    I wish there was another version of the movie where we didn’t see anything about the facility and it just starts off as a typical horror movie but then the big twist is that everything was being controlled by the facility. I loved how it was executed but it would be cool to see the twist not shown.
    Edit- I think some people are missing the point of this comment, idgaf if the movie is perfect how it is, I WANT to see a version of the movie that doesn’t show the stuff going on behind the scenes until the end. Don’t care if that would make the movie worse or better because that isn’t the point. I’m not asking for the existence of the original version to become extinct, I just want two versions. Tbh I’d like for this movie to have multiple different versions, showing how different the night could have ended for the characters. Even if that means that the whole meaning of the film is ripped away just for my pleasure of watching it from a different perspective. I’ve seen the original. I want more content. Therefore I want multiple different versions of a movie I’ve seen many times already. Same goes for any other movie I feel passionate about.

    • @deviantanomaly
      @deviantanomaly 4 года назад +346

      I think the movie is considered one of the all time greats because of this. It’s not the typical “Here’s a horror scenario, people die, plot twist, resolution.” It dipped it’s toes in playing with the 4th wall by letting us know that this facility exists from the very beginning sparing us from a plot twist and having US be the “ancient” ones expecting the typical horror movie.
      A movie that doesn’t rely on a plot twist is SUPER rare nowadays but this one was well made.

    • @AwesomeAj44
      @AwesomeAj44 4 года назад +19

      Deviant anomaly yea I like that the way they did it it just would have been nice to see how it would have been if it was a big twist. I like being shocked and I felt that would have been the biggest twist to me.

    • @umachan9286
      @umachan9286 4 года назад +53

      But that would be a lame twist if it more or less ended there. What I would suggest is you get this twist halfway through. Have the typical setup and story of five people go to a cabin but at the one hour mark have somebody who's not the final girl survive and walk away, fade to black, credits start to roll people wonder what the hell is going on and why was this movie so short? Then the film would cut back to the guys in the control room commenting on how they didn't get it right this time. The cabin is reset and another group of young people show up. This time we see what's going on from the facility's POV inter-spaced with the same events happening in the cabin but this time with different people.
      And then people would just compare it to this movie and say they ripped them off and "Cabin in the Woods" did it better.

So Buffy is slaying vampires and Rossum Corp is running their Dollhouse and then Cabin in the Woods’ ending is what triggers the apocalypse to send whatever is left of humanity into space, eventually causing the world of Firefly to happen. And River Tam is a vampire slayer of the future that The Alliance kidnapped in order to try and control a Slayer of their own.

      yup...and as the ancient ones...we can seek freedom from tired ass stories that do not step up to the plate and really deliver us the goods we want as moviegoers. Lately there has been a trend where critics and moviemakers, writers of screenplays and executives are attempting to diss audiences who pay money at the box office. Dissing someone who refuses to swallow the puerile, plastic , hollow social justice narratives that has stories that make no sense says more about the disser than it does about the person spending their hard earned money at the box office. Light years ahead of its time...Cabin in the woods warns us...before the birth of social justice movement that we vote with our wallets or pay the price by being imprisoned by the false narratives of people who would never give us the snot off their sneakers.. something i loved about this movie is the people didn't play the hero and sacrifice themselves like most horror movies do. they just said "fuck it, let's get high and watch the world die" and i think that was poetic. how we truly can't fight our instinct to survive for the most part, even at the expense of others.

      Assuming that they themselves can make worlds, they destroy the previous world as it has no significance for them anymore (they failed the ritual).
      It's symbolic of how the audience would no longer bite into movie studios' products when all of the films that they are producing are shit and not enjoyable. Then they start following other movie studios, ergo, other "worlds" in the Ancient Ones' view.

    That was such a great explanation. I’m a horror movie buff and this was absolutely one of my favorites. But I never realized the gods were the audience. That right there was genius. Teens in horror movies do typically always have their set characters and we just go along for the ride to see exactly how the expected outcomes play out. And while I’m not usually a fan of horror comedy, I really enjoyed how this movie played out beginning to end. This was definitely the explanation I didn’t even know I needed.

      I totally agree because I've heard that too and if you really think about it, the movie does direct the characters that way because Marty wasn't the fool. 1) he was able to evade the use of the marijuana and 2) Dana was proven to make mistakes right from the beginning because she wasn't a virgin and shows a lack of common sense within the first 10 minutes of the movie. Whereas Marty falls into the trope of the Virgin, he's the fifth wheel and he is not driven by sexuality he's driven by pot. There is a multitude of evidence that proves he's not a fool. Throughout the movie he's figuring all this stuff out, while Dana is making the worst possible choices throughout the movie, even at the end when she's convinced by the director that Marty needs to die. This wouldn't have finished the ritual because Dana was the fool! The ritual was going to fail no matter what.

    You guys are aware that the ancient ones are supposed to be horror fans. Like when Marty gets pulled of screen, the ancient ones are rumbling because they (the audience) did not see Marty get killed which is a trope in horror that any character you don’t see die off can be considered still alive or have the ability to come back later. You see this a great deal in slasher movies at the time the movie was made.

    I actually love this movie the first time I came across it & watch. SciFi, Fantasy, Horror & Dark Humour are my fave movie genres, & this movie had them all packed in one. I just want it to have a sequel, if not a post-credit Easter Egg of the aftermath. Earth becoming a charred rock while the Ancient One trampled around until it's satisfied & rested on its fiery butt?

      "GAME TITLE"'s ending explained... which happens to be a synopsis of the entire games story and plot.
      these people really do need to title their videos correctly. Still a good vid though here, and for most 'ending explained' videos

I may be pulling this out of the air, but I think I remember reading that in mythology Unicorns can only be caught by people with a pure heart, if anyone else tries to catch them they instantly kill them which is why the Unicorn goes on a killing spree in the facility.

      It's not so much the twins from the Shining as it would be any pair of creepy twins. Remember these nightmares aren't supposed to be the actual ones we see in the movies but the primordial nightmares that influence what we see in the movies. So that guy with the saw blades in his head holding the puzzle cube isn't supposed to be Pinhead or a Cenobite but a nightmare that would have given the idea for Pinhead.

    I feel this movie should have ended differently. Instead of the ancient ones destroying the world because the ritual failed, they should do the exact opposite because of the twist ending, with the ancient ones fond of the two survivors and saying “we are satiated for at least another 5 years”. This movie plays with all tropes so the plot twist ending would keep people entertained.
