Tamiya master modeler work. Size 24 x 36 inches. I built this diorama for Tamiya/con 2004.It took 6 months and won 2nd place of the category. I also built a ship (Missouri) diorama same time and it won the Tamiya Master Modeler award. The ship diorama now sits in Tamiya Museum in Shizuoka Japan. This Tomcat diorama sits in the president office Tamiya America.

What a great F-14 Tomcat build!Love the diorama,flight deck and everything.The only thing I can see to have made it better would be is to dirty up,and kind of grease out the underside of the jet blast deflector area,especially the moving hydraulic parts.Other than that, this project is A+'s all day long.

Awesome! It was a sad day when the USN retired the Tomcat.
+sorichar I agree, it was a great plane, but so unreliable. They actually had to use the backup plane for the last flight as the original broke down, like they always do.
+Hurt0ne well that may have been due to old age.
+Gahlok12 that was exactly it. if USN had slowly retired f14s and replaced them with more modern f-14D's, they would have been better off than switching to f-18's. f-14's have landed missing vertical stabilizers, nose cones and smashed up wings, and had better range and payload. imo, they are the greatest aircraft ever made, simply for the fact that when they worked, they got in, did the job to the highest degree, and got their pilots out in one piece.

That's really cool. When I see such great Modells, it just remembers me that you have very passioned. At the moment I learn how to build scale Modells and I'm far far away from your skill level. But this Modells are great motivations to improve myself.

Do what the rest of us did. Go into the tools menu and slow the speed to 1/4.
Why not make the video so a person can watch it without the hassle? I guess it's because they were lazy. Not normal for Andy. Try again.

I too was an airman with Commander King. He extended as our CO because that cruise was during 9/11. I was 21 years old. I personally knew "Rudy" the nose art artist. I also was a mechanic in this specific aircraft and about 18 others. If you want more info and or stories, let me know.

good job, i initially saw the ecm bumps on the glove forward of the main mounts..but you caught it. the D didnt have them, they were internalized

Très bien pour le F-14 qui est détaillé avec soin! Il y a encore des efforts à faire sur les figurines et surtout le film est trop rapide pour que l'on est le temps de se faire une idée réelle sur ce genre de travail.
Very nice work, excellent attention to detail. The only gripe I have is that the glove vane, and wing tip lenses that were done in blue are green. I spent two years looking into them to make sure the lights worked while stationed at NAS Oceana attached to VF-101 Grim Reapers. Seeing as how it is a minuscule item, very nice model. Thank you for sharing your talent, and eye for realism. BTW, where is the figure representing Plain Captains (brown jersey)? Non gripe, simple observation.
