I used Bare Minerals for years and really liked it. I purchased the Ulta pressed and loose powder foundations a couple of years ago and decided to go with the loose version. I think it is pretty much a dupe of the Bare Minerals and so much less expensive.
The Pur used to have my heart! I want to try the new ELF still!
I’ve used the BareMinerals, JCat and Pur powders and I enjoyed them all The hardest part about finding a powder foundation at the drugstore for me is the lack of shades

I’d also highly recommend the Sephora Microsmooth baked powder! Alissa Ashley got me to get it and it’s soooo lovely! It’s lighter coverage and not quite a powder foundation, but so smoothing on the skin. Especially love it for touch ups.

I tried the Ulta beauty one on your recommendation, and now it’s most used foundation in my collection. I find pressed powders are just easier for me to use and I love the price. I don’t think $14 is a bad price, but I’ve never paid full price for it either.
I just picked up the Elf yesterday. I love my BM! I would love to see a powder foundation tutorial 🙂.

I mix bareminerals original with the matte and it's the perfect finish for my oily but mature skin. The shade works perfectly too. My holy grail.

Really want to try the elf camo one! My favorite for the past 2ish years has been the revolution satin matte powder foundation. Really creamy and pigmented. Not too matte or too glowy.
You should try Jane iredale loose powder foundation. It’s sooooo good!

Great point about using different types of primer with each powder foundation. I was an early adopter of bareMinerals back in the 90s. I used to use it on bare skin, but I'd get super oily in my t-zone; so I solved that by using a mattifying primer in only those areas with good result. Have you tried Laura Geller powder foundation? I feel like a mad scientist trying to figure out the best primers for each foundation. 😛
Also a very good loose mineral powder is "cent pur cent".
Very natural. Which is best applied with a kabuki brush.
The Urban Decay one was a favorite of mine until I went through Accutane treatment. I think you're right that it works best for oily skin as I was SUPER oily when I liked it. Now that I'm more dry to normal, it looks really dry on me.

Mac Studio Fix Powder foundation is my daily foundation. Longwearing, gets better as the day progresses. Can use with cream products. Not heavy or cakey with proper application. Minimal transfer.

The Bare Minerals OG is fantastic, but I don't find it glowy. I think it just has a natural finish.

I absolutely love the Laura Gellar pressed power foundation. I own Fenty, Jane Iredell, Cliniqe, and Loreal. LG is my top fave.
The Laura Geller is my favorite too, and it’s cruelty-free. The coverage is beautiful, and the staying power is crazy-good.

My favorite powder foundation is from a brand that sadly no longer exists (Meow Cosmetics).
I also love the Everyday Minerals Jojoba powder foundation for my dry skin. It's a little too glowy in summer, as my t-zone gets oily then, but it's great for the rest of the year.

Thank you for this, Kelly! ❤️ I’ve always been a lover of powder foundation. I started wearing Bare Minerals when it was first released as an infomercial product (probably before you were born LOL!) I still go back to it when I’m in a hurry or when my skin is being finicky. I also have the new Elf foundation but have yet to try it. I also love the Laura Gellar Baked & Brighten pressed powder foundation. There was one loose foundation I used over 10 years ago that was nearly an exact dupe for BM but it must have been discontinued because I can’t find it anywhere. Maybe I’ll have to try the Tarte one as I really loved how it looked on your skin. I think you look radiant & smooth today! I’m excited you’re wearing the Elf because now I’m eager to try mine!! Thank you for your continued hard work & dedication to your channel & its subscribers!! 💜

This was such a great review of powder foundations. I just ordered the BareMinerals per your recommendation. I tried the Elf and it just wore weird on me and I honestly don't want to spend the time to make it work. Even if I could get it on well, it wore off weird during the day. My daughter actually commented on my nose looking like there was something wrong with it lol. I honestly don't understand the hype and your review of it was one of the only real and honest ones I've seen so you have a follow from me. 😀
My main issue with bare minerals is that I got it all over my clothes all of the time. If I put my makeup on before clothes it would get all over when I put my shirt on but if I put it on after my clothes it would sometimes drop off my brush onto my shirt when I was blending it. I loved the look for so long but the transfer is what made me stop using it.

I recently got back to using my Bare Minerals original. Its very glowy, esp considering i have oily skin. For days im low on time and just want minimal makeup, i do like it. Ive been considering trying a new one, the Tarte one sounds nice. 👀 i do not need a new foundation but i may have to check it out

I’m allergic to something in the Bare Minerals powder foundations, which is super sad, but I’ve tried the JCat (lovely, but I can’t get a good color match) and Laura Gellar’s Balance & Brighten (beautiful but a little too glowy for my combo skin) but my #1 favorite is the Makeup Forever powder foundation.
Laura Geller balance in Brighton is an excellent powder foundation especially for mature skin. It is a baked liquid formula on a terra-cotta tile excellent product it’s been around for quite a few years. Recently I have had trouble getting it and I’ve had to order directly from the website and I am in Canada so it’s expensive
Do you have QVC there? I get my LG items there and they often have bundles.

I love Clinique's powder foundation.
My opinion with the elf camo powder foundation it looks like elf designed it to be very low fuss/maintenance in terms of how much you have to do to put it on before or after seems to mess it up especially since its already infused with a primer most reviews and my irl experience(I have oily skin) its seems like its best for folks to just use their simple regular skincare as prep than go in with a concealer first (the hydrating camo works best which i would hope since its from the same line) set it than than the foundation than whatever makeup you do next than for me i used my fave setting spray

Can you recommend some of your favorite brushes to apply powder foundations? Like your favorites for loose vs. pressed, favorites in general, etc.? I love your powder foundation recommendations and always struggle to find the right brushes!
The ELF Ultimate Blending Brush is one of my favorites!
If you don't mind another recommendation... the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush is perfect for applying powder foundation. I've been wearing powder foundation (OG BareMinerals for 18 years) and the Expert Face Brush is by far my favorite!
Some of my faves are the Bare Minerals loose as well, but also the Maybelline Super Stay.
I did NOT like the Ulta pressed one or the NYX Stay Matte one.

Thanks for the vid! I love powder foundation, it’s what I use on a busy day when I get home from the gym and don’t have long to get ready for the day. My go to is the jcat beauty one, part of me wonders if you got one that had gone bad?? It’s literally so easy for me to apply with a large powder brush. I just dust it around my face (I don’t buff it a lot like you’re supposed to with the bare minerals) after moisturizer and it stays all day and looks so good even close up! I’m sure everyone gave you so much advice on how to use it, but I’m so surprised it was so bad on you 😕

I tried the loose mineral foundation from the Ulta brand years ago and it was great. Haven't had it in a while though. I keep thinking about picking it up, but I'm not sure the shades are the same. I'm super pale, so it's hard to find a match.

I used the Bare Minerals back in the day, but I abandoned it when I stopped using makeup. Now that I’m back, I really need to try it again. I think using powder with cream blushes and other items scares me.
So timely, I’m needing to travel with only a checked bag so I’m looking for a powder foundation to minimize my liquids for the plane.
I like the Jcat powder, but I have a lot of scars to cover, so I appreciate the blurring effect, and the coverage a lot while you prefer sheerer products. I havent tried a ton of highend coverage powders though, just the ones from Dermablend, Bare Minerals, Clinique, Cover FX and Estee Lauder.
You should try the alima pure loose foundation!!!
Oh my gosh, the Bare Minerals loose powder foundation in matte was my go-to for years. It was the first high-end foundation that I ever used. I was scared of liquid foundations because I thought I would turn orange (like the Cover Girl one did to me in high school) and break out since my skin was so oily. 😅 Ah memories.

I am right now working on my liquid foundations, but I live in southeast Michigan and in the spring and summer it gets really humid. My face gets oily that time of year so I am going to try some powder foundations for sure

Its intrresting hiw different your experience was with the BM loose powder foundations. I found them to look beautiful, but the coverage faded pretty fast and i had issues with breakouts. I have oily skin and perhaps I couldve prepped the skin better (though I did have on moisturizing sunscreen and matte primer on the tzone). Its a shame because it looks amazing buffed in.
It Cosmetics: not bad. Pretty average. Too Faced Born This Way: got me through the beginning on the pandemic. I really liked it. Buffed out to a smooth finish

@@morganmona3982 I don’t actually use a brush. Not sure if you’ve tried cushion foundations before, but they come with these puff, not like powder puffs they are more silicony almost

After watching this I looked into plain Jane beauty. They have sample sizes you get 4 shades for $10. I was completely shocked what shade matched me. I love this foundation
I liked Bare Minerals, but I wasn’t able to find my perfect shade. My mall has a Bare Minerals store. I think I am going to stop by their store. I like wearing powder foundation in the summertime.

I actually like the Clinique Superpowder Double Face foundation the best. (I rarely see videos on it; maybe it’s not that popular?) i used to use bare minerals a long time ago but it just never had very good coverage and didn’t last long on my skin.
I never see the Clinique doubme faced powder foundation in video's but I've always lovedddd it
It says its for dry skin but im oily and love it
I'm still too scared to try my Matte BareMinerals foundation again, the last time I tried it it made my pores look massive, and made me look so wrinkly, and just awful. I actually had to cancel my plans that day because I just couldn't go anywhere looking like that.
@@MyCleverHandle yes, I had skincare and sunscreen on underneath. I've also tried it with a primer. It looked like I was using makeup to age me 30 years. I want to try again, but I just never have a day where I;m willing to wash it all off if it turns out bad again

I’ve been looking for a new powder and had been considering the new elf one with it being so affordable. I also looked at Fenty and Urban Decay but they seem to dry and matte on my dry skin.

Since moving to Mexico I haven’t been able to find a retailer that sells bare minerals in person to test out shades before buying a new one (my skin has tanned since moving here) so I tried the Pür pressed powder foundation instead. It’s fine but no match for bareminerals, it tends to look more dry and cakey on me. Once I finish up the Pür one I might try to buy the bareminerals or plain Jane online amd hope the color is right, or I’ll just buy next time I visit loved ones in the US.

Can you test the new essence product? The Powder foundation.
I'm new to makeup and I'm having A LOT of trouble with powder foundations. I don't love the feeling of liquid foundation on my face and I'm really into the "Natural Glam" look, so I figured I'd try powder... I'm finding that a lot of my powder foundations (pressed powder) end up looking great when first applied, but then are really noticeable even a few minutes later. I can see that there is powder on my face, and I don't think my coverage is even. I don't think I have proper brushes, or maybe I am not applying right...I am so discouraged :( Should I be wearing pressed powder or loose powder? Or should I try tinted moisturizer? I have tried the PUR powder (which I didn't love) and I am now using Clinique. I liked the Clinique at first but now I am having the same powder problem! I'm not sure if my skincare routine is affecting this? Would love ANY tips!
Since I got my skin right, a little concealer and lighter powder foundation have been amazing. So light weight!

I was wondering if you’d tried the fenty powder foundation? I’m interested in it purely because of the shades because it has some olive shades which is pretty rare for powder foundations

I have the pressed one, I like it ok I will use it up.. it did develop a hard pan, I scraped it off, but it felt like I was wasting expensive product and honestly I reach for the Laura Gellar way more.
I found it drying (I do have dry skin though)
I sometimes suffer with dehydrated skin but hate the shiny effect I can end up with after putting sunscreen on so like a powder foundation for over the top.
I found the Fenty foundation good for that and their shade range is so much better than Smashbox which I used to use.
My skin is definitely a bit dried out at the moment and I still think the foundation looks good on me.
I think Jamie Paige reviewed and was surprised how well it worked on her dry skin.

You definitely can but I would play around and see what you like! You might find powder foundation on top of concealer to be a bit heavy. Definitely depends on preference!
As a really fair person, Bare Minerals is too dark for me. The Idun Minerals fairest shade is perfect, but it's very glowy so I got rid of it.

Laura Geller balance in Brighton is the best powder foundation I have found and I am 54 years old with combination skin. All of her foundations are wonderful Actually

I never hear anyone say, this company is Latina owned or Asian owned, or white owned. Makeup is makeup 🤷🏻♀️ . Anyway, fantastic video. Love you Kelly, you’re the best on RUclips.

I do hear people mention those other things but okay, and it's important to support black owned businesses because of the serious disparity between white owned and minority owned businesses in success because minorities have been historically excluded and pushed out from these spaces.
I have heard people mention asian owned, woman owned, etc. There are often disparities when it comes to minority owned businesses, so people like to support them. Minority owned business also tend to be more inclusive in their advertising and shade selection. This shouldn't be hard to grasp.
