Thank you for all these vids. As an advanced DIYer they give me, together with the manufacturer’s manual, a great deal of information to observe the quality of the ‘service’ 😮
Another great video Derek, always very informative and very helpful in building our knowledge in the gas industry, sometimes reading the book doesn't really settle in the head but watching the video and looking in the training manual it really helps a lot, its really amazing your videos always enjoy watching them, it was almost a 1 hour video but didn't realise due to all the important information in the video. Excellent mate. 😀😀👍👍
I always have a cup of water when doing a flue flow test, if it fails and the smoke starts coming back into the room I can extinguish the pellet immediately stopping the room getting filled with smoke. Good video 👍
When you were doing the through flow test on the chimney I did exactly what you did without the closure plate and was told this was incorrect on my ACS. Was told it must be done through the opening on the closure plate to also test the spillage on the plate.
Fantastic video! Lots of information. That hour didn’t feel an hour at all. Too much concentration lol. Really enjoyed it. This will definitely help me. Especially with revision. At 35:45 you said if you screw the regulator in, your pressure should go up on the gauge and the flame should rise and if you turn it back anti-clockwise the pressure will go down and reduce the gas going in. I don’t get this. Isn’t it right for ‘tighty’ and left for ‘lucy’? So, if you screw the regulator in it would restrict the gas flow, but here it’s increasing the gas flow so more gas goes to the burner??? Thanks Derek. Much appreciated 👍🏻 Asian Jon. Training.
Great video. Dont like using the smoke pellet holders, while you are there holding the pellet your not running round checking the terminal and in the loft and bedrooms etc,
Once the smoke has gone you can check the rooms and loft for smoke because if it is leaking the room or loft will be full of smoke. Granted you might need to use a second one and run outside to check the chimney 😉
Thank you for your help, effort and passion u put into each video. Been learning more from u than my tutor. My question regarding the precast, u mentioned that it should be 3 starter blocks then it should rise 600mm above the outlet of the appliance. The 3 starter blocks are 600 themselves, shouldn’t the 600mm straight flue before any bend be above the 3 starter blocks? Many thanks in advance.
Thanks for the video. If you went to a house and found a precast flue system from pre 1986 that had internal dimensions less than 90mm, how would you categorise it?
Gas pipes that run through an outside wall require the sleeve to be sealed to the wall at both ends and the gas pipe sealed to the sleeve on the inside so if gas escapes it one go into the cavity and will disperse outside so not to create an explosion
Warning, if you shut the door to a compartment you must have a personal Carbon Monoxide detector mounted on your person that has been tested and proven over and above the flue gas analyser you are using. the personal Carbon Monoxide detector should be set to Alarm at its lowest setting. should it Alarm open the door and ventilate immediately. We do not need to lose another Engineer to this situation.
This is easily the most informative video on the interwebs!!
Best training ever for gas technicians ! Congratulations !!!
Brilliant teaching method and techniques. Appreciate the time and effort you've put in for us trainiees and gas engineer. 👍👍
WOW some stuff which never made sense in classroom on pre cast is clear.excellent.
It is excellent video for new learners. 10 out of 10.
Derek your teaching method is absolutely A1. Great video and very informative thank you

Another great video by mr Derek thanks again
Such a great video, really helped me retain information as I struggle with just reading and taking it in😊
Great video, thank you. Can you do a video on cement based flues and Keston plastic flues please.
Thanks Derek..

Using a smoke match first is to stop that happening but good advice anyway 👍🏻
Well explained.
Thanks
Like your teaching method so thorough and make it easier to digest.
If sniffer tube fails to cut off pilot that means the fsd not working right?
Perfect as always
Can you make videos on shared flues/chimneys?
Thanks for your videos mate really helpful stufff
Excellent 🌹🌺👍👍👍
Brilliant for revision 👍
great explaining thanks so much .
Very nice videos
You are the best 🌹🌹✌️✌️👍👍
Also balanced flue chimney please

Well that’s just not true what if it’s a DFE or ILFE fire that has no closure plate. Again trainers and assessors with different opinions
Cheers mate. 👍👍
Hello Robin, I couldn't fine part 3 (C) video. Could you add the link underneath this video please.
Go to the playlist on the main channel and you will find them all there

Asian Jon. Training.
When you screw down on a regulator it puts pressure on the spring and diaphragm so it increases the pressure screw it up it decreases the pressure
@@tomkatgastraining Thanks!
Very nice

@@tomkatgastraining this is where an apprentice would be handy, im not as quick at getting up that ladder to the loft nowadays 😄
Hello Derek, thank you for you efforts much appreciated.
One question i did not know a openflue Flue has to be minimum 3 meters?
Thank you for your help, effort and passion u put into each video. Been learning more from u than my tutor. Thanks for watching the starter blocks are the catchment space and the primary flue the 600 mm rise is in the secondary flue hope that helps 👍🏻
1000 thanks ✌👏👍
Thanks
Can you run a gas pipe 100mm next to a flue
Thanks for the video. If you went to a house and found a precast flue system from pre 1986 that had internal dimensions less than 90mm, how would you categorise it?
Ncs but it also depends on the appliance connected to it and if it passes flue flow and spillage
@tomkatgastraining why are gas pipe that run through ducts sleeved and sealed at one end only
Gas pipes that run through an outside wall require the sleeve to be sealed to the wall at both ends and the gas pipe sealed to the sleeve on the inside so if gas escapes it one go into the cavity and will disperse outside so not to create an explosion
@@tomkatgastraining ooh thank you
What does the appliance adaptor look like
@@kukiechag99 a piece of twin wall with the outer casing removed so you can seal the inner part of the flue.
What's the best way to check a precast flue for snots all the way up. Take a small child to work with you maybe?
You are a RUclips hero so maybe you have X-ray vision and you can check that way

Are you selling the alarms then because boilers are room sealed now so where is the danger
