Very good advice, as usual. 😊 One skill that I would add is first-principles-based-thinking (i.e. understanding the fundamental principles and fundamental building blocks for your project.) That will help you avoid unnecessary dependencies and keep your project as small and as efficient as possible while still making it scalable.

Something is scalable if it works on large datasets or on large systems just as well as it works on small datasets or small systems. Let's start with an example that's not related to code: your personal attention. You can give personal attention and be a good friend to only a small number of people. If you try to "scale it up" to a lot of people, you can't do a good job at it. You just don't have the time for it. So true personal attention and true friendship are not scalable. 😊 When it comes to data science, you can have a project that works well on a small dataset, a small pipeline, or for a small number of users. If the project fails when it's used for large datasets, large pipelines, or large amounts of users, then, most likely, either: 1. it wasn't scalable 2. it needs to be redesigned to be scalable. I hope that helps a bit. 😊

2. statistical distributions (eg. normal, binomial, Poisson, etc)
3. EDA (exploratory data analysis)
4. hypothesis testing
5. regression, prediction, classification
then move on to advanced topics like Bayesian statistics, statistics for machine learning, etc.
There are many free textbooks online. Here are some examples:
1. Introduction to Statistics, by David Lane. (onlinestatbook.com/2/index.html)
2. Introductory Statistics by Barbara Illowsky and Susan Dean (openstax.org/details/books/introductory-statistics)
