Led Zeppelin. If you close your eyes, it sounds like Robert Plant singing.
I'm 70 and have never seen a Whitesnake video before but I am now a fan!
Great band.
He has a beautiful deep British accent. He did a commercial about voting in America. I loved it. He was telling us the voting is a privilege. I didn't even like long haired rockers, but he had a special lions mane look and sexiness about him. I watched that commercial every time and then repeated, cause it gave me that, "ooo baby" feeling. I was a teenager.❤❤
David Coverdale's girlfriend and David Coverdale's Jags. He started out as a bluesman. Check out Still of the Night or Slow and Easy next.
Don't forget Slide It In by Whitesnake
Slide it In is classic
David Coverdale lives in my town of Reno NV and has been married to his wife Cindy for 27 years.
Still of The Night is a must! The Guitar solo with the violin bow.... AMAZZZZBALLLLZZZ!
STILL OF THE NIGHT! ❤❤❤🤘🏼🤘🏼
STILL OF THE NIGHT IS...... "A MUST"! Your ears will thank ya for it!
Whitesnake was thought of as the UN of Rock at the time because every member was from a different country. Vivian Campbell, rhythm guitar (dark hair), later joined Def Leppard after Steve Clark's passing.
She was gorgeous, and every dude I knew back in the day had a thing for het. I was so sad when she died.
And you aren't wrong--the song is epic.
David Coverdale has one of the sexiest voices in rock.
Hair Metal is one of my favourite subgenres of Rock. It has a booming beat, raucious guitars, and is FUN to blast out of your car stereo.
Lead vocalist is David Coverdale. He was with Deep Purple from '73-'76 before forming Whitesnake officially in 1978. Bon Jovi formed in 1983. Lots of dudes were trying to copy Coverdale's look.
Two suggestions. For older, "Fool For Your Loving" and off the same album as this one, "Still of the Night."
Paula Abdul was hired to do coreography for this video. Tawny Kitaein (Bachelor Party / Hercules TV movies and show) started doing her thing on the hood of the car(s). Paula told the director you don't need me - she already knows what to do.
I get warm fuzzies watching her hang out the window of the car looking so joyous (while the bugs are hitting her in the face).
Slow and easy should be your next venture🔥🔥🔥🔥
From the 70's to the mid 90's songs were heartfelt no matter the intent of the song. It was all takent like this no computer tuning or assistance only tinkering with equalizing sounds.
Their is nothing better than 80s soft Rock The 80’s was the greatest Time and generation ever ✌️
Tommy Aldridge on the drums is a legend. Played with everyone.
Still of the night is probably my favorite song by Whitesnake. Would love to hear your reaction.
True Banger !!! First song on my playlist.. Gotta start out Strong on my 80’s playlist which set the tone for the rest of the songs added..
I would gladly give up smart phones, social media, and Internet to go back to the those times!
@@timhamilton4751 .. I’ll 2nd that .
I am 46 years old. This was my favorite song of theirs growing up. I remember listening to it in the 80's or very early 90's. It is the same era and music genre of BonJovi. I like your reactions. You got my respect when I saw your reaction to "the devil goes down to Georgia".
Tawny was in a low budget horror movie Witchboard. I absolutely loved it and her!
^The video that introduced the world to Tawny Kitaen. She made the video and married the lead singer. They only stayed married for 2 years.
She wSxalso on the short lived soap opera Capitol
My 2nd crush... Tawny was amazing. My first was Olivia Newton John. A Little boy playing all kinds of Olivia on the Zenith while staring at the album cover...heh
Tawney in "Crack In The Mirror" and "Witchboard", hot in both.
@@theidajawhowitchboard was interesting
@@andreadeamon6419 When she is in that mans suit....whewww....chillzzz mate.
Now you need to check out Bowling for Soup's 1985. The line, "she was gonna shake her a** on the hood of Whitesnake's car, " will suddenly make soooo much sense.
Bon Jovi vs. Whitesnake. Who came first depends on your definition of first, Bon Jovi's self-titled debut came out in 1984. They had some small hits but really hit it big (and by big, I mean they were one of the most successful bands of the second half of the Eighties) with their 3rd album, "Slippery when Wet. (August 1986). David Coverdale of Whitesnake got his start as the second lead singer for Deep Purple in 1973. In 1977, he had his first of two solo albums. The first album was called "White Snake." In 1978, he formed Whitesnake and released 6 albums which had some traction over seas. It was in 1987, with the self-titled album that Whitesnake made it big in America. First with the single "Still of the Night," and then "Here I Go Again." So Whitesnake was around well before Bon Jovi, but Bon Jovi was the first to reach super stardom.
Every man knows what he's feeling in this song.
He was a great vocalist in Deep Purple.
The earliest sign of their heavier side was their LP Slide it In. The classic from that. .. Slow and Easy The music in that tune, especially the drums, is epic. Listen to it with huge speakers and you will feel like you are getting punched in the face
Love both of these! Huge Whitesnake fan 🥰
" Still of the Night " 🔥🔥🔥
Song is so damn good. I'd sing this in my head playing right defender in NE Brazil. Same chick from the Bachelor Party with Tom Hanks.
In 2004 The band Bowling For Soup released a track "1985" off of their album "A Hangover You Don't Deserve". Lyrics read " she was gonna be an actress/ she was gonna be a star/ she was gonna shake her ass/ on the hood of white snakes car". Now you know where those lyrics came from!
This is a rare in rock re-recording remake of a song released a few years earlier than this 1987 version. Originally written in 1981 with guitarist Bernie Marsden and released on Whitesnake's 1982's "Saints and Sinners" album the song was a hit in the UK but did nothing in the US. When Coverdale relocated to the US a few years later, he dusted off the song to add to the songs he and guitarist John Sykes wrote for a new hair metal "relaunch" of the band. Clearly worked.
Prefer the 81 version
" still of the night " is my still my favorite whitesnake song
Whitesnake is my favorite rock band. Love them soooo much. I grew up listening to them.
This was such a tune... theme to a few of my teenage years lol
In The Still Of The Night is the one to do next! It`s my favorite and RIPTawny Kitaen (the girl who David(the lead singer) was married to) is in the video too. The song ROCKS!!!
They are a great band. In my top 15. 70's and 80's music was the best. I'm 65 now and still roll the windows down and turn up the volume all the way up and rock my a-s off. I'll carry it to my grave.
DEFINITELY react to Ozzy and Lyta. Fantastic hard rock duet.
David Coverdale actually started Whitesnake in 1978 after leaving the group Deep Purple. This hit became popular in the late 80's.
Tawny Kitaen! So loved her in the 80's. R.I.P.
Absolutely....The Still Of the Night!!!!!
This song would blast from every juke box in all the bars that I frequented back in the day!
That insert video at the end when Tawny is dragging Dave into the backseat always puts a smile on my face🥰
The lead singer for Whitesnake is David Coverdale. The woman enjoying herself on the car is Tawny Kitaen. At one time she was actually married to David Coverdale. Apparently she had an affair with OJ Simpson while he was married to Nicole Brown Simpson. She passed in 2021 of a cardio myopathy and a whole lot of drugs in her system. It was ruled a natural death the reason he reminds you of Bon Jovi is Whitesnake from the same time period as Bon Jovi and that whole bunch of groups in the 80s metal were considered hair metal
Ditto on "In The Still Of The Night" being a must-see! My favorite song.
Mine too!
I always liked white snake in the still of the night, lots of change ups and classical instruments
Slow and Easy, Also, Slide it In. Both great songs!
An old co-worker of my husband’s, Manny, sang this song on THE VOICE and turned all 4 chairs!!!!
They deserve to be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame because they're DOPE!
"Is this love" is just a ballad, "here i go again" is originally from their album "saints & sinners" , but this version is from their album "1987 " on this album were 2 re-recorded tracks from "saints & sinners" this song and "crying in the rain"
and whitesnake had 2 phases the more bluesrock phase at the beginning , and then changing more to aor rock for the us market starting wit the album slide it in.
but they are a genius band, no matter which phase . and Mr. coverdale is one the voices in rock.
Slow & Easy (live) is an absolute treat!
Def Leppard Pour some sugar on me is a banger! Such a great song! Will be on your play list guaranteed!
IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT.... Do it BP!
"Still Of The Night" shows his vocal prowess.
He was in Deep Purple years before Whitesnake. He was performing before Bon Jovi.
This is one of my favorites ever!!!! One of the best "roll the windows down and blast the radio" songs. Whitesnake and Bon Jovi were both 80s big hair bands.
Tawny Kitaen, was the dancer in the video and was the wife of the lead singer of Whitesnake, David Coverdale . Tawney died when she was 59, of natural causes.
this is a remake (or better yet their second time releasing this song) they first released it in 1982 (saints and Sinners Album) this version off their 1987 (Sefl titled Whitesnake album) in the original he sings "here I go again on my own, going down the only road I'v ever known, (LIKE A HOBO I WAS BORN TO WALK ALONE)... and in this version he sings "here I go again on my own, going down the only road I'v ever known, (LIKE A DRIFTER I WAS BORN TO WALK ALONE)... First version was when they were a UK based band. Early Whitesnake ear (1978-1982) this version is when they are US based band Re-formation of White Snake (1983-1991)
Thanks for the compliment, use to do both of there hair, they flew to Memphis to get it done while they were married ❤🎉🎉😂
RIP the gorgeous and talented Tawny Kitaen.
The lead singer is David Coverdale , the girl is "Tawny" Kitaen, (who recently died). They were a couple when this video was made
No one has a voice quite like David Coverdale. So fucking awesome
the girl dancing is Tawny Kitane. she appeared in the "back For More" video performed by Ratt in 1984” She was dating frontman David Coverdale in 1987 (they’d marry in 1989) and he also placed her in the videos for “Still of the Night,” “Is This Love,” “The Deeper the Love,” and “Fool for Your Loving.” (all 1987) In an odd way, the clips made her more famous than Coverdale himself. al
She died in Oct. 2021of heart disease RIP
Yay!! Another one I can cross off my list! The deeper the love is another one u should check out by them, but they have a lot of great songs! Whitesnake for sure came before Bon Jovi, but both are in that hair metal genre!
Its a jag and the model was married at that time to the lead singer i really loved growing up and jamming to all of this awesome music thank you so much for reacting to the greatest music ever.
Black Pegasus, I was born in the 1950's and at age 5 years of age, I fell in love with music I often enjoy life and travel this earth journey alone found joy in music still do. Stay single all my 66 years so far. I love the 1960's to 2000's years music so many great bands. I also have U2, Bon Jovi also. Music tough the heart of any generation no matter when a person is born I love Here I Go Again, excellent song. thanks for your reaction.
White snake was actually much larger over in the UK where he’s from. They’re still huge there.
Lita & Ozzy, Close my eyes forever, is the ULTIMATE 80s duet
She was a famous actress who was in Tom Hanks movie Bachelor Party. They married and divorced, then she had tumultuous marriage with a MLB player, then she was on Celebrity Rehab, then she died.
Whitesnake big time trumps Bon Jovi to the moon and back, I remember dancing to this way back in my "clubbing" days! Great memories! :)
This song was probably their biggest commercial success, but their most famous riff was from Still of the Night. You really need to react to that one.
And the woman in these videos was a model that David Coverdale ended up marrying. She passed away a few years ago.
Still of the Night!! Slow and Easy!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
BP - The lead singer was married to the girl in the video (Tawny Kitaen).
Also, everyone forgets David Coverdale was from the rock group Deep Purple.
You can tell this is a legit first time reaction to hearing this song because if he had heard this song before he would already be jamming out because it is absolutely impossible to not sing along and rock out when this track comes on
This song was in a Walmart commercial several years ago. It broke me, nothing says you're old like the defiant music of your youth being sung by 3rd graders in a Walmart commercial. 😢 yeah its in RUclips, it's not hard to find.
The singer married the girl in the video. She passed away recently. This song got me through the 90's.
Whitesnake "STILL OF THE NIGHT" (original video). 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
and "IS THIS LOVE" (original video).
Talking about breakup songs.....
I got divorced about 15 years ago, and the day we decided to call it quits I found the song:
"Gravity" by Sara Bareilles
that was just released, and holy shit that song got me through some really bad stuff in the weeks that followed. Absolutely beautiful song.
The cars were Jags; she is Tawny Kitaen (1961-2021), who was lead singer David Coverdale's girlfriend when they shot the videos for this album (previously, she posed for the album covers of Ratt's EP & "Out Of The Cellar" becoz she was the girlfriend of guitarist Robbin Crosby!!) -- Keep diggin' into the musick (sic) history rabbithole, brutha... and Blessed Be, & Peace!! 🙏☮
From what I understand, Deep Purple had broken up and David had tried a few different "bands". He formed Whitesnake and this song is him saying here he goes again doing the only thing he knows, which is music. It's a very honest statement of where he was at that point in his life.
Fun Fact: The original lyrics of this song were "like a hobo I was born to walk alone" and the song was a flop. They changed one little word to drifter and the song was a hit, lol. Great reaction!! 😊
Ahh, Tawny- the lady of the 80's-RIP. A lot of memories connected with this song, that time...
STILL OF THE NIGHT
