Mate, you have no reason to apologise. If any Aussie tried to make you feel bad about getting the pronunciation wrong of any of our artists... well they are just dickheads. We will though try to educate you on the correct pronunciation but not through shame. We have a multi-ethnic country..... we have all had friends, new family members, workmates etc. for whom English is not their primary language. So stop apologising.... we are just happy you are taking the time to get to know us Aussies :D x

There's two ways of looking at things. Not every motive is negative. I teach literacy to students who are NEALD speakers, and they are very appreciative of learning how people pronounce their words in their language, just as we take care to learn how to pronounce the students' names in the way they would themselves.

John sang the first part in the Beatles style. The second part was John’s cover, he fixed the song. He is so loved, he is humble, funny and kind. He was named best living voice alive anywhere by Richard Marx. He found John can sing 13 genre’s naturally. He is one of a kind and the last time I heard him sing he was 71 and sounded the same. John sold out this venue more than 90 times in his career and that is just in one Australian City. Listen to Amazing Grace with two of his backup singers that we also love. Or Burn for You that John Co-wrote for his wife. Thank you.

Oh, I think you picked the right version. Everyone else listens to the MSO version, which is great but this version shows the contrast between the Beatles version and John's arrangement of it. Plus, there's no bad live version of a Farnham song. There just isn't.

    • @xxticxxtocxx7909
      @xxticxxtocxx7909 Месяц назад +5

I think the MSO is also the 'meta' version, "EVERYONE else did that, so you should have too."
I love both versions, for the reasons you stated, and as you said, 'there's no bad live version of a Farnham song.'
Only thing better than John Farnham is more John Farnham.
      Cheers.

You're the first to react to this version. Kudos to you. 👍I personally love him doing both tempos and this is just so typical of John's concerts, where everyone's having fun and he loves the audience being a part of it. I highly recommend his live performance from 1992 of Gethsemane. He reached another level of perfection in his role as Jesus Christ.

    FARn'm, just like that, FARn'm.
    Glad you're enjoying his stuff.
This is a Beatles cover, the first time (fast version) is a direct copy of how the Beatles released it in the 1960s,
The slower section is John's own interpretation of the song, which he originally released in 1980.
It came about from John attempting to learn the original version on piano, and he turned it into this epic rendition.

I haven't seen this clip before - it's fabulous, of course. I've seen the one with the MSO many, many times. So thanks for using a different one. John is simply known as The Voice in Australia and we absolutely love him. And don't apologise for the pronunciation, Aussies are a bit weird with pronunciation of many words. There are two I would recommend to you, simply to see the vast range of music that John can sing. The first is a duet with Olivia Newton John called Please Don't Ask Me and the second is a more classical song, also a duet, with another Aussie icon, Anthony Warlow. It's called Granada. Both of these are of an older John, but the Voice is not diminished, still amazing. Cheers

Sorry mate.... I though this was Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra..... it truly is soul wrenching.... Even John Lennon got to hear this rendition... in the January of the year he died (December) and said that it was how he wanted to perform this song, but their music company wanted an 'upbeat' song to go with the movie that the Beatles made. If you can.... listen to 'Help' with the MSO.....

Great reaction! It's always so nice to see someone who genuinely gets the brilliance and excitement of John's performance, so glad you are loving him, and Aussies will love you for it - it's hard to explain how loved this man is over here! People usually do the version of Help! with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, but I actually loved this version, the energy is something else!
There is so much more John for you to listen to, in all sorts of genres as well, subbed and really looking forward to seeing more!
Would love to see you do 'When The War Is Over', one of my absolute favourite of his performances: ruclips.net/video/ubPdq0ejgpA/видео.html This is from 1987, when he was just becoming big again after being forgotten about for a decade or so (he was very famous when younger), so the band isn't as big, but John's vocals and the song are fantastic. The video I linked is a fairly recent upload so not many views, but it's much less blurry than all the other versions on RUclips that I've found.

G'Day to Welder Reactor and all other Bosnians ! Don't concern yourself with people who comment that you are pronouncing 'Farnham' incorrectly. You were spot-on with your comment that it is the Australian English way of pronouncing John's surname . You can call him (the easier and Aussie slang) 'Farnsey' like most Aussies do. I see that you are wearing an AC/DC t-shirt. You must react to to Farnsey's version of, ' It's A Long way To The Top If You Want To Rock 'n Roll'. His version is better than AC/DC's one. Check out his concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra which are wonderful. John sings from his soul. He sings out joy and receives it back from his audiences. All he ever wanted to do was sing and he has been performing since being a young teenager. You will notice that John often singles out various musicians and singers in his band and acknowledges and appreciates them for their talent. He shares the limelight around. He has the BEST band ! John's shirt is from his interest and participation in horse riding , particularly cutting out cattle, for which he has won awards. He's a cowboy, hence the cowboy shirt. This concert was in Melbourne, Victoria where John grew up and has mainly lived, apart from country areas near to it. We Melburnians love him and vice-versa.
