    The spalting in a piece of wood is so pretty. Then when you’re able to leave natural edge with it makes it look great.

    Gorgeous piece of wood. I find it amazing that most people would think that this piece of wood was a piece of trash. But those of us who turn have a hood idea of what could be, and probably is, inside. Thank you for turns big it for all of us to enjoy.

    Well thanks to Valerie for sending you this piece of Maple Burl which we now know is such a beautiful piece of Burl. We know this because you have exercised your Midas touch once again for our benefit. Quick & easy maybe but you have made it into a superb little bowl. I love the 'Feed n Wax' finish, I always do. I watch a channel called 'flippingdraws' by a Dutch chap living in England. He does some great furniture restoration from 'rubbish' & he uses 'Feed n Wax' constantly. Great bowl, great video but sorry to hear you have been a little unwell. Glad you got back into your shop where all your viewers need you to be. Take care mate & cheers, Don from South Australia.

    I hereby crown you King of Punk(y) Spalt. You handled it beautifully, and made it look easy to turn. (When we know it is not easy to turn smoothly). Glad you are feeling better enuf to play in the shop. Hope you continue to improve and get back to full strength. I know how hard and frustrating it is to not be able to work in the shop. Glad you enjoyed the wood, the turn, and your excellent results!

I am going to stack it on my porch and put a fan on it? It's very heavy right now! When it dries some, maybe it will get lighter? How long does it take? I loved that tree! Would like to see something good happen with it now?

      @@dianeclemmer1344 All I ever worked with was dry, no sap. Most people will tell you, wood takes 1 year per inch of thickness to dry. The fan will help. So will stacking it for good airflow. Yes, it will lose a lot of weight (water) as it dries.

I'm not sure I could turn loose of a nice spalted burl like that. The matte finish suits it I think. It's very complimentary and not competing for looks as a glossy finish would.     Glad you are feeling better. Just got back from my 50th reunion (boy there were a lot of old people there) and missed seeing your post until today. I always like to see what you can do with a small piece. I love learning your thought process as it gives me new ways to look at a piece of wood.

    Hi 👋, Phil sorry to hear that you have not been feeling all that great, and you are now on the mend, I have actually spoken to a couple of other people they have been suffering from flu or flu like symptoms over the last two or three weeks, in the US & Canada,
    And what can we say about the turning, Wow , definitely some beautiful spalted wood turning, well done Phil,
