  • you want B Y D to show you the fastest way to get rid of weeds in Bermuda grass. well that is not a problem. in this video I show you two of my favorite post emergent weed kill formulas. the first one is spectracide weed stop for lawns and the other herbicide is Image. both are real effective in eliminating weeds in your lawn. now there is a method to my madness, we have to do a blanket spray first then spot treat like a PRO after that. this can be done by both homeowner and pro landscaper. the most important part of this process is mixing the formula. it is not hard at all. just bare in mind if you are trying to kill baby crabgrass you will need a formula that contains 2-4D. I'll explain it all for you in this video.

    Thanks tor the information. I’ve found out that Bermuda grass in some places is considered a weed, but here in south Texas it’s a hearty grass that can take the high heat of summer. I also found out you have to be take time to read the label of any herbicide you plan to use on the lawn, as some herbicides are formulated to kill Bermuda grass. I was really close to using Tenacity to remove some Clover and Crabgrass from my yard when I read the packaging info that said it would kill Bermuda grass as well. Thanks for stressing how important it is to read the instructions on the packaging.

Right now my lawn is free of weeds and crab grass and I just fertilized it yesterday because it about 80% of it was already turning green. I'm out here in AZ. With all your tips I'm hoping ot have the greenest lawn in the neighborhood this year. Thanks.

    Yes! Get a good sprayer, Round-up and Scott's sprayers do well. Be sure to rinse the line and tank with clean water. Tack care of it, it'll last longer. Get two sprayers, one for herbicides and one for insecticides.

    Great video BYD. I have that same 1 gallon Round up Sprayer with the fan tip. It works great. My Bermuda grass here in the DFW metroplex is still dormant, so I have been spot spraying with Round Up Quick Pro (you can find it in pre measured packets on the internet). Just put 1 gallon of water in the sprayer, then the Roundup quick pro, then blue marker dye. It already has surfactant in the mix. Very effective. Just be careful. Round up is a non selective herbicide. It KILLS EVERYTHING. So you can get away with it in DORMANT Bermuda grass. I am starting to see some green sprigs of Bermuda in the lawn now, so I am putting away the Round up until November-December.

    • @BJGlenn-cg3gs
      @BJGlenn-cg3gs 2 года назад

      I use Round-up with dye and surfactant to spray the entire yard when the grass is dormant to kill what I call "winter weeds" that will be even worse when things warm up. But be careful! If you're doing this too close to Spring, you will "stunt" growth of the Bermuda grass. It'll come in......but late. Don't ask me how I know this.😕

    BYD, I've learned so much from watching your video, actually subscribed, started watching everything this year...
    I do remember from watching one of the video you mentioned when bermuda goes Dormant, it's safe to apply glyphosate. So my question why you don't use glyphosate( or the similar version with spectracide)instead image? Is it because image works with lower temperature? Thank you!

      Would the surfactant help if you added to the blue bottle you used on the hose

    • @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral

      @@comic_book_guy that’s an option but it may clogged the hose end sprayer. If you never done this process I would experiment with that at a later time👍🏾

    Thank you new to being a home owner my grass is still dormant but have a lot of weeds. After watching this I feel like I’m informed enough to actually take great care of my lawn as far as weeds are concerned. One question does rain effect this? If it’s going to rain the next day should I wait to do this? Also should I scalp the yard first?

    • @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral
      @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral  4 года назад

      Chris Jones if it’s dormant and no signs of life then yes you can scape but bag clippings. What ever product you use will more than likely need to be watered in at a certain amount of time so read that part and time the application 👍🏾
