287: Era Terra Argentinosaurus Review Part 1

- Almost exactly after I celebrated my birthday with the amazing and awesome Era Terra 1:35 Patagotitan by artist Ademar Pereira do Nascimento, I finally have that Holy Grail I have hoped for and sought for years - a 1:35 Argentinosaurus, the largest of the large.
Also by Era Terra, this is truly awesome, beautiful, massive and monstrous all at the same time. With incredibly rendered detail and a paint application of a colour scheme of my own choosing, this is an impossible dream come true. You will not be surprised that this is in two parts, and this is Part 1: A look at the figure itself. In Part 2, we look at titanosaur size wars, and then the comparisons.

What a gorgeous model! The artist has amazing talent and passion for his work! The eyes alone are so well done they're almost uncanny (in a good way)!

Oh Congratulations, Happy New Year and Happy Birthday finally you've got your Argentinosaurus 😊 , its abit different from my Passion Charger Argentinosaurus which comes with a juvenile Argentinosaurus together and a head switch with either mouth closed or open. If Era Terra has the DREADNOUGHTUS you should get that as well.
You must be both a serious collector and lover of dinosaurs to get the Passion Charger, _and_ a very capable build up artist to make it look good! 😁The only thing that stopped me getting one besides cost is that I would be absolutely useless with it 🤣
If Era Terra makes Dreadnoughtus, I'm expecting it to be smaller, along the sizes suggested in the Paul papers. Definitely not a bodybuilder like the Musee Studios version! 😁😁
@DinosDragons 😄i definitely need to control myself when it comes to these models and yes you are correct a lover of dinosaurs for sure. The Passion Charger and Musee Studio was a pricy acquisition and it took 3 months to finish the painting for each model. You should have gotten a Passion Charger Argentinosaurus and Compare with the Era Terra model. MY new JM 1/35 SCALE DIPLODOCUS HALLORUM with 3 DRYOSAURUS ALTUS MODEL scene is ready for collection and The Rebor version pales in comparison with this new model. I hope 🙏 you can get a DREADNOUGHTUS from Era Terra if they come up with one although not as big as Argentinosaurus, it's still a command of its own. Musee Studios did a great job on their DREADNOUGHTUS. Everytime I look at it I don't regret for a second 😁looking forward to more of your reviews when HLG pushes out their Mamenchisaurus and EDMONTOSAURUS Regalis. Keep up the 👍good reviews.
Its models like these that make me feel more like an art collector due to the beautiful craftsmanship. Absolutely love the color pallet you chose!
You have hit it right! I first felt like that when I got my first Sideshow, and then these ones are more affordable which makes it even more fantastic. There is something very artistic about models like these, especially when painted so beautifully!
The amounts of work these models have are incredible... truly works of art.

As for prounuciation, I love languages and try to honour the root language behind the names, and it's also my habit from Spanish lessons long ago. We started with country names in South America, and my lesson emphasized the "ge-" sound 😁

These are the types of figures that make you want to be a serious collector. I mean, just look at the beauty of this giant. One of the most eye-catching and sheer-sized figures, for sure. I love this color scheme. It's such a unique pattern, and I've never seen a color scheme like this on a dinosaur toy figure. So cudos to the mastermind, Ademar. I am waiting for the next video, my dear sir. You are the best. 🖤
Thank you for your support! 😁 This truly was a pleasure to have, hold and behold. It really is a dream come true and I feel that I can now safely say that this is the last sauropod I needed. Of course, HLG is following up with yet _more_ real 1:35 sauropods, so I hope that 2024 will really contribute to some really good ones for the first time in a long time!
Great review. I ordered mine almost three months ago along with the patagotitam and am still waiting on their completion. I can't wait for the day where he finally sends them to me.
I think there is quite a long waiting list for these now! 😪 But if you love sauropods, huge sauropods, and 1:35, you will love yours when it finally arrives!

¡Lo mejor de cómo lo hace Ademar es que ahorra peso, volumen y costo de envío!
El mecanismo de tornillo funciona maravillosamente bien y la costura apenas se ve.
Realmente estoy muy contento con cómo Ademar representó mi paleta de colores preferida. ¡Dale su talento y su conocimiento de los animales existentes, en el futuro solo daré pautas generales y confiaré en él para representar los colores como él considere realistas!

Ademar improved on his patagotitan sculpt in most areas for this one, fantastic
For sure! He is using a 3D resin for this as well. The previous Patagotitan was fibreglass. But I understand his Patagotitan now is also improved from the previous version.
That paint work is just immaculate.

I have only flat scales while you have some spikes at the rear^^ - nice touch
I wasn't aware of that! I just assumed that all the models were the same. As you can see though, there is a risk of breakage with pointed osteoderms 😪
@@DinosDragons Yes they are not so sturdy. But this time my argentinosaurus arrived 100% intact. :D
But I also ordered a Tyrannotitan and a Allosaurus from him. They where much smaller and he packed them perfect.
They were broken several times. But i allready repaired them.
The small spikes you can repair or just overpaint the broken parts... I mean its more natural that some are a bit used by fight and hard life ^^

I have thought of it from time to time... but it would be impossible to put everything on the table, it would take 3 days to film, and the video would be 2hr long! 🤣🤣🤣

Yes this is truly beautiful! As for Argentino the biggest today, it is the biggest known from fair remains. If you allow for fragmentary ones, then there's Maraapunisaurus and Bruhathyakosaurus to consider!
It's an amazing piece. I'm still waiting for news on my Patagotitan, wich is very late by now... Once i get it, i may consider this. Let's see...

@@DinosDragons Yes, i have. He aplogized, and said it was late. As i know he's very buisy, i told him he could take his time... And he does! I'm not worried, but it's taking too long, now...

The eyes are painted life like, but a little bit too big for my liking. Is there any studies of sauropods’ eye size?

Thank you! Well a lot has to do with whether or not the animal has sclerotic rings, which would constrain the size of the eyeball within the socket. There's really a lot I wanted to say in this video, but because of time well. Ademar told me that he considered the skull being too small to house large olfactory bulbs, he imagined him to have larger eyes, such as in cattle or horses, being able to spot predators and food from afar. Hence the size of the eyes.
If you're interested in eye size, check out Lautenschlager et al 2023 Orbit Size And Estimated Eye Size In Dinosaurs And Other Archosaurs And
Their Implications For The Evolution Of Visual Capabilities. A couple of ideas relevant to your question in that paper are that relative orbit size seems to decrease with increasing derivation in sauropodomorphs, and that sauropods do tend to have larger eye sizes.

I don't know how it's put together, and whether the paint can stand to weathering. That is the problem with putting things in the open air. If you really want to preserve, it's not the best place because of rain, mud, bird droppings and so on!
