  • “Many of the woods I use are from trees that are cut down for construction. This is wood that would otherwise be burned or end up in a landfill.
To me, it is exciting to find the hidden beauty in a chunk of wood. Even a very plain piece of wood offers design opportunities. When working with plain wood, I often enhance the wood by carving or burning. My carved and burned designs mimic textures and patterns found in nature.

Thanks Doug! I do have more pieces with this spalting in it, so I may make a set of a few different pieces

Another piece which is completely different to what I'd though it'd be ... gorgeous as usual 👍

Thanks Barry! I thought about making a wide mouth vase about 1/2 way through, but I had this shape in mind when I started.

Hi Heather ! Made yourself a sweet onion vase eh ? or perhaps a Vidalia ? What I may call it, it's simplicity makes it a standout ! Thanks for sharing. Take care. -Mike

Very nice. After seeing how well yours turned out I’m disappointed that I cut my log in half for two bowls rather than a Vance with the accented spalting.

Well done. Did that ring shake give you any trouble or did it stay tight?
