It's really funny how when Invader Zim was suppose to come off the air, Cartoon Network wanted Invader Zim but Nick said no.

Nick should of gave it to Cartoon Network, although if they gave it to Cartoon Network now, CN would probably make it another TTG ripoff.

This is like a year late for a reply but I'm just now seeing this video, so whatever. Cartoon Network would have actually handled it fine. This is 2006 Cartoon Network we're talking about, if anything they would have let even MORE get through. At this time I'd call it CN's Peak. Even though now, if they got their hands on it yes it'd be like TTG, but back then they would have handled it with a lot of care.
Also Jhonen probably wouldn't have let them turn it into anything like TTG in the later years if CN got their hands on it anyway.

They want to make money off of the show some more, since they have copyright privilege on it. They can continue to sell Invader Zim merchandise to adults that remember this show out of nostalgia, without actually reviving the show.

I always refused to believe that this had low ratings, because my little sister I used to freaking love the show. We would play that she was Gaz and I was Dib, or that I was Zim and she was Gir. But yea I get that just cause we liked the show, it doesn't mean that other people actually watched it.
The show got reasonable ratings overall (hence why so many people remember it), but compared to mega-hits like Rugrats, Hey Arnold, and Spongebob, I guess Nick felt like it was underperforming.

But Dib's character is so unique and interesting! A lot of the time, protagonists in Nick shows are beloved by a lot of the other characters, but literally NOBODY in Invader Zim likes Dib, except maybe his family and Zim himself. I was an outcast at school as a kid, so I related HEAVILY to Dib, and it's probably one of the reasons I like this show so much, even 13 years later.

Don't say never, AS couldn't get Zim because Nick thought they'd be way over the top with adult humor like Spike did with Ren & Stimpy. With shows like Robot Chicken, ATHF, Squidbillies, even Rick and Morty, can't say I blame Nick.
Netflix on the other hand, while having some dark adult shows, has a wide range and might be able to pull it off.

Steven universe is good on CN's part. i'm not a fan of adventure time but my brothers are and they love it, and we bare bears is supposed to be good. Nick made a huge mistake, they could produce fanboy and chumchum or adventure time. and adventure time is so good, that deadpool made a reference to it in his movie! they just keep producing spongebob and adding new characters to fairly oddparents.
just watch as fairly oddparents has a bigger cast than homestuck, naruto and one peice combined by the time it dies out, like it should.

At Doomcon 2012, I felt so bad for Jhonen because there was a fan girl who asked him the most awkward question ever. And another thing, JTHM was seen as one if the nightmare creatures in the Halloween episode of Invader Zim, as well as Dib actually foreshowing the fact that he is a clone of his dad. In "Dark Harvest," Dib was telling the hall monitor how he recalled being inside a lab and believed that aliens were experimenting on him when he was a baby. The voice of Tallest Purple also did the voice of Waffles from "Catscratch."
I loved seeing the producers being randomly put in the show, it was so funny 💀

I think one of my favorite lines in the series was when they were playing dodgeball and the one kid gets hit and goes "AHHHH! *Inhale* Bruh, anyone can like a show like Invader Zim. When i was little, i liked the Power Puff Girls AND Invader Zim. (PPG has gore.. THAT WAS FINE WITH ME XD)
It was really bizarre and not entirely appropriate for kids. Of course, it aired when I was 8 and 9, and my parents are pretty conservative but they had no problem with me watching it. But still, it was weird and not really mainstream.
I don't know if you watched the series or not, but the best example for how messed up it gets is probably the episode where Zim befriends Keef to prove to Dib that he has friends. Once he no longer needs Keef and Keef can't take a hint, Zim rips out Keef's eye. And we get to see the shadow of this happening. That'd be pretty dark for a show with a TV-14 rating.
another one that wasn't kid friendly imo was Dark Harvest, the one where Zim comes to the realization that he doesn't have human organs, so he steals his classmates' organs and replaces them with inanimate objects

I don't think that the creator of the show wants to do a reboot...trust me, I loved this show too...but it comes a time when we gotta let things go. especially now when reboots are starting to suck
He actually said outright on his Tumblr somewhere that he wouldn't ever put Zim in animated form again. Granted, it gets a bit challenging to tell when he's joking, especially when it's buried in talk of a blood-pact with the crew, but it seems about as legit as ya boi can get.

Fact 108: Netflix dropped a Zim movie that’s straight from a comic and it’s amazing, you should be watching.
This was my favorite animated show growing up. I love the animation and characters that came with it.
I know that Jhonen has long moved on from it, but I would love for him to do a one-shot animated version of JTHM or even Squee. Vasquez has made it clear that those were created at different times in his life and didn't have an interest in going back and re-exploring those ideas, but I think it would be fun and somewhat cathartic to the creator. I dunno, maybe at the end of the day I just want to see Nee in his basement having a convoluted conversation with Styrofoam cutouts and a bloodstained wall in glorious animation

I recently rewatched the whole series because I hadn’t watched the movie and it was so fun to watch again. It really captures the energy of the series. It is such a great series and love the behavior of the characters.

I remember watching this at 14 years old, when they were re-airing it on TV, I think it was 2008, used to air at 10pm at night. Then I discovered JTHM and never looked back, literally up there as one of my favorite comic authors!
