I literally JUST met Jhonen at the Columbus Galaxy Con this past weekend and among the multiple questions I had for him and Mr. Eric Trueheart ranging from "is Tak alive" all the way to "How did you come up with Zib" and he mentioned that this script was the beginning of Zib from the comics so seeing it animated is great!

My theory is that by removing the PAK forcefully, the conciousness remains in Irken body while PAK contains some of the data, since it is unsafe way to remove the device. The neurothing tool from comics just sends back the conciousness right into the PAK, that's why they instantly go braindead.
@@Greg-d8b No, they wanted to modify the ending to where Zim died to give an ending to the show, but Nick didn't even want to pay for that. Instead, they made the Christmas episode.
honestly, im not sure theres a way to explain it unless either zib was more technologically advanced/experienced than dib (which would explain how he caught zim in the first place) or the idea of the pak being dangerous to humans was retconned because this episode was scrapped.
The best answer is likely that, given he defeated his Zim, and sought to eliminate them all, he with his intellect capability and resources found a way to increase his compatibility with the pak in order to gain information necessary to the furtherance of his plan.
Dib (pre-…zibbified??) was more intelligent in that universe, hence why he was able to defeat zim. He probably tweaked with the pak so that it was compatible with his body, and then he…zibbified himself. Plus, in the comics, he patronized our dib a bunch for not defeating his zim, clearly showing that he truly saw himself as more superior (which, yeah, it was probably zim’s personality talking during that time though dib himself ain’t particularly humble).
This was absolutely wonderful. It really makes me wish that we got all the extra episodes that were prepped for the series. Also love how he turned into Moxie at 4:26
