And because of these reasons, they are almost extinct, only a couple of manufacturers still make them today. I still remember watching and hearing a CBX1000 with a 6 into 1 exhaust doing drag races at Manfeild race circuit a long time ago. The sound was unbelievable!!
The CBX1000 is still one of the best exhaust notes ever.

The CBX sounds like a BMW M1, the Goldwing, a Porsche 911, but both are Honda motorcycles.....
Honda Goldwing and Valkyrie are like mini F1 cars with the right pipes.
The CBX1000 is by far the best sounding inline 6 on a motorcycle, but the Benelli 750 Sei and 900 are the rowdiest and by far the sexxiest of them all.
Superbly edited and informative video. I’m a diehard V twin fan but damn, that CBX sounds like F1 but it’s still a motorcycle. Great sounds all round.
Inline six is the best concept for all fourstrokers. Best balance, best sound - made by Honda. CBX for ever. Flat six is following and again performed by Honda. VR6 is a roughly running mechanism, no silk inside, only beats inline 4s. Even the inline 3 of the Yamaha XS750/850 are coming with an healthier acoustic beat. A beat that rev's your heart.

It's crazy when your bike has more cylinders than your car period Lol. My favourite bikes were my Honda S90 which was perfect for around town (and a chick magnet with its beautiful red paint job) and my CB450 which was great on the highway at 60mph but too scary for chicks. Lol.
I had 97 valkyrie. I love that bike. It handled like a sport bike that you could cruse all day in comfort.
When FortNine did a video about the CBX, he mentioned that "people" were trying to find the original "jet fighter" exhaust prototype for it. Does anyone here have any further info about that endeavor? PS I have a GoldWing 1500. I put extra stainless steel wool in the exhaust to make this super-quiet bike even quieter. I like my motorcycle(s) to sound as quiet as a car, not noisy at all!

I've always wanted to take an older Goldwing and strip it down and make a Cafe Racer. I heard one with 6 individual headers and exhaust and it sounded so good.
Three cylinder, and multiples of three = 6 cylinder, 12 cylinder. ❤ 1967, Monza Gp, 250cc class. Honda 6 cylinder 250cc's, megaphones (no mufflers. You could hear them going around the whole course. A sound that will never be experienced by today's fans.

I'm sorry, that was an honest miss from my part.
All we know is that the BMW would be the most expensive to buy ( apart from the Rune ) and the most expensive to keep running - with very frequent and expensive services to keep it running....
The Honda CBX with a 6 into 1 pipe sound is hard to beat.
Benelli also did a 6 cilinder in the 60s if I remember well.
CBX . The FGR is like everything wrong with today. All the pleasures of life muted.

The MV Agusta V6 was strictly race bike and was not road legal. And the Laverda V6 was a honest miss from my part.

having had a 1979 kz 1300 dg 6 into 1 I truly enjoyed that sound, 84 voyager 1300,which I still have. 86 Voyager 1300 in later years I obtained a 77 Benelli 750sei but there was no comparison, I may look for a Goldwing 6 as I age not so gracefully. I guess I have had more six's than most and I have been blessed.
This is the only time I'm ever envious of Americans...
Motorbikes...ten or twenty times more income more choice...and the vehicles are cheaper than Europe too...I've had over 40 motorbikes..I think 44..but all under 650cc and most under 250cc..cheapie workhorse bikes..nothing exotic like these behemoths..no superbikes or race replicas..just pre-owned used often worn out second hand cast offs..all a low paid poor Englishman like me deserved..

Had a neighbor that had a Honda CBX. Beautiful bike.
I try to build V6 2000cc injection motircycle with car's engine because it is much cheaper.....still on progress ....hopefully it will finish soon.
The Honda RC 166 250cc and 297cc racer is arguably the greatest of them all.

Amazing. Strange thing that they refused these engines ( I meant inline6). Maybe there was a difficulties of controlling, because of the center of mass. Yeah, they are wide, but BMW are still using their opposite type engines, that are more wider, in my opinion

Go check out Allen Millyards Kawasaki KZ 1300, but it's a V12 with two KZ engines grafted into one.

Guys. The CBX was an 1100. 1036CC if I remember right. I had a 79 Red. Thought I was fast until my buddy picked up a Kawasaki 750 turbo.

I bought my CBX in 79. I was 23 then. I sold her 2 years later to buy a second hand Jaguar XJS, IDIOT!!!!!!!! At least I did the Alps from Lyon to Cannes with the CBX, magic!!!! wish I had kept her. The best. I still have 1988 Honda SuperMagna, great bike and a 2012 BMW R1200GS, worthless unreliable POS ever. Biggest mistake, nice to ride but keeps breaking down.
