"The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)" is out now via Nuclear Blast Records.
"The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)" is the first part of a trilogy.
Per Nilsson comments: “I thought to myself... am I allowed to fuse death metal with AOR, and go extreme in both directions? I didn't ask for permission, I just went and did it, and I'm pretty excited to hear what people are gonna think about it.”
Henrik Ohlsson adds: "Limits to Infinity” unveils the malevolent plan of the elite, the hidden hand, and their discoveries regarding the secrets of the universe. The lyric elaborates on the decision makers' long-term plan to merge with machines and colonize other planets."
Track listing of "The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)":
    01. The Shape Of Things To Come
    02. Neohuman
    03. Limits To Infinity
    04. Cryonic Harvest
    05. The Spiral Timeshift
    06. Children Of The Integrated Circuit
    07. Neuromancers
    08. Technocalyptic Cybergeddon
Commented guitarist Per Nilsson: "The lyrical concept that Henrik came up with for The Singularity trilogy is huge in scope, complex and awe-inspiring, and naturally the music I wrote needed to follow suit - and it is with great pride that we can now present 'Phase I - Neohumanity', the first part in the most progressive and elaborate project in the history of Scar Symmetry. What an awesome way of celebrating our 10th anniversary!"
The cover artwork for "The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)" was created by Mircea Gabriel Eftemie.

Man, this is literally an example of a perfect melodic death metal song for me. I love when there's a balance of clean and growl vocals in a song and they did it so perfectly in here

Yup, his intelligence and insights enable him to see things that are hidden to most of us... I recommend going through all the albums for the lyrics alone, very condensed knowledge about the nature of reality, power structures etc etc. The awesome music is "just" the icing on the cake! :D

@@firebirdnewt As SS have said in the past, they're just a bunch of nerd conspiracy theorist scientists. Meaning that, they'll research and look at any number of possible out comes and utilize them for lyrics that best first the story they're trying to tell with their music.
In the end, you could argue that, they saw of a chain of events that could be sent in motion and actualised them into lyrics, which then played out years later. Laws of probability & assuming the worst, not some kind of prophetic genius, just pure intelligence.

How long have people used fear to as a weapon to control others...? How long have vaccines existed? These strategies have been used over and over. We have been lied to about our history so it makes it especially difficult to learn from the past. If you want to see something interesting, then learn everything you can from G Edward Griffin. And Yuri Bezmenov. Use minorities, feminism, and religion to divide. Creating a crisis to usher in a new normal and conquer.

I must say that I felt ok listening to this song, also I am pretty sure it will grow on me and I will be listening to it a lot... but I did feel a bit disssatisfied. I guess they will never top Holographic Universe, or even Symmetric in Design. But still anything by Scar Symmetry is above average tbh... they are very melodic which is what I seek in metal, also the futuristic, universe and cyberish ambient is unique in them.

Yes indeed. I bought a large box of CD's at a yard sale this summer, That Deep Purple CD was in it. "Oh yeah, I remember this tune! They did this?"
Lol. Bad ass tune, one day I will play the whole disc.

I find that first three albums will be their best, regardless of what gets released in the future. I cannot rank the first three as to me, each one is awesome in their unique way. Dark Matter Dimensions and The Unseen Empire are okay, but in comparison to the earlier releases, it doesn't have the same "uniqueness" to them.

I dunno, I'm getting SERIOUS early 90s Dream Theater vibes from the chorus. That riff wouldn't sound out of place on Images And Words or Awake, man. Actually, I think it's pretty much the same as "Innocence Faded"...

Per is a genius! Second listen and I'm on board totally. This is unmistakably Scar Symmetry and it's no more prog than any of the past stuff really. Big chorus hooks, big grooves, low growls. Perfect.

  • @captweirdbeard
    @captweirdbeard 10 лет назад

I was honestly a bit worried when Per said this was one of the more commercial sounding songs of the album. I can see why he said that, but DAMN IT I'm totally down with that 80's hair metal chorus. Fantastic work guys, I'm beyond stoked for this release!

I'm pretty sure he speaks of the Morning Star, the relic which allows God to remain God. With it you can do anything. There is no limit as you just will it and it is done.

As a MetalHead that has broad tastes I consider this very refreshing and interesting. They are very talented and creative. This is one of those Metal Bands I could pick on a bar touch screen juke box and everybody wouldn't roll their eyes. You get those "Looks" from the bartenders when you rock Kreator, Naglfar, and God Dethroned so this is a valid departure from rap, country, and Dinosaur Mullets. If the women out number men you toss in Chick Metal. Were never going reach anyone until we ease people into this stuff and Top Shelf Progressive Metal with retro influences are a good start.

I heard this song on the radio a while ago. Until now I'd never payed much attention to Scar Symmetry. This song got my attention because of the strange and unique mixture of sounds. Progressive metal, death metal, and deathcore all in one. And then the chorus honestly reminds me a lot of Van Halen. This song was weird as hell at first, but the more I listen to it the more it grows on me.
