Yep ... anything from this concert will blow your mind. It is indeed, a match made in heaven. Never before or since has a conductor had so much fun and Farnsey is literally the gift that keeps on giving! Get well Farnsey! 💕
You should hear the warm up song that John used to do back then, there is no vidio worst luck because it was a warm up song only but his version of Zeppelins 'Black Dog' AWESOME!
This concert was fantastic, the encore was Help,Playing to win another great song performed by John . Well worth watching the whole concert. JOHN IS LOVED IN AUSSIE, The size of the audience was the norm for JF concert he always gave 💯 percent
Have been to many John Farnham concerts ! ... every one the same !!! .... absolutely brilliant !!!! .... never have encountered any other artist who comes close !!!! ...... the complete experience !! ... thank you John from the bottom of our hearts !!!!!
Our beautiful John is so adored here in Oz. 💕💕 I have been lucky enough to see John live many times over the years even in small pub settings, truly remarkable. 💕💕
I have to agree. John at his best along with an orchestra...better than the original. which is pretty hard to do as ADCD were phenomenal. Absolutely everything from this concert was top notch..try.Playing to Win Next. Such action
It was a magical night and anyone there will never forget it ,as I've stated in earlier comments Farnsey involves everyone in the venue in his performances , band ,orchestra , backing singers , even the audience . Another performance from this concert with the same amount of energy is PLAYING TO WIN check it out it's amazing .
Those were the days! I am one of the privileged who have had the ultimate, pleasure of attending a John Farnham concert. I have listened to & loved John for most of my life.
Back then. Hypothetically speaking, A grandmother, her kids and her grandchildren, could have all gone together to the same Jonny Farnham concert, and they would’ve all have had a blast. As Jonny Farnham been singing for a very long time now. If you want to check out his first Pop song (be warned, it is very Pop and very 1960’s). It’s called “Sadie, The Cleaning Lady”. He always gets asked to sing it and he always argues with the crowd begging not to be forced to do so (all in Aussie Piss Taking Fun), he usually has a go at it, at least briefly.
Aussie here. I was there. I've been to a few Farnsey concerts and he always over delivers, but this one with the MSO - I was on an endorphin high for a week. The MSO also played with Kiss in one of their tours. They love that shit, really throw themselves into it.
Awesome reaction. Every time I see someone react to John I get goosebumps. He’s a very special man to us. I agree with Michelle. Playing to Win from the same concert is one of my favourites.
Amazing to see the Orchestra get so involved. All of the members would have grown up listening to AkaDaka and watched their climb to international stardom singing these songs. Just so satisfying ! Thanks Monty
In AC/DC's song they have bagpipes as some are of Scottish birth, but here a keytar is used to mimic bagpipes. John usually has bagpipes playing in his anthem song, "You're The Voice" where he got his nickname, "The Voice", from.
Oh, I wish I was at this concert too! Every song I've heard has been amazing. If this song and Help were the encore just how good was the concert. Love ACDC's (Bon Scott) version, but this is awesome. The Orchestra, John's brilliant band and John himself, combine to make it awesome. Merry Christmas, mate.
Now you have to listen to John sing led zeppelin black dog You'll be lucky to find in video as it his warm up song I had seen one but poor quality as home recording Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
You can choose any song from this concert and be blown away.... I think the Orchestra has never had more fun lol. The conductor and the Violinists were having too much fun lol. John did two or three encores the other one was You're The Voice. The words of this song are still relevant today. Loved your reaction Monty...Waiving from Australia
To me this is better then the original, John’s killer vocals mixed with an Orchestra can’t get better then that. Any cover John sings he makes it better
This concert video is amazing. Has bagpipes on you're the voice song. Can see how he sings why the group Queen asked him to be their frontman when Freddie passed away.John can sing anything.
One of the features of John’s concerts is the brilliant group of musicians he has - and always acknowledges. Having the MSO as a backing group is pretty impressive, but without them his concerts are brilliant musically. PS: John was pointing to the band at the words “you wanna play in a rock and roll band”. John’s a goody two-shoes so nothing going on - besides, his wife would kill him! These concerts were absolutely first class, just like John. The MSO members were having a ball.
Bagpipes were a key part of the original AC/DC song, including the call and response voiced here creatively by the keytar, in combination with the lead guitar, horns and as you mentioned (although not noticing the bagpipe tie-in) earlier in the video. Original lead singer Bon Scott played the lead bagpipe in the music video and in rare live performances.
That was David Herschfelder on keytar synth, set on the pipes. He composes movie music too. Did you see the conductor looking at John with a grin on his face? Did you see AC/DC on a flatbed truck? With Bon scott on the pipes.
Thanks Kathleen. I have been trying to remember David's surname. Wasn't he Johns musical director for a while when Chong couldn't do it. Love AC/DC on the truck, especially as a Perth girl. Still prefer AC/DC version. But this would have been am awesome concert. Been to many John's concerts over the years. Shame it's over. Hopefully he is doing well after his surgery.
Monty for your own enjoyment there's a highlights package of about an hour where John & some other Aussies took a jumbo full of instruments, stage, sound gear, speakers, lighting, people etc to perform for Australian/UN personnel in East Timor. They were guarding the Timorese people from Indonesian re-incursion. Because it's in the jungle the sound quality is not like the Melbourne or Sydney concerts, however the heart, emotion and caring of this Christmas 1999 in Dili concert is wonderful. John sings "It's a Long Way" on that recording too. You only see the other performers if they're singing with John. It's on RUclips too if you feel like watching John MC-ing a happy emotional event and getting a better idea of his personality. Cheers & Happy New Year. 🎄🎉🎊
The guitarist is Brett Garsed. A celebrated guiterist in pro circles. If you want to listen to a good song that showcases his talent, have a listen to "Let me out" by John farnham
I also recommend “John Farnham - That’s What Love Will Make You Do LIVE 2000” where Brett Garsed plays solo from 1:30-2:00, then Stuart Fraser (RIP) plays until 2:30. They are both fantastic guitarists here (as always), as are the horn guys at 4:00.
"It's a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll!"😆
Yep ... anything from this concert will blow your mind. It is indeed, a match made in heaven. Never before or since has a conductor had so much fun and Farnsey is literally the gift that keeps on giving! Get well Farnsey! 💕

John is a happily married man. When he pointed, he was pointing to his rock n roll band.
We all wish we could have been there.
Playing to Win from that concert is another full on song. Definitely worth seeing. Love John and everything he does.
Our Australia's greatest ever Mr voice, the whole concert is fire
Have been to many John Farnham concerts ! ... every one the same !!! .... absolutely brilliant !!!! .... never have encountered any other artist who comes close !!!! ...... the complete experience !! ... thank you John from the bottom of our hearts !!!!!
I very much regret that I never got to experience John in concert. What a feeling I get just from the videos!
John likes a bit of a kiss! Check out Playing To Win from the same concert!
Wow. Farnham takes this song to a different level. What a production. Thanks for your reactions.
Best concert I ever went to. I will gladly send you a copy, of that concert if you like.
Would you please send me a copy?
@@loucee569 just send me your details and I’ll send it to you
Best thing to come out of Australia , been happily married around decades and decades❤
Our beautiful John is so adored here in Oz. 💕💕 I have been lucky enough to see John live many times over the years even in small pub settings, truly remarkable. 💕💕

Had a little chuckle wondering if ADCD were the ACDC cover band we all wanted but never got!
When John Farnham takes the stage, Elvis walks off with his tail between his legs.
It was the keytar that was making the bagpipe sound. I agree this was better than the original probably because of the orchestra.
It was a magical night and anyone there will never forget it ,as I've stated in earlier comments Farnsey involves everyone in the venue in his performances , band ,orchestra , backing singers , even the audience . Led Zeppelin black dog is another great John cover
Concerts back then WERE so different and so much more interactive.
Those were the days! I am one of the privileged who have had the ultimate, pleasure of attending a John Farnham concert. I have listened to & loved John for most of my life.
I’m pretty late in here, but how powerful does John need to be to hold up an entire orchestra? He has always been magical
He was pointing because he mentions rock n roll band and points back to the band.
TRULY TYRULY A CONCERT PERFORMANCE. EVERYONE INCLUDING THE CONDUCTOR WAS RIGHT INTO THIS PERFORMANCE. IT WAS A TRULY EPIC PERFORMANCE.
Back then. Hypothetically speaking, A grandmother, her kids and her grandchildren, could have all gone together to the same Jonny Farnham concert, and they would’ve all have had a blast. As Jonny Farnham been singing for a very long time now.

Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
John has not had one night stands he is a genuine family man
Thank you for an excellent reaction to an Aussie legend. The energy in that room would have been absolutely awesome. Wish I had been there!!
I do love rock n roll with an orchestra
I missed this somehow yesterday and suggested it on your Playing to Win video. So happy to have found this.
Love Bagpipes?? Gotta check out 1987 Official Video of "You're The Voice" with The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra! 13 BAGPIPES!! OUTSTANDING!!!
So much ENERGY.... what a blast to be there!!!
You can choose any song from this concert and be blown away.... I think the Orchestra has never had more fun lol. The conductor and the Violinists were having too much fun lol. Your Sharing Great Music & Thats How I Learned Growing Up Young Fella👍Rock On👊
He was probably pointing to his wife Jill who would have been back stage. He calls her his rock.
Glad you love it ❤
MUCH BETTER.
I told you ma man, Johnny is the fucking man!

That kiss was nothing John is devoted to his wife and family.
❤❤❤❤❤
So many favourites thankyou

Was there it was brilliant
That was the final encore. There were at least 3 others.

In the same genre is "Playing To Win" co-written by John, and an audio warm-up song cover of Led Zeppelin's, "Black Dog".
Great reaction, amazing cover of AC/DC, of coarse you know that AC/DC is an Australian band.
When he can get the bagpipes, he will have one and when not it's the keytar
👍
You need to check out your the voice from the same concert
Listen to Bon Scott the original frontman for AC/DC. He was absolutely brilliant!
Go MELBOURNE!!!!!
its a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll 🎶🎶
It almost makes me cry to say this is better than ACDC, they're my fave band.
you can understand him is why, i do like acdc music but i cannot understand a word there singer says.. 😊
Yes I agree with you. John’s version was better than the original with AC/DC
Check out "Black Dog". Audio only as it was a soundcheck. Even better than his cover of this. He ALWAYS sounds better doing ANY SONG LIVE.
You should watch his Led zeppelin cover WOW
You should do black dog next
I agree Monty, hands down better then A.C.D.C
Agree. Better than ACDC
Nobody can do this song better than Bon Scott.
can you play Courtney Hadwin please
dont call him johhny bro. He hates it mate.....
try listening to some Guy Sebastian another Australian singer
