Jojo Joestar - Elise (the main character of this film) gets strangled to death by a possessed Josh at the end of Insidious 1, comes back as a badass heroic ghost in 2, and then 3 (like this one) is a prequel about more Elise adventures.

I feel like it's worth mentioning that Elise PROBABLY caused Dalton's possession. Those red doors all hold something back. When she opens the red door that shows Dalton, she DOES NOT CLOSE THE DOOR when she leaves. As the Further accesses different times, I feel like Elise caused his possession by leaving that door open to him.

This movie started out really well. I wish the entire movie could've been about the girl being haunted by the spirits from death row. It was a much more interesting story.
SAME, i feel like they really should've gone the period peace route (since thats really in right now) and just completely focus on Eliese as a child in the 50's in her messed up childhood.

Elise is the true star
She reminds me of a lovely grandma who'd come by and have a chat with the family in front of the home. Just a very friendly and loving vibe about her. Her death should be kept, but i'd honestly would love more Elise and Sidekick adventure movies.
If anything they could continue with Elise’s Nieces.
My fiancée and I watched this in theatres, she’d lost her mom a few years back - and when Elise’s mom came up and laid the WWE Smackdown on that key face demon, it brought her to tears of joy. It still does to this day, I love that the Mama absolutely mollywhomped the demon into oblivion - favorite part of the franchise.

The ending made it clear that everything that happened in the first Insidious was Elise’s fault. If she hadn’t left the door open in the Lambert’s attic, Dalton wouldn’t have been able to venture into the Further and gotten lost as Elise herself explained in the first movie. That’s how the Lipstick Face Demon got to him. Really made me mad because she didn’t just cause that but her own death as well. If Josh hadn’t gone into the further to save Dalton, Parker wouldn’t have possessed him and finally killed Elise 🙄🙄
Misty Rose but she did a good thing both of them are both alive and Elsie’s is gone yes sad but she was older she saved a family from being destroyed she had to fix her mess

I thought Dalton had already had the ability to drift off into the further, I didn’t know you had to be possessed by a demon to enter the further.
The cliff hanger in 3 makes sense when you take into account that she seen Dalton in THE LAST KEY. Opening the red door and seeing him must have led Red face and the long hair dude to him. So she's kinda the cause of the events in the first film.

In Dexter, Harry Morgan is everywhere despite being already dead.
Jane Jasmine She's dead but in the second movie comes back as a Heavenly Ghost with great powers. She becomes a Spirit Guide for the two Paranormal guys. The other movies after Part 2 are Prequels showing her back when she was still alive showing her back story. She's a fan favorite.

What about the cliffhanger of Insidious 2? Where Elise as a spirit still works with Tucker and Specs? They could easily keep working on that, as well as adding Elise’s niece to more movies.

@King anime Master The reason why Chapter 4 wasn't well explained was because James Wan didn't direct the whole movie through. At that time, he was directing two movies, The Nun and The Insidious: Chapter 4. He had to chose which to direct. Hence, he direct both of them like some scenes, but he chose to direct The Nun more, so it's ending of The Nun kinda flopped a bit and Chapter 4 didn't really went out well. Both movies also had other directors too, so some scenes were handled by them.

I watched this when I was younger, before many interactions with horror films and it spooked me of course, but the one thing that really got me was the build up of the girl in the bathroom, whom Elise believed to be a ghost, a feeling that her father seemed to back up. Then later revealing that she was real and her father was capturing and killing them.
You missed the fact that when they opened the door to the Lambert’s attic they forgot to close it so maybe that’s how the red devil got Dalton, because in the first movie after Dalton falls from the stairs he stares at the direction of the door which means that he saw Elise and after that Dalton screams so probably he saw the red devil and got supper scared. And the door is open so the red devil got out and that’s how he got to Dalton and if you take a look back in the first movie they make a lot of emphasis on the window where the red devil appears at the end. That’s just my theory tho 🤔

Yeah this was implied in the movie, but it wouldn't make sense, because in Insidious 1 it is stated that Dalton got lost in the further while in an astral projection, which is how the red demon trapped him... Dalton's cameo in The Last Key simply looks like a silly, nonsensical nod which is there only to provide a connection to the original story of the first two movies
And it’s not a theory that’s obviously what they intended and it’s extremely obvious
I wish they can make another movie focusing on who "the red devil" is. like how he became to be...and maybe find a way to bring Elise back in another movie. like reincarnation or something..... like in the characters eyes, they see another woman but in our (audience) eyes, we see the actress Lin Shaye. I hope that make sense...kind of like in the tv series ghost whisper where we (the audience) see Jim but the characters see Sam....see that's two movie ideas right there. I just love this series.....it's been a long time since someone write a scary movie that was both scary and made sense....scary movies these days are either "kind of" scary and don't make sense at all.
He's just a demon. Only thing left unsaid is how high up the chain he is. In the grand scheme of the franchise he seems to be the most powerful thing that they've come across, except maybe Keyface.
I wouldnt say Keyface was “powerful” he just was very deceptive just like Loki! Keyface is weak because he easily got *YEETED* by Elise’s mom.

If u watch the special features of the movie you can learn more about it. Its name is actually the lipstick demon. Its a demon so its hell born. Never been human. It smeared lipstick all over its face to try and mimic human.

I think they should make a show based on younger Elise from the second movie and her cases with the occasional cameo/scene of the older Elise before she died. Maybe having a series starting as Elise going through old boxes after Jacks death and having a series around her flashbacks to cases tied to objects.
Its Elise's fault Dalten got taken because she left the red door open.

I was thinking this too. With Elise gone they have no one in the real world to be the psychic guide, but with Imojen they've got it set up now where someone can take Elise's place in the living world
totally knew the whistle would save the day with the POWAH OF LOVE the minute it was introduced in the film.
I really enjoyed the insidious series and I’m glad that it came full circle. The monsters could have a bit more... insidious or grotesque, but other than that the pace of storytelling and concluding the series as is was satisfying in today’s horror and slash repetitive bore fests and I’ve watch a lot horror movies in my time. This was solid.
I think her niece was introduced to continue the series since she is dead and come up on 5 (3) as a ghost

I loved how they used a backstory of Elise to connect to the 1st films. This film continues to suprise me with the influence of evil demons from the further and humans in the past, present. This was not as scary as previous installments but it is a worthy finale to a (key) character! 😊

Rainɘ yes it is about elises childhood. But that doesnt mean it is the first one. She just got a bad dream so she just explained whats happen when she was a child. But all through that movie she says something about quinn where she helped her. So that means 3 was first.

It's called a prologue. Lord of the Rings does it in each film. When you saw Two Towers, its prologue shows an expanded scene halfway through the first film. This doesn't mean that the movie takes place in that time, it's just showing it to you to create context for the rest of the movie so you don't get confused.
if Elise never opened the door and caused Dolton’s possession, she would’ve never been strangled (because she would’ve never had to help Dolton anyways)
if she had closed it as well, cuz then nothing would have gotten through after she left,
i loved watching this movie. every twist and turn (because me and my friends love to watch these movies and figure out the endings ourselves) was such a thrill and an enjoyment to watch, thank you for making this ending explained!

I watched "Insidious: The Last Key" yesterday in theaters, without ever seeing the other movies in the franchise. Overall, it was pretty good. The beginning was scary when they told about Elise's childhood, because of the jump scares it had to offer. The ending did make me a little sad, however. It didn't have the fear that the beginning of the movie brought, making it not as enjoyable. That isn't to say that the ending was bad. When Elise's mother showed up, it gave me happiness to see that mother-daughter reunion, along with the brother-sister reunion when Elise goes to the hospital to check on Melissa after escaping the further. I am glad that Christian apologized to Elise in the end because come on; holding a grudge for that long? I understand that his father was an abusive man, but he could have run away before or after Elise when he was a child. It also gave me great joy that Elise's father sacrificed himself for his daughter at the end. It was a triple family reunion! Sort of. I don't know if seeing the father and beating him to death is considered a reunion, but it does give of the impression of a reunion when he sacrifices himself for Elise. The death of KeyFace could have been done a little better though. He dies after Elise blows the whistle that Imogen found, summoning her mother. Elise's mother then proceeds to kill Keyface by hitting him once. But come on! Only one hit and he's dead?! I was expecting something a little more intense. If KeyFace had fed off of the hatred of Elise's father all those years, then he should have been much stronger, making the final battle a little longer. I'm going to give this movie an 8-out-of-10. It has its flaws, but overall a great scary movie.

It was totally Elise's fault why Dalton was captured by the Lipstick demon. Elise left the door open, she didn't mean to, probably, maybe she didn't think Dalton would come inside. And no, the red door won't be opened by anyone, the Keyface demon told Elise she's the only one who could open the door and that's she's more powerful than she thought. Watch Insidious: The Last Key again, start at 13:06 mark. The keyface demon wanted her to open all doors... and she did.

I honestly think there going to make another one, because there really isn’t a complete circle since at the end of the 2nd one we still don’t know the demon that is in the darkness that Elise saw. This to me would more then likely be the next chapter in the series. Hopefully.

The ending of Chapter 2 sets up perfectly for the 5th, and hopefully final movie, as it's the only one to take place after Elise's death. My theory is that the 5th film will center around Allison's story and the battle/defeat of the red-faced demon. I know it's not confirmed that it's the red-faced demon haunting Allison, but like it's gotta be, it made the same cracking noises and Elise was so shocked compared to other demons she's faced (Maybe due to her having dealt with/seen it already with Dalton's case).
I can't remember which one, but in one of the BTS videos with James Wan he even says that red-face is the most powerful demon in this series. I think, in one final hoorah, people from the previous movies (The Lamberts, Carl, Tucker and Spec, an older version of Elise's niece, etc) will come together in the final battle against the most powerful demon, red-face. With the secret to killing him once and for all lying in Allison's story. A more extreme one even being connected to rectifying mistakes made in the past movies (i.e. Elise leaving the red door open when seeing Dalton, Josh inadvertently terrifying himself and own family in the first film, etc.). Since time is nonexistent in the Further these are all plausible situations in my mind.
